Of the many inspirational things I saw this summer on my honeymoon, Caen and the beaches of Normandy was right up there. I have lots of family that fought and died in both World Wars, but seeing a monument halfway around the world for the Calgary Highlanders (who I later learned were in Operation Jubilee in Dieppe, kicked ass on D-Day and played a huge role in the liberation of Caen and Northern Europe) really made everything click. Rest in peace to the fallen, comfort to those currently living with the scars of war, and infinite prayers for peace on this day of remembrance. #lestweforget #remember #yyc (at Caen, France)
