It hurt to write cause I want her to be with the polycule 😭😭😭😭 but logically it was the right choice and it’s what was best for her
Not canon at all. Just a fun ‘what if’ kinda story
Would You Change Your Fate?
If Vlk could change the past… would she?
She had never considered the option before, it never even crossed her mind to do something differently. But she had the chance now. She could change any one thing in her entire life and afterlife.
Decision made she felt herself get flung back into something solid. She gasped and got to her feet, looking around. The forest she grew up in with the stench of smoke floating by bitterly. She could hear the river rushing not too far away. She looked around and noticed a small dirt mound with a dead animal on it.
As soon as where she was clicked all her memories of making the deal and her past life were gone.
And suddenly there was an impatient hiss to her left, “Well?”
She turned and eyed the hand that was being extended to her. “Well what?” She sneered back, stepping away from the stranger who had just confessed to knowing the crime Vickey had just committed.
The stranger grit her teeth a moment before moving her hand, “Are you gonna take the deal or not? I train you and give you everything you ever want. In return, I own you.”
Vickey took another step back and pushed the outstretched hand away from her. “No thanks. I just freed myself from being owned. Not getting right back in.”
“Just give me a one day trial period? To show you how well I can spoil you.” There was a certain glint in the stranger’s— well Vickey now remembered she had introduced herself as Mary—eyes. Lust.
The offer was tempting for a moment but she declined. “No thank you.” She turned on her heels and walked away. Or tried to. Her wrist was grabbed and sharp nails dug into her skin.
“You don’t get to walk away from me like that! I know what you’ve done. I can tell everyone how you killed your own parents in cold blood.”
Vickey laughed and yanked her hand free from Mary’s grip. “I haven’t killed anyone.” She said, grinning, “And I know the police will believe me when I tell them that.” Mary seethed as Vickey left, still laughing to herself. Planning to murder your parents and actually going through with it were two vastly different things.
She had made her way to the police station and explained through tears that she had been kidnapped when her house was set ablaze and had just escaped. She made sure they knew how scared she was. When asked for a description of the man that had done all this to her family, her home, and herself, she sheepishly admitted her kidnapper was a girl and gave them Mary’s description, just to really spite the creep. The legal process was long and she got tired of being questioned fairly quickly but went along with it.
Given her age, 17, she wasn’t technically a legal adult yet. But her parents were dead and she did not want to go into foster care and risk having another horrible home life. She filed to be emancipated the same day she reported Mary. Unfortunately she didn’t have a job so until she did she was placed in an orphanage. She was quick to find a job, well three since they could only hire her part time. Every day she was either working as a housekeeper, a nursery attendant, or a McDonald’s cashier. It kept her busy and her mind off her more dark thoughts. The kids in particular kept the depression at bay, she loved kids.
Eventually she was making enough and had enough references that she was able to get emancipated. She bought a small apartment and decorated it, something she had never been allowed to do previously. She had a few stolen watches on her nightstand, a bad habit she could never break, and a poster on the wall of a kitten in a tree with the words ‘just hang in there’. On her vanity she had sticky notes with affirmations and self care tips. Everything was falling into place. She had her own life. She was free of her abusers. It was perfect!
A few years later Vickey was very hesitantly entering a new relationship. Her partner was a guy from work, McDonald’s specifically. He seemed nice? So far anyways, and he encouraged her to seek therapy. She was making enough to afford it now and her mental health had been declining in recent years. So she pulled the trigger and signed up for therapy with a company in town. The therapist she received was a spry young Woman named Willow with two little boys, 3 and 1 years old.
She spoke fondly of them and her husband when she talked. She let Vickey talk about everything… from her traumatic childhood to her new boyfriend to her getting these new feelings for girls she hadn’t had before. Willow didn’t judge despite the majority of town being openly homophobic, she talked Vickey through her harder times and even got her connected to a psychiatrist to get her on some pills for her depression.
“Willow!” Vickey yelled, bursting into her friends office.
“Oh hi! You seem excited today! What’s going on?”
“I’ve finally started to feel the effect of that medicine!! I’ve been able to be happy this week!! There hasn’t been a single day I have laid in bed or contemplated giving up!”
“That’s amazing! I’m so happy to hear that, Vickey! I told you they would help.” She gestured for a chair and Vickey plopped on the couch, laying across it with her hands behind her head.
“I think I’m gonna break up with Kevin.” Vickey said suddenly and when she got a gasp of shock she turned to Willow. “I’m serious. I love him and all but I work too much to be there for him. I can’t provide him with all the love he deserves… I’d rather break his heart now and let him find a person that can give him everything he deserves than stringing him along and not being able to provide.”
“That’s a very rational and caring thing to do.” Willow nodded. “Just be gentle. He’s a nice man and deserves to know why you're leaving him.”
“Of course. I want to make it the least painful I possibly can.” Vickey sighed and brought her hands to her stomach. “I do want a family someday though. Everyone my age is already married and with kids. I’ve always wanted kids. I could take or leave the spouse.”
“Adoption is always an option but you’d definitely have to start working less hours. You can’t keep going at the pace you are anyways. You’ll burn out and that might make your mental state worse.”
“Yeah. But I feel like the jobs are the only thing that keep me going.”
“That’s because they’ve been a distraction and kept your mind off the depression but now that you're medicated and going to therapy I believe it’s time to cut back. Maybe you won’t have to break up after all?”
Vickey made a face at that and Willow made a noise.
“Oh? Is the reason you gave me *not* why you wanna break up?”
“It is!! Mostly…” Vicker sighed and groaned. “But I guess I’m also a little… claustrophobic? Like he’s too clingy when we are together? And I want to experiment with these new feelings but I don’t want to cheat on him, whether emotionally or physically. Does that make me a bad person..? I don’t want to hurt him. He makes me happy. But I can’t imagine a future with him and when I try, all I can think about is a nice wife and two beautiful children.”
“I think you should definitely talk to him. Tell him what you told me and how you love him, just not as a boyfriend.”
Vickey nodded. They talked about some other things but this she took to heart.
When she got home she ended it and gave him a month to move out. She wasn’t in any rush to get him out but she wasn’t apologetic when two weeks later she brought a pretty little thing home. But apparently hearing her ungodly noises was a huge catalyst in getting him out. Vickey had learned some things that night… one thing in particular: Girls fv(kin rock.
Vickey was 27 now. She had continued therapy and enjoyed it. Her life was better. She had wiggled her way into law enforcement and though the starting pay and hours weren’t great she knew she could climb the ranks and improve both those things. All it required was time and effort. She had quit her other jobs when the academy finally accepted her and she had one hell of a shot so, though they hoped she’d never need to use her gun, they knew she’d win in a shootout.
It didn’t take too long to get decent hours, working during the day rather than the night. And soon after that she made a decision… she started the paperwork to be able to foster, something her captain had mentioned. He had been fostering for a few years and he talked about those kids with such love. Vickey knew she could do the same and give any child given to her a good home. She wanted to adopt but figured this would be her first step in the door. The system wasn’t too fond about her not having a partner but she was adamant she could take care of a child. Her first was a 16 year old boy pulled from an abusive home. His father was currently fighting for custody but given a ‘situation’ the boy couldn’t go with him for the time being.
His name was Cody and Vickey welcomed him with open arms. He was only with her for two months and though he was distant, moody, and rude, Vickey loved him. She was sad to see him go.
