Hi, I am thinking of writing a Mauarders AU where it doesn't lean into fanon so much. I thought you'd like to discuss it with me by seeing your opinions regarding the current headcanons the fandom has. But I'll just make an outline;

1. James Potter will be a bully who will be mean towards Snape, driven by his jealousy of Snape's close friendship to Lily. He will have a redemption arc.

2. Sirius won't be feminine. He'd be Sirius, but he'd also have bad qualities when it comes to treating others that he will have to unlearn due to his upbringing.

3. Remus would be Remus, the quiet shy kid with loving parents, but I'd also headcanon him as asexual because from what I interpreted from canon, he didn't have any previous relationships with anyone before Tonks and seemed to show little to no interest in relationships.

4. Peter would be a complex but delightful character to write because I would want to write him as part of the Marauders but he'd be driven to the dark side.

5. Snape won't be a total villain and won't be a total saint. He'd lean more into being a villain as he grows up because he is one.

6. Lily would have an actual personality and would be important in the story.

7. James won't be a man of colour because I honestly don't know much about South Asian culture (I'm a woman of colour but not South Asian) and also because I've seen lots of people make him to be brown but there is no culture ever mentioned. I'd like to adhere to canon so he'd still be white.

Anyways, we can discuss more details in DMs. I'll DM you if you reply back to this and say you want to talk about it. I'm just not comfortable revealing my Tumblr account here because I have an AO3 account where I write fanfics and I'd honestly would rather just not deal with trouble.

I was in the Marauders fandom in the 2010's and came back here recently and can someone tell me what on God's green earth has happened? Since when did Regulus become such an important character? Since when did Sirius become this feminine stereotypical man? Lily being forgotten?? And though I know people will hate to hear it but the current Mauarders fandom is fetishising the idea of two men together and are making the female character irrelevant because "she gets in the way" of the gay ship. Miguel and Robby’s argument in season 6 still doesn’t sit right with me. Don’t get me wrong, Miguel had every right to call Robby out but the way he went about it was so wrong. There was no encouragement and understanding from Miguel at all. But if the roles were reversed and had that been Robby, people wouldn’t hesitate to call him out and would even go as far as calling him racist had he said the things Miguel did.

miguel’s writing in the later seasons is … disappointing. overall the writers just suck… tbh it sucks to see that the legacy of a trilogy about peace kindness and very much anti bullying, became- well that.

robby and sam remain the only characters that actually follow up the trilogy’s sentiment.
