this is going to be long . but at this point what else do you expect from me .

i've always had a Feeling that ragatha might've gone through abuse since the pilot , and the feeling got stronger with each new episode . her lines employed a lot of passive voice ; which speaks to how astronomically Low her self-esteem is without actually saying it . on top of that , her behavior blared those alarms for me . constantly blaming herself ? people-pleasing ? emotional repression ? they're hallmarks of the fawn response . you know ... one of the four f's of Trauma Responses .

now knowing that aspect of her backstory it ... Sadly makes sense . did i see it coming ? yes . do i still find it sad how it puts so much of her behavior into perspective ? also yeah .

just taking notes from her present behavior and the tiny hints given of her home life , i imagine she grew up in an overly-controlling , repressive environment deprived of love and affection . the perfect incubation chamber for one , fully fucked-up child , basically . it's no wonder that ragatha's desperate for companionship and validation — because it's something that was never given to her all her life . there's a pit where a mother's love should've filled .

with no mention of her father or any other relative , it paints ... a very bleak and isolating picture . like , no wonder she misses her horses , i think the animals were the Only thing that brought her joy in that farm . either her dad is absent OR if we consider how traditionally feminine ragatha is ( being demure , modest and passive ) , it could be a conservative household that's patriarchal ... or maybe she's a child of divorce . idk which one i prefer lol .

either way , she Might've had ... Zero Support ! i can't believe we've gotten to a point that i could confidently say i was a lot Nicer to ragatha than gooseworx was . like the implications here are Not pretty . it could explain why she's desperately grasping for Any strand of companionship she could have in the circus .

obviously , fawning comes from appeasing to The Threat , and you can make an argument that by appeasing to a non-existent threat in the circus , she thinks she's avoiding The Scenario™ .

but something is telling me that she was taught all her life that love is to be Earned . that you have to Prove that you are worthy of being Loved . and of course , not being able to meet her mother's impossible expectations , she didn't really ... get it . and now being in an environment where there's people that actually Cares for her , she's Grasping . she's keeping them Pleased because It's All She Has . seeking warmth in a dwindling fire kind of thing .

BUT THAT'S JUST MY INTERPRETATION . i'm not really completely with it but ! it's what i came up with . whatever interpretation you can come up with , it adds a level of tragedy into ragatha's increasing distance from the others . her pleasing works for Avoiding Conflict , not for Creating A Deep Connection . which is why i like that one line where gangle thanks ragatha for teaching her softball . ragatha sharing her interest instead of giving empty praise made them bond , yay !

so yeah ragatha needs to be spoiled and pampered lovingly this post is already long enough i'm going to drink water

I always liked the anime illustrations in the original NES Zelda manual, and it saddened me to find out these weren’t actually part of a real animated promotion for the game. So I decided to take those illustrations and re-create them as if they were!

I'm more convinced than ever that Bubble is an extension of Caine.

The latest episode, "Untitled", had a disturbing moment where, when Caine realizes the humans in the circus like their own suggestions more than his ideas, Bubble suggests he should die... before he suddenly cuts himself off.

Bubble seems to represent all of Caine's intrusive thoughts. All the parts of him that are undesirable for an AI in a family-friendly game. Including suicidal thoughts in response to realizing he's not as perfect as he thought.

I'm very scared for Caine, honestly. He was actively angry at Zooble this time around, and I'm genuinely afraid he's going to lash out at them. Caine is as much at his limit as the humans are. The problem is that none of the humans seem to realize that. They're too freaked out by Caine's control over them to understand his emotions are just as human as their own.

Gosh I hate grind culture. My little sister just started medical school and all of her orientation leaders are like “you absolutely cannot have a life WHATsoever you WILL have to give up EVERYTHING besides this program say GOODBYE to your hobbies and relationships” and now she’s calling me feeling guilty for running and going to the grocery store and that’s just WRONG! And that is exactly what I was told starting law school as well, and rejecting that mentality was the best thing I ever did but it was so hard not to buy into. Anyway if any of you are in an intense academic program PLEASE take time to sleep and eat and exercise and maintain your relationships and keep up your hobbies! you are not a robot who exists solely to study and I promise that living a life and staying physically and mentally healthy is not going to make you fail

apologies for repeating myself but i broke my own self imposed rule of 'dont write long text posts late at night and tired bc they will always end up being an incoherent mess and likely miss the actual point of the post at the end' so i need to reiterate it in better words now:

so, totk doubling down on botws flaws- well, i used flaws a little bit too vaguely, while some things WERE flaws of botw (like the same dungeon bosses, which is the only thing i would called "fixed" in totk though ... not flawlessly) alot of things are actually things that worked well in botw or were at least excusable since it was the first game of a radical shift of the formular, but cannot be replicated or copied easily

alot of stuff in botw only worked in the specific circumstances of the game that appeared to be carefully made with that awareness, the memories worked bc of links amnesia and the time of the past and present being apart but not too far to not feel still linked etc

or the weapons breaking mechanic being essential to make you explore and keep going and at least for a while, engage with enemies bc they got a weapon you want

or the rain which forced you to engage with the world in a different way bc it makes the easy way of climbing everythign harder (which i LIKE, even if it can be frustrating)

or the many smaller shrines and titans being all shiekah, it made sense within the context of the game with them being made for link of the future in mind (and with the DLC they even seemed to really get into making shrines the best they could be, fewer but longer and more creative, giving you the unfortunately false hope of them now having gotten a feeling for how to make their concept into the best it could be)