Her next was a 6 year old boy named Jack. His mother had been injured in a crash and rendered unable to take care of him. No other family would take him so he was given to Vickey. He was outgoing, he was polite, and he absolutely loved birds. Vickey didn’t know the first thing about birds but did she stay up all night to memorize every fact she could and practice the calls of every bird in their area to teach to him? You bet your sweet butt she did! The smile on his face when he heard her do the call of a chickadee or mourning dove would forever have a place in her heart. Watching him learn to perfect them and then relaying them to his mother when they visited her in the hospital, priceless. He was gone in a little under a year, back to his mother where he belonged and Vickey was heartbroken for herself but so so happy for him. He came for visits every now and then and she became a babysitter when Mom needed it.
Life marched on. It had its ups and downs. Vickey had housed hundreds of faces, some for a few days and others for years. She never ended up adopting. If she did she wouldn’t have room for the next kid that needed her help. She expanded her house so she had four spare rooms for kids, she became an expert cook (she had to take a lot of classes but she managed fine after awhile and with so many mouths to feed she got good quickly), she never married though she did date on and off a few times, she advanced in her career, she had it all. Life wasn’t what she had planned but it’s exactly what she needed it to be. It was perfect. She died of old age, a few of her old fosters gathered around her bed and wishing her goodbye.
When she opened her eyes it was bright and warm, gold lacing… everything. She had white fur and beautiful fluffy wings… she had never been a believer but she guessed her good deeds must’ve trumped her disbelief.
She smiled…
…. And very suddenly she was flung forward, back into herself, she was grasping at her chest and heaving for air, bent over a counter. She desperately looked around, the smell of burnt flesh and cigarettes filling her nose. The figure in front of her grinned, “So, which life would you rather have had? Was the one change worth it?”
Vickey was reeling. One change— what one change?! Where was she?! Wait… all those years ago.. that stranger… the extended hand… Mary.
“I… I have to choose?” She choked. Because that was a hard choice. She had lived a good life, she helped people…. Or she lived a bad life but got to meet people like Lilith and Sage and the rest of the polycule and the guard squad…
“You can only have one life.” The smile said, “You’re a fox after all, not a cat.”
Vlk didn’t laugh as she stared down at the two orbs showcasing the best of her lives. In one held her with her foster kids, flashing through images of their faces. The other showed the polycule, Lilith, it even flashed to the beginning of her relationship with Mary where everything was good and nice… she looked between the two for a few more minutes, wanting to remember both for as long as she could.
“Have you made your choice?”
“Yes.” Her paw set gently on the left orb.
In an instant the room was gone. The horrid smell was replaced by cotton candy and flowers. Sage and Lilith were forgotten. Mary was a distant memory of some stalker creep. She didn’t remember making the decision but she was at peace with something she had just done. She stretched and flapped her wings, looking around her new home.

Mary returns 4 (final)
Shortest chapter
Thanks for reading, love y’all!
Roselina: @mirconreadzztuff22
Hazel: @puffymucher
Sage: @theacedragon0w0
Velvette: Hazbin Hotel
Vlk was still asleep after they had made a plan and agreed to what they would do so snagging her phone wasn’t that difficult of a problem. Velvette knew the best that Vlk was terrible with technology and often lost her phone so if Vlk woke up they could claim she probably just lost it again. And texting Mary was simple considering they could just delete the text.
Her password was infant level easy, 4 letters. They all glanced at Sage and she blushed, not having known she was the password. With that out of the way they sent a carefully crafted text to Mary.
Vlk: Dear Mary, Meet me at my apartment. I’m choosing you. -Love, Vlk
(Something the polycule had noticed early on was Vlk always signed off on her text as if she was sending a letter.)
Mary: Finally came to ur senses luv? C u (m) in ten!
They paused and looked at eachother, astonished at how easy it was. Should they send another message? No. Instead they reacted to the message with a thumbs up, something Vlk had learned recently and was doing often.
For a moment velvette rolled over the idea of scrolling up in their texts to see what they were really up to but Hazel shot that down quickly, claiming it a breach of privacy, and though the overlord pouted she did nod in understanding. They deleted the messages and set the phone back where it was before.
The next week Vlk was on the couch, frantically texting. She had just come back from her scheduled meet up with Mary and was panicked.
“Darling? What’s wrong?” Sage asked, putting a hand on Vlk’s shoulder.
The fox flinched but settled quickly. “Mary never showed up to our meeting. She’s never missed a ‘date’ with me before. And they haven’t answered my text in days! I’m getting worried they got hurt or something terrible happened to them!”
“Maybe she moved on?” Velvette said from the other side of the room.
“She wouldn’t! She loves me!”
“Well… maybe they just realized you were happy and didn’t want to mess it up.” Rosalina offered.
“Maybe but… I thought they’d at least say goodbye first… I thought..” her eyes watered and she curled up tightly, squeezing her phone. “I thought they loved me.”
Sage shifted uneasily and Hazel stepped in, “Maybe she loved you enough to know letting go was the best thing for you.”
“Maybe… I just hope they’re okay and happy… that they know that I miss and love them no matter what has happened between us.”
“I’m sure they do.” Sage said reassuringly, coming around the couch and sitting next to their girlfriend.
Vlk leaned against them and buried her face in their neck. The rest of the polycule sat down beside the pair and offered comfort to their grieving partner.

Mary’s return part 3
Probably only one part left
Rosalina belongs to @mirconreadzztuff22
Sage belongs to @theacedragon0w0
Hazel belongs to @puffymucher

The next day Vlk was out of the tower and never came in for work, the polycule obviously assuming the worst, went on a search for her. Hazel and Sage went down to the hotel and Rosalina and Velvette headed down to the fox’s old apartment. They had already scavenged the studio only to come up short.
Rosalina knocked on the door, crouched at a weird angle due to the short ceilings. There was a groan followed by a sharp, “Fvck off I’m busy!” That clearly resembled Mary’s slightly reptilian accent.
Velvette knocked louder and more aggressively, pounding on the door until finally it was opened. Mary’s hands were bloody as she glared at the two, “What do you want?! I said I'm busy!”
“Where’s Vlk?”
“She’s inside. Currently she’s got a gash in her back that won’t stop bleeding so if you’ll excuse me, I have to go deal with that.” Mary’s attempt to close the door got nowhere as Rosalina barged in and Velvette stamped on Mary’s already broken ankle, earning a curse and a cry.
The pair rushed to the bathroom and saw Vlk sitting on a stool, looking tired. She glanced at the mirror and startled. “Hey.” She said awkwardly, immediately grabbing a towel and wrapping it over herself to hide her cut. “What are y’all doing here? Oh what time is it?! Am I late?!”
“Yes, you never showed up, we were worried sick about you! What happened, let me see.” Rosalina insisted, pulling on the towel.
Vlk held tighter, blushing, “No, No it’s okay. It’s just a little scratch. Mary was just patching me up.”
Rosa looked over her, concern evident in every wrinkle.
Velvette shook her head. “Tell us what that b-ch did.”
“That b—ch did nothing, thank you very much.” Mary growled, holding onto the door frame for support. “She got into a fight at a bar and asked me to come patch her up cause I know how to suture wounds. Now if you could let me finish so she doesn’t continue to bleed out that’d be nice.” Mary shoved her way into the room and limped over, sitting on the toilet and tugging on the towel. This time Vlk let it slide off, which did hurt her partners a little.
“I didn’t want you guys to worry.” Vlk muttered, looking astray as Mary picked up where she left off. “And Mary is good at patching me up so I was just gonna have them do it and pretend it never happened.”
Rosa and Velvette glanced at each other before Velvette asked, “What were you doing at a bar, you never drink.” To which Mary laughed loudly.
“What’s so funny?” Velvette growled.
“I used to struggle to keep her out of the alcohol cabinet, no way in hell she got better about it while she was literally in hell where vices are encouraged.”
“I don’t need to drink anymore.” Vlk hissed, ears flat. “I’m on meds that help.”
