Sigil: "Creative success"
Tumblr media
If drawing, draw this somewhere on the paper where it won't cover your artwork, then erase it when you are done. If writing, add the picture to your document while you are working on it, then remove it upon the document's completion.

Blessings! I pulled a card about a potenital new lover, and I drew the page of cups. May I ask how you would interpret this card?
The Real Deal with Tarot’s Pages
The Kings in Tarot are the Fixed signs of their suit. While the Queens are the Cardinals, and the Knights are the Mutables.
So being Fixed Water makes Scorpio the King of Cups… being Cardinal Fire makes Aries the Queen of Wands… and so on.
But the Pages are not so precise. Nine out of ten times, they are one of three things: a messenger, a child, or you.
As a messenger, they can be of any Zodiac sign. As a child, they can be anyone from a toddler to a young teen. And as you, they are your current state of mind.
PAGE OF WANDS
As a messenger, he brings news about something you are passionate about, be that a person, a hobby, or a TV show.
As a child, he is an extrovert. Someone who loves to play outside, is energetic and sporty, and has a lot of friends.
As yourself, he is you at your most excited and passionate. Planning a trip… redecorating your apartment… anything that ignites you.
PAGE OF CUPS
As a messenger, he brings news about love. An invitation to dinner and a movie. A compliment. A flirtatious text or comment.
As a child, he is the sweetest. The kind who always tells their parents they love them and compliments strangers in public.
As yourself, he is you at your kindest. When you do favors for others or help out a friend or a stranger, expecting nothing in return.
PAGE OF SWORDS
As a messenger, he brings clarity. He tells you if you got the job or not. If your crush likes you back or is into someone else entirely.
As a child, he is intelligent. The math wiz or the next great poet. The clearly gifted. He tends to be introverted, distant and quiet.
As yourself, he is you at your most determined. Finishing a thesis… working double shifts… anything precise or intellectual.
PAGE OF PENTACLES
As a messenger, he brings news about stability. Financial stability pertaining to a job, or stability in a commitment with someone you love.
As a child, he is hardworking. He has a part-time job, and helps his parents paint the fence, clean the car and whatnot. He likes to get busy.
As yourself, he is you not taking shortcuts. Reading the whole textbook when you only need to study a chapter… working harder than expected of you.
In the rare moments when Pages represent a partner or a potential lover, they are simply embodying the Knights, Queens or Kings of their suit. But the reason they appeared instead of them is to alert you that this person is either younger in age than you, or childish through and through.

Hello! I would like to know what is your opinion on the moon card. I read a lot of negative interpretations while I have the intuition that it is not its only meaning. Thank you
The Moon is not your friend.
After your tumultuous brush with The Devil and The Tower, The Star encourages you to keep the faith, but The Moon reminds you that you are far from safe.
It is the last barrier that stands between you and all the happiness and victory that The Sun and The World have to offer.
So no. The Moon really is not your friend.
It is a bearer of bad news, who informs you that there are truths and secrets you have not uncovered yet. That there is evil in and around you which remains undefeated.
But the fact that it is not your friend does not mean it is a villain.
Like the dark clouds that warn of a coming storm so you can seek shelter, The Moon is your sign to prepare for bad weather.
Do not look for warmth from The Moon. You will not find any. What it offers is just enough light so you can spot a hidden enemy.

Hi! I’ve taken up tarot recently after a long time of having an odd pull (i guess? I’m not really sure how to explain it?) towards it. I instantly fell in love with tarot, but I feel like I lack a connection with my deck. Any advice on how to build one?
How to Create a Bond with Your Tarot Deck
Formally introduce yourself.
Use it often.
Acknowledge the card that it assigns to you.
Respect its identity.
Do not cleanse it.
Never ask it the same question twice.
Do not use it for spying.
Never dismiss its predictions.
Never use another deck to confirm its answers.
Read with it when you are emotional.
Use it for spells and curses.
Do not talk about it negatively.
Do not blame it for your own mistakes.
Do not pull away from it.
Do not think of it as evil.
Deal your cards the right way.
Shuffle your cards correctly.
Respect tradition.
Practice etiquette, conduct and decorum.
Do not anger it.
Trust it.

Tarot Idea: Shuffle your deck. Take the cards from the very top and very bottom. The bottom is buried pain, whilst the top is divine advice.

