I've seen a lot of No One Knows AUs out there. They've all got one thing in common: Danny dies alone.

But what if, hear me out, what if Sam and Tucker were there, like in cannon, and they still ended up not knowing. Not because they had their memories erased or anything, but because the very first power Danny got, the first thing he did on dying, before he'd even finished being electrocuted, was to duplicate himself?

So, instead of seeing Phantom come out of the portal and then turn back into Fenton, Sam and Tucker see Phantom, glowing and messed up and covered in radiation-green lichtenburg figures, carry Danny, limp, barely conscious, out of the portal?

Danny's having the most fucking surreal experience, of course; he's a ghost - he's dead; he's not a ghost - he's alive. He's seeing through both sets of eyes, feeling through both sets of hands, hearing through both sets of ears - but also, thinking with both brains, so it's not hard at all to coordinate two bodies separately.

So, no one knows. Not Sam and Tucker. Not any of the ghosts. Not Vlad. No one - but Danny. No one knows they're the same person, that Danny Fenton and the ghost Phantom are a halfa like Vlad Masters/Plasmius. Though, uh... it would be kind of hard to miss that they're connected somehow, when Phantom always shows up to rescue Danny Fenton, when Fenton always needs the restroom right before a ghost attack, and seems tired and distracted when he comes back and the rest of the class rushes to the window to watch Phantom fight.

Even Spectra hits the wrong nail on the head and hammers a screw instead when she taunts Danny about being "nothing but a battery for a heartless blob of ectoplam" and Phantom about "not having a face or form of his own and having to attach himself to some human nobody like the pathetic parasite he is." She does enough damage there to think she's got them, even though she's wrong, because it sounds an awful lot like what Jack and Maddie say about ghosts, and like what the other kids say about Danny.