“Really? The thing I tried to get you on for years?”
“Yes.” Vlk’s voice was tense. “I tried them and they worked and I’ve been on them since. You should be happy I’m not constantly depressed anymore.”
“I- I am but why didn’t you change with me?! What’s different now? You’re in hell you should be living it up like you wanted to, going out killing whoever you want, getting wasted, the whole thing. Instead you’re here getting better?”
Vlk looked at her partners and her face softened slightly before turning back to Mary. “Yes. They encourage me to get better. Unlike you who always brought out my worst flaws.”
“Your best traits.” Mary corrected. They reached over and washed their hands as Velvette asked, “So why the bar?”
“I was in a mood and looking for a fight. Emotions were high, is all. Bar fights are safest ‘cause a bouncer will stop the fight before someone dies.”
Mary hummed and nodded at that.
“Well whatever the reason, I think it’s time to go home. Everyone’s worried about you.”
“Okay. Just let me get dressed.” Vlk smiled softly and carefully made her way to the dresser.
As she was getting dressed Mary and Rosa stared at the other. “I guess that’s my cue to leave?” Mary asked, breaking eye contact and pulling a bottle out of a drawer. She popped one of the pills and put it back before grabbing a makeshift cane and trotting out of the building.
Vlk was brought home and fussed over. Her partners found a few more cuts and bruises that were hidden and a few very distinctive bite marks but didn’t ask questions. Vlk was glad for it as she doubted she could make up another lie.
She went to bed early, rubbing her arms tenderly.
“We’re not letting them get away with this, are we?” Hazel growled when Vlk had left.
“F—k no!” “Definitely not.” “No. I think it’s time we step in.”
“Good.” The hound nodded with an evil grin.

Mary’s return part 2
Immediate and aggressive. How fun.

Vlk shifted a bit at the quiet before Sage peeped up quietly, “Your um.. your ex?”
She nodded excitedly and nudged Mary forward. She didn’t talk much about her life but the group knew a little about Mary. Mainly the bad things. They had killed a child. They had no morals. And when arguments got heated they always resorted to violence. So needless to say seeing Vlk just radiating joy, her tail wagging furiously over this… at very least a terrible person, came as a shock.
Mary assumed the quiet was from awkwardness, they were never too good at social cues, and came forward. Hazel was the closet. She thrust her hand forward and shook Hazel’s firmly. “Mary Wright. All pronouns. Nice to meet you.”
Hazel was a bit shocked at the boldness but nodded regardless. “Names Hazel. Heard a bit about ya.”
“All good things I know.” Mary winked, casting a look back at Vlk whose smile faltered slightly. Mary frowned at the look but quickly fixed her face and went down the line, Velvette, Sage (she/them, Mary learned and was quite excited about), and Rosalina (who was a giant. Obviously Vickey’s taste.). “So.” The sinner stepped back and rocked on their heels a moment, “I am under the assumption you’ve all been great friends and partners to Vickey, and I’d like to continue and form a friendship with you but as the original I’m taking her back.”
Vlk froze a bit, mouth agape and tail tucking. Her mind stopped, she couldn’t process anything and the sudden noise in the room didn’t help at all.
Rosalina laughed at first, but when she realized this puny little runt was actually serious her blood boiled. “Who do you think you are?” She snarled as Sage wailed out, “She doesn’t belong to you! She’s been doing great without you.” Velvette, too, was furious with a shrieking, “You can’t take her. She’s ours! Fvck off, c*nt!” Hazel’s words were drowned out by her immediate and aggressive snarling.
Mary rocked a second more, watching the scene unfold with her hands behind her back. She gave Rosa in particular a little smirk and strode over to Vickey, which had Hazel on her paws and pacing forward. Mary grinned wider and came to a military stop by Vlk, turning around just as abruptly and using her lover as a shield between herself and Hazel.
“Hey hey.” Mary cooed, “Why all the aggression?”
“Ya can’t have ‘er. Come here coward.” Hazel snapped.
The others echoed the chorus and came up beside Hazel, all but Sage towering over Mary and Vlk.
“Why don’t we let her choose?” Mary’s hand on Vlk’s back brought her back to the present.
“Wha?” The fox whispered, looking between all her partners.
“Them or me?” Mary insisted, hand tightening just slightly over Vickey’s new scar.
Vlk’s eyes watered. “Can’t I have both? I just got you back, I can’t lose you again. But I love them all with my entire heart and I can’t lose them either.”
“Choose.” Mary snarled, face tightening into a familiar and terrifying expression.
Vlk hesitated further and was pulled closer to Mary, the demon shoved a sharp fingered hand into Vlk’s chest, where a scarred ‘b’ lay hidden beneath fur. “I OWN YOU!” Mary screamed.
Almost immediately the rest of the polycule was on them, pulling Mary away. Sage, as much as they wanted to help beat in the stupid demon’s face, rushed towards their girlfriend who was bent over, hand clutching her chest and sobbing.
Sage put a hand on her shoulder but Vlk flinched away, backtracking to years before. Not even an hour and she was terrified again.
“I’ve got you. It’s okay.” Sage whispered.
“Don’t hurt her.” Vlk begged quietly, “You can’t let them kill her, please, she means a lot to me.”
Sage bristled at the words, all too familiar. Even still she turned around, “Stop.” She yelled over the commotion of curses and screams.
Rosa paused, dangling Mary in the air by their shirt, choking them inadvertently.
“Don’t kill her.” Vlk repeated desperately when the eyes had turned to her. “Please.. please..” she fell to her knees and the polycule looked at eachother for a minute before Rosalina threw Mary down and they rushed to help Sage comfort Vlk.
Mary gasped for air as soon as she could breath, bruised, bloodied, and a little broken, but seething with rage. “Vickey.” She rasped angrily, “Come here. We’re going home.”
“She’s not going anywhere with you!” Sage snapped. “You’re lucky we’re letting you live, you better get out of here and never come back.”
Mary sneered slightly, forcing herself to stand on a broken ankle and limping towards the group. Hazel bristled and snapped her fangs at Mary.
“Vickey.” Mary started but was interrupted by a firm, “Her name is Vlk.” From Rosa, who put a hand out to stop Mary from getting any closer.
“Vlk.” Mary corrected between clenched fangs. “Look at me.”
The fox did as she was told.
“Breathe. It’s okay.”
A shuddering breath followed by a whine of confusion.
“You know the drill. Count down from ten, deep breaths.”
The polycule didn’t understand the sudden mood shift but it put them on edge. Regardless Mary was talking Vlk through her anxiety.
“Better?” Mary asked after a few minutes, hands clenching every time one of the polycule touched Vlk, rubbing her head, shoulder, or back, in a futile attempt to comfort her. Vlk hated touch. These so-called partners didn’t even know that simple fact?
Vlk nodded slightly and Mary smiled at her. “Tell you what. I’ll give you a few more days to decide. Meet me at that coffee place on the corner. And keep your little pack home.” She waved her fingers in disgust and disinterest before turning around and struggling back to the elevator.
The group watched her leave and Vlk slouched uselessly against Sage, tail wrapped around herself as a means of comfort. “They can’t make me choose. I love all of you so much..”
“They literally just tried to force you away!” Velvette yelped, angered.
Rosa held out a hand to quiet the group and turned to Vlk, gently cupping the fox’s face in her hands. “We’ll figure it out together. I promise.”
Vlk nodded quietly and leaned her face against a palm, relaxing slightly at the touch from her partners.

