#fashionfriday post Mona May’s costume design for the 1995 rom-com Clueless established a fashion legacy that set the tone in fashion for decades after it premiered. The outfits featured in the movie pushed past the limitations of nineties fashion looks and continuously influences today’s fashion trends. The grunge movement took over the nineties, but the fashion world urged for something more, something that broke boundaries. The costume design for Clueless was inspired by mod fashion from the sixties and colorful trends from the seventies and early eighties. These outfits caused a shift in the remainder of nineties fashion. Clueless showcased outfits that were colorful, playful, and preppy, the complete opposite of the grunge aesthetic. Twenty-six years later, the outfits that appeared in the hit movie are still slipping in and out of style. Cher Horowitz’s wardrobe is still the most desired in movie history. This trip came about when Ikponmwosa’s cousin called her and said she wanted to do something big for her twin sister’s 50th birthday. She suggested a holiday and told her that her travel agent booked an all-inclusive hotel in Cancun, Mexico.