☀️ Yule Energy Sun Spell ☀️
Recently I’ve been feeling burnt out, and I was struggling to find a spell to do on Yule, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone!
Tumblr media
feel free to alter this spell as needed
ingredients
☀️ a gold/yellow candle
☀️ orange, lemon, and grapefruit* slices, preferably dried
☀️ one full orange
☀️ a cup or chalice
steps:
☀️ lay your fruit slices in a circle around you and your altar and say: “with each slice that i place, i make this circle my sacred space.”
☀️ light your candle
☀️ grab your full orange and wave it through the smoke, visualise the energy of the sun transferring into the orange
☀️ once you’ve decided you’ve waved in the smoke for long enough, take your orange and squeeze its juice into the chalice/cup
☀️ when you have enough juice to drink, stop squeezing and drink all the juice
☀️ once finished, thank the sun for lending you his energy and blow out your candle
…and there you have it! Merry Yule!
* you can substitute these with any citrus fruit, lemon, orange, and grapefruit are just my preferred fruits for this spell

When pulling cards for a reading how do you know which ones to pull?
Traditional Ways of Dealing Tarot Cards
1) Drawing from the top of the deck
Overhand shuffle the deck, then cut. Draw however many cards you need from the top of the deck. But also include the card at the bottom. If you are performing a spread of 10 cards, for example, either draw the first nine from the top, and the tenth from the bottom; or draw the ten cards from the top, and turn over the deck, to include the card at the bottom as an additional message.
2) Pulling from a fanned out deck
Overhand shuffle the deck, then cut. Put in on the table and fan it out. Pull however many cards you need. Either choose the ones you are drawn to, or use numerology. For example, if you need three cards, and your birthday is on August 12, 1998, pull the eighth card from the left, the twelfth card from the middle of the fan, and the ninth card from the righthand end (8 for August, 12 for 12th, 9 from 1 + 9 + 9 + 8 = 27; 2 + 7 = 9).
3) Taking the cards that leap out
Overhand shuffle the deck, and wait for the cards to leap out themselves. Keep shuffling until you have the number of cards you need. The cards may leap out one at a time, or altogether. Make sure you read the cards in the position they landed — if they came out upright, they are to be read that way; if they came out reversed, read them as such. This is your cards narrowing down their meaning for you.

Friendly reminder that smudging is not in fact the same as smoke cleansing and is in fact an indigenous ceremony that should not be appropriated.
There are COPIOUS ways for us white witches to practice our craft without bastardizing a million different cultural traditions.
And hey, you can still burn (responsibly sourced) herbs if you want, just don't act like you know what smudging is because it's not just fanning sage smoke around your bedroom.
(feel free to reblog with other examples of cultural practices that keep being appropriated)

Tarot Cards that are Marvelous When Reversed
Reversed cards like to rain on your parade, delaying what is hoped for and dampening what is great. But not all of them are villainous. These ones are especially auspicious.
The Devil
The ropes around you are loosening. Your liberation is coming.
Five of Cups
Pain has been dealt. Grief has been felt. Sorrow can now begin to melt.
The Moon
What is hidden will come to light. All will once again be clear and bright.
Five of Wands
Conflicts are almost over. Furious minds and hateful hearts will soon feel sober.
The Hanged Man
What is delayed is now in position. Action will soon succeed stagnation.
Four of Cups
A farewell to dullness and apathy. You will soon have a reason to be very happy.
Three of Swords
Forgiveness will be given or received. Your agony will hence be relieved.
The Tower
You survived or avoided a disaster. What awaits now are greener pastures.
Ten of Swords
The worst of it is over. From this moment, it all starts to get better.
Nine of Swords
There are no more reasons to worry. You can stop being scared and weary.
Five of Pentacles
All that you lost and all that you lack are now, at last, on their way back.
Knight of Swords
Sympathy and gentleness will banish cruelty and recklessness.
Eight of Swords
Remove now your blindfold. What was once copper has been turned into gold.
Ten of Wands
The heaviness will lift. You will put down your burdens and set them adrift.
Five of Swords
You are moving on from defeat. Enough of the bitter, and more of the sweet.

Old-time Tarot Meanings My Grandma Taught Me
The Star is a bad card.
It says, “No, this is nothing but wishful thinking.” It represents endless hoping, with nothing ever happening.
The Nine of Wands is victory.
This man never grew complacent after his past triumph. Such vigilance will ensure he also wins the next battle.
The Ten of Wands is abundance.
That man is not burdened. He is carrying his harvest home. It is heavy, but he is happy.
The Three of Pentacles is achievement.
A stone mason from a humble background has managed to earn the respect of both Church and State.
The Four of Pentacles is the ideal man.
He treats his other half as his treasure. He is protective of and affectionate towards her.
The Five of Pentacles is true love.
The leper and the beggar are true to their marriage vows: “To have and to hold, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, till death do us part.”
The Five of Cups predicts death.
When preceded by the Ten of Swords, the Five of Cups means someone dear to the querent will pass away soon.
The Queen of Swords is a spinster.
The other kings and queens are couples. But she is the King of Swords’ older unmarried sister.
The Lovers is sanctioned by the gods.
This person is the partner the heavens created for you. While the Two of Cups is a partner you choose.
The Tower predicts an inheritance.
When preceded or followed by Death, The Tower means someone will die and leave you an inheritance, or another windfall will come that will forever change your life for the better.