Mary’s return part 1
Sage belongs to @theacedragon0w0
It was like every other day to start with, Vlk running the studio and shooting films when needed (though she preferred to keep that to the producer) but it quickly changed. Right around dinner when things were closing up and she was getting ready to head upstairs the door burst open. She whirled around with a snarl, expecting a threat or raid but instead she saw a familiar— if slightly altered— face. Her heart leapt and breath caught. It couldn’t be…
“Mary?” She breathed.
“In the flesh!” The demon sauntered up to a frozen Vlk and looked her over. “You look different.” They stared at eachother for a moment before Mary whispered, “Stars I’ve missed you. Can I-?” But they were stopped mid sentence as Vlk tackled them into a hug and pressed their lips together.
Vlk was spun around with a happy laugh, tears streaming down her face. When she was set down she immediately kissed her old partner again and again before nuzzling her face in their neck.
“I thought you couldn’t die! I thought I’d never see you again!” She sobbed.
Mary rubbed her head affectionately, “Yeah well everyone has an Achilles heel and hospitals weren’t keen on treating me.”
“I missed you, Mary. I was a wreck when I first got here and I didn’t have you with me— and Lilith I was so worried about her all the time. How is she?”
“She’s doing good. She’s got a daughter now, sweetest little thing. She’s named after you, Vickey Laila Smith. She would have taken our last name but worried for her daughter's future with the name of a known killer.”
Vlk’s eyes watered at the fact Lilith loved her enough to name her daughter after her. It was incredible. She missed her little girl. She was probably all grown up now.
“So I heard you’re a powerful demon here?”
“Y-yeah.” Vlk rubbed tears off her face, unable to stop smiling. “I took over when another demon crossed too many lines.”
“And I’d never thought you’d do porn.”
“Well desperate times…”
“And you have a new partner?” Mary’s voice was dripping now, much less happy and friendly.
“Yes. A few.”
“You told me you weren’t into polyamory.” Mary snarled, backing Vlk against a wall.
“I wasn’t.” The fox snarled back. “But I found some people that loved me and I made an exception. Don’t tell me you never moved on. I know you found someone.”
“I found someone to take my mind off of you but she wasn’t a replacement. She never could be! I love you with everything I am! And you just? Turn on me?!”
“I didn’t turn on you! I was lonely and they were there for me and I thought you’d never join me down here so I moved on.”
Mary sighed and backed up, face soft again. “They really make you happy?”
“Very…”
“Okay… I approve then. Can I meet them?”
Vlk lit up. “Of course!” She grabbed her partners hand and eagerly led her to the exit, calling over her shoulder that the work day was over. She led Mary upstairs and into the room where her lovers sat.
All eyes turned to Vlk and the stranger she was leading into the room.
“Who’s this?” Sage asked politely.
“This is Mary!” Vlk grinned. The room went silent.

Velcro date aka Velvette and Vlk. This is part one cause I might do a part two but just don’t count on it, I’m not used to playing canon characters.
Despite being wary about the date and frankly not wanting to go, Vlk was dressed in one of her nicer outfits. She didn’t want to be overdressed because it was just a light show but knowing her date she had to be at least nice looking. She approached Velvette’s room and knocked gently on the door.
This was the first date in awhile she was nervous about. She had been putting effort into befriending the overlord but she still felt herself pulling away, keeping her walls up. For the sake of the polycule— for the sake of Hazel— she had to get in with velvette and so she’d put her best foot forward, this date would fix everything, and she’d be happy to be with Velvette.
The door opened and as always the overlord was looking magnificent and catty. Her make up was on point and it kind of made Vlk feel bad for only using eyeshadow.
“You look great.” Vlk said after a moment of Velvette just looking at her.
“So do you. That shade brings out your eyes.”
Vlk nodded and extended a bent arm in which Velvette intertwined hers.
The walk to the show was fairly quiet, but it was comfortable. They exchanged the typical conversations of ‘how was your day’ and ‘are you excited?’ But not much else.
When they got there Velvette was quick to point out someone with frilly sleeves, “What are they wearing?” She sneered.
Vlk didn’t have a good fashion sense but even she agreed that the bright yellow monstrosity was not something anyone should be wearing. She nodded and pointed out an imp, “Maybe they could pull it off.”
“Psh. No one could pull that off.” Velvette scoffed.
Vlk put a paw to her chest as if offended and said, “Well, I own that very shirt and I think I rock it!”
Velvette gave her a sneer and said, “Even your cute self can’t rock that.”
“Oh I’m cute am I?” She could flirt. Flirting was easy, fun. Better than deep meaningful conversations. “Cause I think I’m mid when compared to someone like you.”
“While I am adorable, I think you match in cuteness.”
“Why thank you.” Vlk purred, leading Velvette to an area where they could see the best. Sinners pretty much let them, given the fact Velvette was an overlord and Vlk was practically one. Few people had the audacity to fight them and the ones that did try for a quick assassination met the business end of Vlk’s gun or dagger.
The couple settled down and waited for the show to begin.
“So…” Velvette asked softly, “Why do you avoid me?”
Vlk startled and looked down at her with wide eyes before turning away sharply. “I don’t mean to. You’re just always taking photos and I hate photos.”
“You could have told me. I would have kept you out of them, you know?”
“I guess but I didn’t wanna spoil your fun. You like the photos, I don’t. So I just stay away. Not to mention all your slang. I don’t understand it. It makes me feel old.”
“What slang don’t you understand? I’ll just teach you!”
Vlk narrowed her eyes but velvette seemed dead serious so she sheepishly said, “All of it.”
“Really?!” The overlord laughed. “Okay well next time I use slang or something just let me know and I’ll translate it.”
“Okay. Sounds like a deal.”
“And I know you don’t like photos but can I take just one? This is our first date together and I’d like to commemorate it.”
Vlk fiddled with her thumbs anxiously but nodded, leaning in and wrapping an arm around her date. She put on a smile despite hating the camera and Velvette grinned back through the phone. The picture was snapped and immediately Vlk earned a thank you kiss on the cheek.
She blushed harshly and turned away, covering her mouth which just made her date giggle.
Luckily the show was starting, a good distraction and an easy way for Vlk to stop being flustered.

Date night between Rosa (who belongs to @mirconreadzztuff22 ) and Vlk
Tw for the very end, mention of rape. One line, not brought up again.
Also because it’s Rosa and Vlk it’s a little saucy but nothing actually happens
“I have this place, top notch, dinner and a show.” Rosalina was saying, leaning back against the wall while Vlk poked around the closet for something nice to wear.
The fox paused for a moment and turned around, paw on the black dress Sage had bought her. “You really wanna be seen at a high end place with someone like me?” She sneered.
“I don’t see why I wouldn’t.”
“I’m a sinner. You’re practically god. I’m no one special. Obviously.” She turned back to the closest and added flippantly, “Not to mention I can’t afford that right now. You know I’m in between jobs.”
“First off.” Rosa scolding, crouching down and turning Vlk to face her, “Don’t talk about yourself like that. You are very special. Second off, what makes you think I’d allow you to pay?”
Vlk blushed a little and shooed the myths hands off her shoulders, “Well I pay for every date.. or at least split the check?” At least she had in life.
“Well not with me.” Rose booped the fox’s nose and stood back up, “So I think we should go there. If I’m paying I should pick right?”
“I suppose so. I’ll put on my best manners.”
“Oh trust me dear, manners aren’t particularly necessary. Do wear something nice though, I’ll call ahead and let them know we’re coming.”
Vlk nodded and pulled two outfits out of her closest. She kept nicer clothes and a few sets of pajamas here. The nicer clothes were in case of spontaneous dates and it kept the people at the hotel from knowing when she was going out for a date. She didn’t like them to know because they got a little aggressive about it— especially the ones that included Velvette. Despite the fact she liked her flame and spot patterned outfit better she felt the black dress was best suited for a high end restaurant so she put her clubbing outfit away for now and slipped into the dress, tying the straps into a nice bow and fixing her fur. She put on a little bit of lipstick and eyeshadow but that was about it, never really one for make-up.