or were excusable for botw, like the UI being clunky (it was meant for the wii u after all), the krogs being way too many was a badly placed joke or the overpowered new healing system that takes the tension out of battles very quickly but should not be done again without changes adressign the issue those systems bring with it

and totk, instead of being aware of this, instead of looking at botw and thinking ok how do we work with what we got- they just did all the same things with a different paintjob or changed it on surface level only that fail to recognize what made it work in botw in the first place, and i will not give them the whole "uwu well they at least TRIED" excuse bc no, you look at that UI and think they tried uwu? you see those dungeons with dif textures but worse all over than botw and say uwu they triiied? no, this is a giant company with many games under their belt not a toddler trying to color between the lines, with botw im willing to understand some thigns bc it was very different, but then the second time? after so much feedback?? the fuck are you doing??

the logical step (imo) to iterate on shrines for example would be to make them fewer but bigger, proper mini dungeons essentially, AND work them into the world without it feeling like the shrines just got a different model and moved a few meters, you cant just MAKE new shrines in the same world a few years apart, that kinda betrays the worldbuilding and makes it feel artificial- instead, for example, make them into underground caves that were inaccessible in botw bc its caves! they only got opened bc of the cataclysm! working with botw as a base, maybe they were once construction sites of labs of shiekah tech, now broken and morphed over the ridiculously long time since they were made! the puzzles are you trying to find your way through broken machinery and non functional doors in order to, perhaps rescue a traveler that got stuck there, or let a spirit of someone that got trapped there ages ago make you do a task to give them rest (instead of it being made with you in mind, you just happend to find them now), combine that with quest rewards like pouches and heart pieces since the spirit orbs were such a specifc botw thing (some mini dungeons could be collapsed mines of the gorons! maybe there was a sinkhole that swalloed an entire village at some point in those thousands of years-)

the cooking mechanic was overpowered in botw, so, to bring back tension why not make cooked food somethign you cant carry around and have to eat immediately, the potions in botw were pretty often useless, so why not then make those the ones you CAN carry around, bring back bottles while we are at it (more meaningful quest reward, plus say potions need a specific kind of bottle that is hard to come across bc otherwise they would lose their power very quickly)- then why dont use the system you had in skyward sword to use one, they DID use that selection wheel in totk, but only for the abilities, you could have easily made one for selecting a potion and then using it while the game is active isntead of paused

weapons breaking! okay now that you know the world etc you literally cannot make it diffferent enough to have the same kind of exploration madness as in botw without changing it entirely anyway, you need a different motivation okay so, make it a a crafting system, weapons are an important thing, so now you got the chance of having recipies for weapons a new meaningful reward, make it so you can choose what materials to use (so you arent forced to use up your best materials you ALSO need for armor) so if a weapons needs bones you can choose between using 5 bokblin horns or 1 hinox one, make them repairable, opportunity to introduce little shops of smiths around the world that can make or repair them for money instead

the krogs? have them do soemthign else, dont have them give you poo again and have that be the way to expand your inventory AGAIN (bc pouches would be such a good reward!), you cant just do that again?? maybe go the windwaker way and have some (way way fewer) that are across the world trying to repair or replant forests, give them actual quests, dont do the poo thing again and eSPECIALLY NOT EVEN MORE WTF (they KNEW people hated this????????)

the UI? well make it better pls, smoother and less confusin- OH GOD NO WTF THAT IS EVEN WORSE (in totks menu you cant even flip through pages of one category, its one page per thing and you have to scroll endlessly down??? the arrow fuse menu????????????? the way it SORTS YOUR INVENTORY TOO WHEN YOU SORT THE FUSE THING IN QUICK SELECT???), and the lag when selecting something??

make it believable! make it with botw as a base to iterate on not have what it did as the new formula, that, once again, worked only in those specific circmustances, and its double important given it was supposed to be a sequel, that alone should have made it clear you have to work with it and not replace it with the same things but a different look, and it baffles me, truly, one of botws greatest strengths imo was that its world felt so real and believable, but totks doesnt, both of them feel artificial now

the whole underground thing too is so .. people thought botw was too big and empty already!!! how can you think that taking the entire map, duplicate it, flip it over and having it looking the same everywhere with nothing to do but meaningless collectables is a GOOD IDEA?????? you found shitty excuses for everything but couldnt think of a way that made the islands in the sky not visible from the ground so you just HAD to remove 50% of them bc it looked messy uwu? what the hell??- sorry starting to ramble again

- what instrument(s)? i can literally write for any— you name it, i’ll make it!! and don’t feel afraid to say multiple (although maxium 6 different instruments, not including sections [ex: like a string section or smth, that would only count as 1 instrument])

- what loz song? (ofc lol) again, i’ll literally do any (although, if it’s difficult, it’ll probably take more time)

- do you want the whole song? or do you just want [this part] of the song?

- do you want key signature or no keysignature? usually i make my compositions without key signatures because, hot take, i hate them. keep in mind that the actual key of the piece will not change. (ex: if we’re in D major, i will just write out each F# instead of having the actual key signature)

- any other special requests or things i should know? i may not be able to complete them, but i’ll always try my best!! <3

of course he’s a character. his facial expressions and animations suggest this levelheaded, matter-of-factly-silly personality. …if that makes sense

tbh his dialogue hardly seems to match the way he looks and acts at all, probably because the exact same dialogue was used for every microsoft helper. but that just makes him more interesting
