Surely my Prayer, all my acts of worship, and my living and
my dying are for Allah alone, the Lord of the whole universe.
Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal’ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaal.
‘O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being overpowered by men.’ (Sunan an-Nasa’I 5449)
This year was definitely the most eye-opening year so far. Palestinians have shown us how Islam is supposed to be practiced. We look for so many excuses to skip prayer, meanwhile, they pray on rubble. We waste so much food, meanwhile, they still share food with others, even when they just have one piece of bread amongst themselves.
They have shown us what it truly means to have faith. From hearing them say, "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel," after a loss, we have also started saying that powerful dua in times of distress. From seeing them pray, no matter what the situation is, we also no longer see any excuse to skip prayer.
From boycotting, we were astonished to truly see just how much money we waste, how much attention we give to these brands, and how easy it is for us to get trapped by this dunya. From watching videos of the smiles of children light up the world after receiving a toy in refugee camps, we have learned to appreciate our safe upbringings more, no matter how traumatising it may have been.
We will never truly understand what it's like to be in their shoes, but I ask Allah to grant us the same level of strength and iman as the people of Gaza and Palestinians have.
A man in a trench fighting the enemies of Allah,
A man who was martyred in the path of Allah,
A man in captivity, staying patient in his shackles,
A man who was wounded, like a lion, waiting for his wound to heal so he can go back to fighting,
And a man who is preparing himself to catch up to those who already went forth.
So if you aren’t among those, then my condolences to your 'masculinity'."
Allah is not pleased with that the one who knew him, and tasted the sweetness of being close to him, and the peacefulness of being connected to him leaves to the love of someone else, or neglects him, so when his servant does such act, he makes his life depressed, and covers him with a dress of weakness and humiliation and helplessness to punish him, or perhaps bring him back.
And from his gheerah, he made immoralities forbidden in public and private, and made the punishment of those who commit them severe in dunyah and akhirah, for he can see his servants at all times, and he hates to see them in sin.
And from His gheerah is that when the first man, Adam عليه السلام , desired to live in Jannah forever instead of obeying his lord, he made him and his offspring exit it until the judgement day.
And from his gheerah, when he noticed that Ismail عليه السلام took a part of the heart of his father ibraheem عليه السلام which Allah used to fill before Ismail was born, he ordered him to kill him, as a test and reminder to Ibraheem عليه السلام.
Beware from Allah, for when he sees that the heart of his servant is filled with the love of someone else, he seals it, and makes returning to his worship hard, and loving him all again almost impossible, and one cannot then blame anyone but himself for choosing someone over his lord.
So when you see your heart darken, and your life worsen, ask yourself, who's the first one you think about when you wake up, and who's the last one you think of before your soul returns to it's creator every night, then you'll know the cause, and returning to your lord will be then the solution.
Woe to those who sold the connection to paradise for a fake temporary enjoyment in Dunyah which leads to an everlasting punishment!
-inspired by Ibn Al Qayyim's commentary on the ayah 28 of surah Aal Imraan.
“We got married six months ago when the war was started. We dreamed of a child who’ll like him. We lived in a simple home, but that felt like a palace in paradise for me. We got displaced, and My husband became a martyr. The occupation killed all our dreams. I have no souvenir of him except these shoes, which will remain with me until I die.”
One day you will perform wudhu and it will be the last time you perform wudhu in your life.
One day you will hear the adhan, and it will the last time your ears will hear the adhan in your life.
One day you will raise your hands in salah, and it will be the last time you raise your hands in salah in your life.
One day you will bow down in sujood, and it will be the last time you bow down in sujood in your life.
One day you will say Salaam to a fellow Muslim, and it will be the last time you say Salaam to someone in your life.
One day you will make a dua, and it will be the last time you make a dua for something in your life.
One day you will pray in congregation, and it will be last time you will ever pray in congregation in your life.
Only Allah knows when these last moments will be for us. Perhaps they have already occured, perhaps they will occur soon. The only thing we do know is that we will all experience these "last moments"
And just like we walk through so many doors to go from one room into another every single day, one day our souls will walk through a door in which we leave this world and enter into the akhirah forever.
May Allah make the last of our deeds the best of our deeds and allow us to die in a state of complete and humble submission to Him.