When they got to the restaurant Vlk was genuinely shocked to see someone literally going down on their partner. She kind of froze but was ushered along by a gentle hand. They sat down at a table near the stage but off the side where it was a little more private.
“This place is uh…” Vlk looked around at all the horny couples and thruples and gulped. Maybe her clubbing outfit would’ve fit better. It was more showy and didn’t make her feel as out of place.
“Don’t mind them.” Rosa smiled. “Unless you’re interested in getting off in public.”
“Well…” her blush deepened and Rosa leaned down slightly, “Um… f-ck. I- f—k. Well— sh*t.” Raising a hand to signal for space she took a few deep breaths. “It’s something I need to prepare for in advance but seeing as there are no kids around I wouldn’t mind too terribly.”
“Yeah?” Rosalina purred, chin resting on her hands, “Well next time we come here be prepared.” She absolutely loved to fluster her little girlfriend and it was so painfully easy. The others couldn’t fluster her as quickly but Rosa could and she absolutely relished in it. “I’ll let you off easy today, however.” She blew a kiss and earned a little squeak and a red-faced nod.
Vlk was about to die from sheer embarrassment and (honestly) horniness which she did NOT need right now. This was supposed to be a sweet date night between just the two of them and she couldn’t ruin it by being distracted the whole time.
“Hello.” A deep husky voice that did not help her mood, “What can I get for you?” The topless imp in a bow tie paused and looked over Vlk carefully before turning to Rosa. “Haven’t seen this piece of candy before.”
“She’s new. Isn’t she cute?”
“Sure is~” the imp winked at her and Vlk turned away quickly.
“Water is fine with me.” She said.
“Sparkling or flat?”
“Flat.”
“Sparkling for me.” Rosa smiled and the imp nodded, walking off. “Come on now dear. Are you really that flustered?”
“A little!” Her voice was higher than she wanted it to be. “I just didn’t expect this, that’s all. Give me some time to adjust.”
“Neither did I, honestly, this place has become a little more…” she looked at the patrons and grimaced slightly, “raunchy since I last checked in. But that’s fine. I am the myth of lust and if lust is what the people want then who am I to stop them? We can still have a nice dinner can’t we?”
“Of course.” Vlk nodded and reached across the table to hold her girlfriend's hand. “I really was just caught off guard. I’m settling in now. Let’s have the nice dinner we wanted.” She smiled and Rosa smiled back gently, grabbing her face and kissing the top of her head.
The sound of Vlk’s tail hitting the chair rapidly made Rosa’s heart flutter. She always loved when her girls wagged their tails. Especially when it was out of their control.
“You’re cute. You know that right?” She asked, head tilting to look down at the sinner.
“And you’re hot as hell. Your point?”
“My point is we should spend time like this together more often. You know… alone.”
“Alone?” Vlk asked, breathless. “Yeah, I’d like that. We don’t spend much time alone together and when we do it isn’t this docile. This is nice. Little dates… next time I’ll pay. It probably will be at some diner or a movie theater but I want to spoil you like you guys spoil me. I don’t have much now but one day I will. And when that day comes you better know you’re getting spoiled!”
“I can’t wait.” Rosa squeezed Vlk’s hand fondly.
Dinner was going smoothly. Vlk had originally planned to eat something light and cheap, light because she had already eaten today and eating again would be pushing it, and cheap because she didn’t like the fact that Rosa was paying and she wouldn’t abuse that. However a still sizzling steak passed by and Rosa caught her date starting at it while drooling and the next thing Vlk knew there was a giant steak infront of her. She licked her lips as her stomach growled.
“You didn’t have to.” She told Rosa.
“Please. You looked at that steak earlier like you needed it. And I will always provide for my partners.” She smiled gently and the fox nodded, cutting into it and taking a bite.
A little moan of bliss escaped her as she savored the flavors and juice. This was delicious!! No wonder Rosa said top notch! She took another few bites, stuffing her mouth happily, before she offered one to her girlfriend. “It’s good! Wanna try?”
“I’ve had it before but sure.” She took the too-small fork and ate the big piece Vlk had cut off of her. It really was delicious. Handing the fork back she nodded, “That’s good. Glad you got it now?”
“Yes. Thank you.” Vlk smiled and ate away while Rosa picked at her meal.
They finished at about the same time and ordered a lava cake to split.
After dinner Vlk was brought back to the tower to change into her casual clothes and Rosalina took her back to the hotel.
“You sure you don’t wanna stay the night?” The myth asked with a dramatic pouty face.
“I’m sure.” Vlk smiled back. “Maybe next time, okay? I really do want to… but I’m expected home at a reasonable time and I want something longer. Quickies are fun but..” she shrugged and Rosa nodded.
“I understand. Well you make sure to let them know they’re real c*ckblockers.” She kissed Vlk’s head as the fox laughed. “Goodnight, love, stay safe.”
“Of course. You as well. And I promise next time I’ll have more wiggle room in time.” She kissed the myths knuckles delicately before waving and going into the hotel. Sure she would have preferred a passionate night but saying no let her see where Rosa really laid. If she was just using Vlk as a living toy or if she actually loved her. And given the reaction it seemed she was leaning more towards love. But Vlk would wait until she said no more consistently and see if that changed how she was treated. Mary was always furious when Vlk said no and often forced the act anyways. She didn’t know what she’d do if Rosa decided she was done catering to her wants. With a sigh she slipped over to the bar and Husk slid her a whiskey.
“Rough night?”
“Just the opposite.” Vlk said. “Worries me though.”
“You have something nice. Try not to ruin it. You’re self destructive but let’s try to keep it contained.”
“Yes sir.” She rolled her eyes and drank her beverage slowly. “I’m gonna go ahead and head to my room. Can I take this with me?” She held up her glass and the bartender nodded so she left.
Setting it gently on her nightstand she took a breath and gently placed the picture of her living family face down in a drawer.

Hazel and Vlk’s interaction since I don’t think I’ve done it before. We mentioned this awhile back but I finally got around to writing it.
Hazel Belongs to @puffymucher
Hazel was the first to notice the extent to which Vlk’s fur was messed up. The tangles, split ends, and dry fur really bothered her. She had approached Vlk about it a few days ago but the fox had shrugged her off, running her hand through her neck fur (which was only not tangled because of how often Vlk touched it) and used that as a good enough example to show her fur wasn’t tangled.
So the hellhound had let it go for a week but when she noticed Vlk drag her hand through her fur and it get caught she just couldn’t let it go any longer.
“Vlk.” She said gruffly, grabbing the fox’s wrist and gently detangling her hand from the fur. “It’s time I thought ya how to take care of yerself.”
“I take care of myself fine,” Vlk bristled, yanking away and baring her fangs.
“Clearly ya can’t.” Hazel huffed, crossing her arms.
Vlk glared at her, fur bristling. “I don’t. Need. Your. Help.” With that she stormed off, leaving Hazel to stare after her.
The next day Hazel walked into the bathroom after hearing a series of sobs and snarls coming from inside. She stood quietly for a moment, watching Vlk struggle with a brush that was caught in her tail fur, cursing and screaming at the thing for having the audacity to get stuck.
“Vlk.” Hazel said gently, coming forward.
The sinner turned around, tail pulling away and the brush going with it. “What do you want?!” Vlk snapped, wiping her eyes off. “Can’t you see I’m in the middle of something?!”
“Yer in the middle of ripping yer fur out. Here. Let me help.” She reached forward to untangle the brush but Vlk stepped back, snarling, until she eventually fell into the bathtub with a thud and another curse.
