Had a great day and had to pause and reflect about the amazing things I have witnessed as I enter my 38th year. The Dom was to not just celebrate my birthday (I could seriously drink any champagne), however this 2006 Vintage I was saving for a special occasion, and when my mom asked me what we would drinking, this just felt right. It’s amazing to think that one day I will have to explain to children (potentially mine and/or others) about life before Google and social media. How you had to “request” a song from the radio to record it and pray that the DJ either didn’t have a long intro or cut the song short. How we remembered phone numbers on a regular basis (technically when you have parents who worked for the phone company you still can remember numbers for some reason now). How we will have to explain how many achievements we saw, and also not being aware of the “history” that was being experienced in your day to day activities and life. I feel blessed and grateful to enter this 38th year of my life and finishing this beautiful day with a Spiced Pear Old Fashion (a lovely person suggested I drink bourbon today and I did, thanks for that suggestion). I am truly obsessed with making my own #gyoza including the wrappers from scratch, I cannot wait to do this again! This has been my first time making them and it is really helping the travel blues. A year ago I was in #Japan and it is crazy to think of where the world is now. When your breakfast burrito just didn’t cut it; have some fun and make some avocado toasts. I will be honest and say that I can count the times on one hand that I have actually purchased Avocado Toast somewhere. The first time I ever had it is after reading about it as a #Tartine and decided it was an easy breakfast so I made it. It was hard to justify paying over $5-$7 for something that cost a fraction of the price that I could make at home and super easy to make.
