I think anxiety is so underutilised in whump. I see a lot of whumpees who are scared or experiencing intense panic, usually in direct response to triggers, but I need more of that subtle feeling of dread.

Something's wrong, something's following them, something bad is going to happen. Can Whumpee identify that something? No. Is that something actually everything? Maybe. They don't know. What triggered them? Also no idea. Is the feeling bad enough to cause an obvious breakdown? Not yet...

Give me the build up to the panic. They become quiet, perhaps a little restless. A pit is slowly deepening in their chest. Maybe they start to feel sick. Give me the desperate search for distractions to delay the inevitable. Give me Whumpee trying to redirect their thoughts to something good, anything else at all, but they keep looping back to The Threat.

Give me all of that, and have no one around Whumpee notice.

I won't lie, when it comes to Adachi/Reader fics, I don't see myself writing anything featuring non-con with him, because 1) It's already done to death, 2) Goonette readers/readers who are in love or sexually attracted to male characters create a more interesting relationship dynamic in my opinion, and 3) I want that man to be happy for once.

Of course, maybe it's due to the fact Adachi himself is extremely sensitive to rejection, but I find it so much more fascinating to explore what he would be like with a girlfriend or someone who returns his feelings/sexual attraction. Honestly, because he canonically never had someone be into him before, I would rather place Adachi into more wholesome situations or lean into his more sweet, sentimental side.

Plus, it's so damn funny, imagining how bamboozled he'll be when a girl he finds cute proceeds to confess she's in love with him or comes onto him first. Why, the most problematic thing I'll probably write featuring Adachi is him fucking someone's wife/girlfriend, but said wife/girlfriend would want him to fuck her.

I mean, yes, it's unfortunately not out of character for him to prey on women and Adachi haters might even argue he doesn't deserve to be happy after everything he did, but I personally don't think he's a total monster; in fact, I like to think he's capable of love as well so any of my fics involving him would contain an element of wholesomeness to it (aka he'll be both mean and sensitive, cause that's personally the way I happen to see him).

Like, don’t get me wrong, I am still a gooner at heart HOWEVER— the idea of Adachi somehow getting a girlfriend because she actually likes him is both funny and opens up some space for other kinds of conflict.

ESPECIALLY if this all happens during the span of the game in the midst of of the tv murders.

How far would he be willing to go to things secret? What would he do if the one person that he’s close to found out it was him? Would it lead to a different accomplice ending?