Hazel rushed to her aid and checked her over, helping her back up and checking her head for any tender spots since she had hit it pretty hard. “Fightin won’t do no good. Yer just hurtin yerself. Lemme help.”
Vlk, defeated and frustrated, just glared at hazel, though this time she made no move when the hellhound went for her tail. After about five minutes the brush was freed with little to no damage done.
“Listen, Miss, I know how to deal with unruly fur, mine was like this a long time. It’s better ta keep it clean an groomed than ta let it get like this though. Let me help you get it in a good state and then we can work on keeping it like that, Kay?”
“Fine.”
Hazel beamed and turned around, setting Vlk’s brush on the counter and rifling through the cabinets. She pulled out another brush and held it to Vlk with pride. “Yers is good fer short fur but the fur on yer tail will do better with one like this. See the difference?” She held them both out and Vlk looked at the bristles, the difference in pattern, material, and length. She nodded so Hazel went on, “Here’s the plan! We’re gonna get you good an brushed then yer gonna take a shower and condition yer fur— you do wash your fur right?”
“Some of it.”
“Right. Well you’re gonna shower and use my conditioner and shampoo and get nice and cleaned then we’re gonna dry you off and give you a full brush down. How’s that sound?”
“Better idea, I brush myself down after the shower and you have no part in that. Unless you want to see me naked.”
Hazel blushed a little, having not thought of that. “Er… well.. I thought you’d be wearin somethin but alright. You brush yourself down after the shower. This brush through should help enough that you won’t have too much trouble. Come on.” Hazel gestured for Vlk to follow and they made their way to a bedroom, the hound getting Vlk to sit on the bed while she pulled up a chair and sat beside it, having Vlk hang her tail over the edge.
The process was slow and long, Hazel taking extra care not to tug or pull on Vlk’s fur and not to hurt the fox.
“It’s okay to pull harder if you need…” Vlk whispered, playing with her thumbs as Hazel brushed out her tail fur. She was extremely anxious about the brush and the touches and, more importantly, that she had to face away from the big dog but she was trying very hard to be docile. She knew Hazel was pretty much a gentle giant and she shouldn’t worry. “It doesn’t hurt so don’t worry.”
“Yer sure?” Hazel asked, grimacing as a knot caught and tugged harder then she meant it to.
“I’m sure.” Vlk turned slightly to flash Hazel a smile before looking back down at her hands.
“I noticed you got a high pain tolerance.” Hazel muttered after a few minutes of silence.
A small laugh followed by, “I guess you could say that.”
They lapsed into silence again and this time it lasted much longer. Vlk could feel the tangles being worked out and after a few hours the brush easily slid through her fur.
“Turn around.” Hazel said, startling Vlk who was half asleep into alertness.
She did as commanded and Hazel stood up, going to brush the fur on her head. Vlk tensed slightly but let Hazel brush out the longer fur until it too was easy to comb through.
“There. Yer all done. Go take that shower, I’ll give ya my stuff an remember, you gotta be real gentle when you brush. Tuggin and fightin won’t do you no good. Alright?”
“Yes ma’am.” Vlk said.

Orion makes an appearance! Yay! Also Pip belongs to my wonderful wife, @tamberwoof
If there was one thing Orion and Vlk could agree on it was that Pip was an angel and deserved all the love. Even if they hated each others guts they could play nice for however long they had the little pup for. Usually they didn’t overlap babysitting hours but occasionally Pip just happened to be in the same room with both of them.
“Pippin!” Orion grinned, picking them up and throwing them in the air, a gesture that made Vlk extremely anxious. But, as always, Orion caught the pup and gently lowered them to the ground.
Pip laughed joyously before turning to Vlk who immediately crouched down and opened her arms. In the next moment Pip was nuzzled against her, squeezing her tight with their tail thrashing behind them.
“How are you?” Vlk asked happily, if there was anything that could cheer her up it was a child.
“Good!” Pip pulled away and ran back to Orion, holding up her arms until she was lifted into the air and held gently. “Can we go out today?”
“Sure!” Orion smiled as Vlk muttered, “I don’t know it’s a little chilly.” They glanced at each other with the slightest bit of annoyance but Pip was focused on Orion.
“Ya!!! I wanna go to the park! Can we? Can we? Can we?” They bounced in the bigger hounds arms, hands beating against his chest.
“Sure!” “But you have to put on a jacket.”
“Yes ma’am!” Pip grinned back, tail still wagging.
Vlk smiled gently and went to fetch the pups jacket, returning and helping them get it on (which was difficult because Orion was purposely holding Pip out of the fox’s reach.) With that handled Vlk put on a much heavier jacket for herself, she got cold easily and as such needed more than just her usual hoodie, and they headed out.
When they reached the park Pip took off towards the slides, laughing and interacting with other pups and imps on the playground. It wasn’t long before they had a whole group together and were playing the most exciting game of tag in their lives.
Vlk watched from a bench near the other parents, nervous about all the things the kids could run into or trip over but Orion didn’t seem nearly as tense. He was laid back with an arm on the bench back, watching Pip play with a grin on his face. Of course the inevitable happened and one kid tagged a little too hard, pushing Pip over. The pup fell and before they could even get out a single wail Vlk was at their side and cradling them in her arms. Orion hovered over her.
“Are you okay?!” Vlk yipped anxiously, hugging tightly.
Pip whimpered and whined, “My leg..”
So Vlk pulled away and looked at the scraped knee.
“Ah that’s nothing!” Orion said, crouching down. “A little battle wound like that won’t stop ya, will it?”
“No.” The pup sniffled, wiping at their eyes while Vlk bandaged the leg.
“Of course it won’t! A strong hellhound like you can’t be stopped by anything, right?”
“Right.”
“Then let’s get up and show those other kids just how strong you are!”
Pip jumped to their paws, nearly knocking their head against Vlk’s chin.
“Hey I wasn’t—“ she started, watching Pip run off before she could finish wrapping the wound. Of course the bandages came undone.
Orion huffed and looked after the pup. “Brave little thing.” He said before looking down at Vlk, “Stop coddling him. If you do that he’ll always cry about every little cut or scrape. Let him learn to brush it off.”
“It could get infected! Especially in a disgusting place like this. You could have at least let me finish.”
“Not my fault Pippin got excited and ran off. Obviously she didn’t need the bandages if she ran off so quickly.”
Vlk snarled at him but collected the dirty bandages and threw them away, returning to her bench to watch her niece play.
By the time they got back to the tower, Pip was dead asleep in Vlk’s arm. She passed them gently off to Orion who waved goodbye and headed home to meet up with Sydney and return her child.

Warning: child death, murder
“Ya know..” Vlk muttered, sitting on the couch with Hazel, Rosa, Sage, and Velvette. She was looking up at the ceiling, twiddling her thumbs anxiously. It had been a good few days since Sage admitted to killing a child. She had been debating whether to share this or not but feeling it might help she sighed and looked at her hands, pulling them apart slightly. “I uh.. I got a kid killed when I was alive.”
Sage tensed, pupils constricting and breath hiking. They didn’t say anything though. The rest of the polycule turned to Vlk so she took a breath and continued.
“I was young, Stupid.. I was new to everything related to my job. I did research for a client, decided their hit fit into my rules. I agreed to take on the job and… well I was wrong. I had just slit the mothers throat..” her eyes watered and voice caught, all eyes were on her now. Her hands clasped eachother at the terrible memory, “A-and I heard this noise. I told my partner to finish up with the dad and I went to investigate. I found a little boy, no more then four years old. He had woken up from the noise his parents made as we killed them— my partner was being sloppy— loud— he had come out of his room and he saw me— he saw my face. I froze. He asked what game I was playing, I said cowboy. He asked for his mother. That’s when my partner saw me and the kid. They told me to kill him— said there can’t be any witnesses. I told em no but they took my gun and shot him. Right in the head. He was dead. I should have known they had a kid— I should’ve seen the signs! But I didn’t. I did so many things wrong and because of me he got killed.”
