June 2025 Monthly Progress Summary!
Hey guys so we’re gonna (try) to do little summaries of stuff we have been working on every month-ish! This will be a way to sort of show and figure out where things stand if we haven’t updated in a bit. Hope you guys like this idea!
Things that have already been completed for the next update:
An update to the customization room. It was bothering Draco so they made it fancier.
New swing mechanics. Complete with your character actually sitting on said swings. (We will be adding more swings around the map in the future)
Beta engine transferred to Kasai Classic. This means all features the beta engine has are going to be available in the classic game. Some of those include: terrain tilt, individual part coloring of accessories, optimization improvements, spawn options, etc.
Expanded material groups for all models with a large increase in variety of materials to pick from. This selection might gain a couple additions by the time we release the update.
Things that are in progress for the next update:
Ability to change what kind of back decoration you have (meaning spikes/fur/etc). Currently we have the system figured out, but we have to set up a couple more options before it can be considered actually complete. This addition will also make Carl, Kevin, and Not Lisa bald. Sorry.
Ability for said back decoration to have their materials changed. This is utilizing a pretty janky system in which I can name a color group in a script for the accessories to match. However, that means there will be “ghost coloring groups”. They will show up on the body menu but not change any colors. This is because we’re cheesing things with what we have so if you see this it is intentional and not a bug.
Set up of multiple new accessories. Most of which are only fitted on the Euro/Western model right now, and we still have more to get set up/corrections to make on a bunch. (Draco accidentally kept forgetting to set primary parts, turn off collisions, and add color groups … oops)
New fur for eastern. This is currently 1/3rd done sitting on a file in blender. Gods save Draco.
Griffin receiving the dragon accessories and vice versa. We decided to un-species lock accessories from now on with the more basic/generic species models.
More accessory categories. There are a lot already but more are probably gonna be added as we finish up.

FAQ
What happened to the Legends of Kasai games?
Development was paused for a few years in order to give everyone on staff a mental health break, but we've since resumed development! It's still unclear how often we'll update but we have some big things planned.
Why are we updating Kasai: Classic instead of Kasai: Beta?
Due to the sheer size of the map, Beta is currently very difficult to update. We're experimenting with improvements in Classic that we will later add to Beta once we're confident in the direction we want to go in, particularly with map improvements. Both games will be receiving the GUI and remodeling updates.
Are you planning on adding mobile compatibility?
Yes! There are a few major updates we need to complete first. The GUI is currently not mobile compatible and the player models are also too laggy for mobile. Once the models and the GUI are redone, we will be able to release the game to mobile players.
What do we have planned for the games?
GUI overhaul. This is the biggest update we're currently working on and is also being used as an umbrella for a lot of other features we want to add, including a RGB wheel and input, expanded color palettes, expanded materials, an invisibility material, an improved accessory system, and other QoL features. Remodels for all the current models (European dragon, Eastern dragon, wyvern, and griffin). These are currently very old and the largest source of lag in the games -- about 3k tri each, for those of you that know what that means. Once all of these are finished, we can start looking into adding new species. Map improvements. The terrain in the games is the second largest source of lag. We're experimenting with a hybrid terrain and part system which will both make the map look cooler and reduce lag. More accessories. There's a lot of accessories we designed but never released so we're working on updating those and adding them to the game as a small update so the GUI update won't feel like it's taking as long.
What won't we add to the games?
Combat and survival mechanics. The games are meant to be a laid back hangout and role-play game and we will not be creating content around combat and survival mechanics. Premium currency. We're very opposed to paywalls both in our games and in others. It's unclear at this point if there will never be in-game currency, likely at most it will be for role-play purposes only. Gacha mechanics. We will not be adding a gacha system for acquiring accessories, species or body modifications. There are enough games out there already built around gacha systems.