Silence weighed around her as she cried, thumb digging into her wrist and pressing against the artery. “I didn’t mean for it to happen but I should’ve been more careful— I should have *known*-“ a hand rested gently on her shoulder and she immediately flinched away but the hand just tightened. Hazel looked down at her.
“Yer sorry though?”
“Yes. God, if I could take it all back I would, even if it meant me dying.”
“And you didn’t mean for it to happen.” Rosalinda chimed softly, rubbing Vlk’s head reassuringly as she sometimes did.
“No- o-of course not!”
“And it was your partner anyways.” Velvette added, hand on Sage’s leg.
Sage nodded, “You didn’t pull the trigger.”
Vlk wanted to spit that she may not have pulled the trigger but she set the plan in motion. It was her fault— she had a child’s blood on her hands— but she didn’t. She clenched her fangs and nodded.
“Then it’s okay. I know you’d never intend to hurt anyone. Much less a kid. I’ve seen you with Pip.”
Vlk flinched at that and she looked Sage in the eye. “I was a hit man. I hurt people all the time. And I enjoyed almost every second of it.”
(If you want the story Vlk is reciting, lmk)
Warning: Abuse, also Valentino
Vlk hissed as she was slammed against the wall. It didn’t hurt but it just about knocked the breath out of her and something cracked in her back. In the next second she was being pinned and lifted by her neck. Not the first time it had happened but this time she was scared. She had people to love now, people that cared about her. She held his hand tightly and tried to pull it off of her but for being so skinny Valentino was very strong. He spat something at her and choked her further, she couldn’t even hear what he was saying with her ears ringing the way they were.
Her vision was swarming. Hopefully she’d just pass out and she could wake up and return home. As she was about to pass out she was released and collapsed on the ground, hand hovering over her throat as she heaved for air and coughed. Through teary eyes she looked up.
“Cross me again.” Val said with a squeak. “And yours won’t be the only life I take.” With that he left the room and slammed the door behind her, leaving her alone in the dark with only a faint few lights from her vanity.
Once she caught her breath she worked her way to her paws and approached one of the mirrors she had covered. Hesitantly she pulled off the sheet and looked at herself. Her eye was swollen and arm sat at a strange angle. She could feel blood soaking her fur on the back of her head and hoped the wound wouldn’t be noticeable once she patched it up. Her arm was dislocated, luckily, she had worried it had broken when he yanked her back the way he had. Dislocations were much easier than breaks. Her eye would, unfortunately, be hard to hide but maybe if she wore sunglasses? No, that was too obvious. She’d just have to make up a lie. She didn’t want anyone raging and putting themselves in danger just because she was in a bad mood and picked a fight she wasn’t prepared to win. She knew, if push came to shove, she could kill Valentino but… with her feelings for him she couldn’t really bring herself to raise a hand to him.
Vlk set her arm and cleaned her head wound and left the studio in a rush, the dang thing wouldn’t stop bleeding and she needed someone to close it. None of the guards could know though and neither could Angel. Slipping into the hotel she was grateful to find Husk alone.
“I need help.”
“Why’d you come to me then?” He sneered.
“Shut up. I got hurt and it won’t stop bleeding. I know you know how to close wounds. I have a suturing kit in my room. Come on.”
Husk didn’t move so Vlk ran her hand over the back of her hand and slammed it down on the counter, leaving a bloody handprint. “Come. On.” She hissed through gritted teeth. “I need to be back at the tower *soon*.”
“I’ll help but you gotta clean this up after.” He grumbled, coming out from behind the desk and following the patron to her room where she rifled through her bathroom cabinet and pulled out a first aid kit. She set it on the counter and sat on the toilet, turning to face the wall. Carefully husk split her fur and dried the blood until he could see the wound.
With a sharp intake of air he said, “It’s big. No wonder it won’t stop bleeding.”
“Head wounds always look worse than they are. Can you fix it?”
He didn’t respond but she felt the needle slip through her skin.
“So. Valentino?”
“No. I got into a fight I couldn’t win with a hellhound guarding the studio.”
Husker hummed though he didn’t believe the story for a second. Vlk was tiny but she could hold her own against much larger opponents. He had seen it once before when the hotel was attacked. She must’ve either really gotten in it or have let this happen. Not to mention the distinct lack of bite marks on her meant it probably wasn’t a hellhound she fought. But he didn’t say anything. It wasn’t his place to. “You’re done.”
“Thanks. Don’t tell anyone this happened. Please. I-I gotta go.”
“My bar!”
Vlk nodded before she rushed out of the room. She didn’t have long before her partners started to worry about where she was, if they weren’t already.
She scrubbed the bar quickly and threw the bloodied rag in the sink before racing back to the tower.
She felt where the stitches were and frowned to herself. There was a bald patch. They’d be just as noticeable as the eye! That made her want to cry. She tried so hard to hide the abuse— she usually could. Bruises hid easily under fur. Cuts and scrapes did too. Dislocations could be fixed with a wall or a kind worker at the studio. But these injuries were much harder to hide. The other would know and they’d put themselves at risk over something stupid like Vlk getting hurt because she was too emotional to fight her boss.
“Vlk!” Sage yelped. The girl hadn’t even realized she was up to the room yet. Her face was grabbed ever so gently and turned this way and that as Sage examined her eye.
“Stop.” Vlk huffed, pushing her away. “I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine!” Sage snarled but was gently nudged back by Rosalina.
“I am fine.” Vlk spat back, bristling. “I just got into a fight leaving work. It’s no big deal.” She brushed past them, trying to ignore the look Rosa gave her.
Then she heard a gasp and remembered very suddenly she had stitches.
“That b——-d!” Sage cried. “I’m gonna f—king kill him!”
“Don’t you f—kin touch him!” Vlk hissed, whirling around. “I don’t need you meddling in my business.”
“He’s hurt you for the last time!” Sage yelled back, adjusting their mechanic arm.
“I said no!”
“He deserves it!”
“I don’t care! I let him do it, if I wanted to I could stop it but I don’t.”
“Why not?!”
“Guys.” Rosalina said gently, a firm hand on each party's shoulder. “Let’s calm down. Talk about this.”
“I’m tired of trying to talk to her about this! She just lets him bully her! It’s time to take action.” Sage jerked away from their partner, “Look at her! How much more serious of an injury do you need?”
“She’s not ready yet.” Rosa argued. “She’ll leave when she is.” She turned to Vlk and added gently, “But Sage is right. This is a bad injury. I think it’s time you really consider leaving.”
“I can’t. I need the money.”
“Velvette will get you a job. There’s no need to work for that punk.”
———————————————-
Working for Carmilla was difficult. Getting up early and going to bed late, completely exhausted. But it was nice. The work was leaving him sore so he knew he was getting stronger. He had a steady place to sleep and predictable meal times. So what if he couldn’t move by the time he laid down to go to bed, the pros outweighed that by a lot in his opinion.
Unfortunately his week was over and thus his cozy little life was about to be ruined. It was nice while it lasted, he thought, trying to shove some things he though Carmilla wouldn’t miss in a bag.
There was a sharp knock on his door and he hid the bag behind his back, turning around to see the overlord towering above him.
“What are you doing?” She asked, pointing at the bag.
“Nothin! Just gettin ready to leave.”
“Why?”
He blinked at her in confusion before slowly, as if spelling it out for her, saying, “My week is over.”
“And you’re just going to leave?”
“My week is over.” He repeated.
“Okay. If you want to leave you can. I was going to offer you a job though, and housing and food.”
The bag dropped along with the pup's mouth. “What?”
“A job, same work as you’re doing now and same conditions as we agreed on earlier but now you’ll be paid.”
“Really?!” His tail lashed behind him, “A real job?! Are you sure? And I can keep my room?” He bounced forward and she laughed, petting his head fondly.
“You have to accept it first.”
“Yes! Yes I accept! 100 percent!” He grinned at the pets, something that had never happened to him before.
“If you do well, maybe you can move up in the ranks.”
And move up he did. As he grew older he was much stronger, Carmilla took him under her wing fairly early on and taught him to fight. He was raised alongside her daughters and Sydney, though he was the oldest of the bunch, and he became a big brother to them. He still preferred carmilla’s company though. After years of working his way from warehouse to shipping to manager he got the biggest promotion of his life. He became Carmilla’s personal body guard. He didn’t feel he deserved the role— there was still so many weapons he still had to learn how to use, but he accepted the job and did his best. He became more alert and was by her side almost constantly. She trusted him with her life and he couldn’t ask for more. He would not fail her.
Orion sighed as he padded up to the hazbin hotel on his day off, just as promised. He opened the door and the room went quiet, several eyes peering at him. One set was particularly familiar.
“Vlk?” He barked, “What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing here?!” She snarled back. “This is my turf!”
“Hey, no, no one has claim to this hotel but me.” Charlie said soothingly. “If he wants to visit or stay he can. Now, why don’t you introduce us?” She clapped her hands and bounced on to her tiptoes.
Vlk glowered at her but regardless gestured to the hellhound. “That’s Orion. He works for-“
“Carmilla.” Vaggie answered. “I saw him when I was there awhile back.”
Orion nodded, “Right, the angel. I remember you getting your butt whooped.”
“Hey! I landed a blow or two near the end.”
Orion smirked. “Well I wouldn’t say that but you did earn your wings so that counts for something. Nice to properly meet you…?”
“Vaggie.” She came forward and shook his paw firmly.
“Vaggie.” He repeated. “I liked your spunk.”

3 stories centering around the same two characters. Yes, I am obsessed. Yes I love them. No I will not apologize.
They’re not in any particular order btw.
And finally: Sage belongs to @theacedragon0w0
Fluffy sentence starter
“It’s nice that your voice was the first thing I heard today.”
Sage rarely ever came to the hotel anymore but Vlk was wary of staying the night at their place with their partners and her apartment was currently trashed after… well it was trashed is about all she could give as an explanation and pushing further then that (Sage was confused why it would be trashed when Vlk was such a tidy person) made Vlk shut down and put up her walls, so it had been decided that the hotel was the best bet for now.
They had slipped in after their shift and went straight to Vlk’s room, hand in hand. Almost immediately they were both in their pj’s— er well Sage was also in Vlk’s pj’s but whatever— and in bed, exhausted after the day. Vlk could barely even get out her ‘goodnight’s before she was dead asleep.
The next morning she felt a nudge and smelled something wonderful. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked up at her partner with a tired smile.
“Good morning, darling. I made you some breakfast.” Sage smiled back.
Vlk sat up and rubbed her eyes, muttering happily, “Mornin. It’s nice that your voice was the first thing I heard today.”
Sage blushed a little. Vlk was never one to really say something so sweet, it caught them off guard. Actually Vlk had been catching them off guard a lot lately with sweet gestures, little kisses when possible, compliments, and just generally being more open and loving. It was nice. Really nice.
They handed their partner the plate and sat down on the side of the bed, watching Vlk eat a few bites. After a few minutes of eating in silence she set her plate on the counter and looked up at Sage. “I’m sorry about last night. I know you wanted some time to spend together. I was just… so tired and-“
“It’s okay! No need to apologize, just being able to be next to you was enough.”
Vlk smiled shyly and looked away. “Thanks for breakfast,” She said, trying to change the subject (a common occurrence when Sage was being mushy, they were working on that), “It’s really good. You want the rest?”
“No thanks. You eat it.” They nudged Vlk in the ribs and said sternly but kindly, “You’re still far underweight.”
“Hey, I’ve been trying. I’m just not used to breakfast so I’m not really hungry yet. If you want I’ll save it for later.”
Sage sighed heavily. “It’s fine. Just make sure to eat lunch and dinner, understood?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” They leaned forward to kiss Vlk but she pulled away.
“Sorry. Ah let me brush my teeth first. I have dog breath.” The fox said, trying to get out of bed.
“I don’t mind. But if you’re not comfortable right now that’s perfectly fine.”
Vlk paused and took a breath before cupping Sage’s cheek and kissing her gently. She pulled away after a second of lingering and smiled, eyes lidded, “Still fine with my dog breath?”
“Yes.” Sage breathed. “That was perfect.”
Kiss
Fights were few and far between for Sage and Vlk. And aside from their first, the fights never really escalated very far. Regardless, like all couples, they had their moments.
This one was one they had often.
“You’re not taking care of yourself.”
“I’ve been busy. You know that. I don’t have a lot of time for ‘self care’.”
“Maybe if you stopped working extra hours—“
“I need the money.”
“You don’t. Your apartment is paid for. And so is the hotel and your food. What are you spending all your money on?”
“Drugs.” Vlk blurted, looking astray. “Drugs.” She didn’t want to admit to a gambling problem. Or the fact any money not lost to gambling was being saved up for a gift for Sage.
“Drugs?” Sage said incredulously. “I’ve seen you do drugs once and you hated it.”
“Then alcohol.”
“You don’t drink that much either. I know because I’ve been watching you.”
“Where the money is going does matter!” Vlk snapped, “All that matters is that I need more and thus need to work more hours.”
“I think you do it because you don’t like being alone.”
“What?”
“You don’t like the silence. You don’t like having nothing to do. The studio is loud, Val makes you forget whatever it is you’re trying to forget. I get it. But.. trust me that there are better ways to go about this. You can stay with me more often. We’ll plan more dates, keep you busy. And if it’s nightmares you’re trying to avoid by not sleeping then sleep with me! I’ll help you when you have them.”
Vlk didn’t like being called out in so many ways. Was she really that obvious? Her face scrunched up as Sage rambled on about ways they could get Vlk on a healthy schedule. Very suddenly she grabbed her partner's face and kissed her deeply.
Sage made a noise but leaned into it pretty immediately, holding Vlk’s wrist in one hand and the foxes cheek with the other. When they pulled away both were breathless and blushing.
“Shut up.” Vlk muttered. “I’ll work on taking care of myself better. But I’m keeping my extra hours three days a week, got it?”
Sage nodded mutely and Vlk turned around. “Then goodnight. I love you.” She waved over her shoulder and heard a muttered, “Love you, good night.” Apparently aggressive kisses really were the way to end arguments. Noted.
First Fight
(This is before they were a thing. They are just friends at this point in time)
“You shouldn’t be working for him!” Sage spat, fear and hatred for a certain moth demon fueling them. “After all he’s done for you— after how he’s manipulated you—“ they choked and hissed out, “Please, just come work for Velvette. She’ll treat you right, I’ll make sure of it.”
It was their first fight: Vlk had just confessed to some scary feelings for Valentino and Sage couldn’t take it.
“I’m not gonna work for her.” Vlk returned coldly, more than used to arguments and knowing the second she raised her voice the weapons would come out and someone would get hurt. Despite how Sage was acting Vlk didn’t want them to get hurt. “I don’t want to get in her way. Not to mention she’s kind of a pompous brat and she's always on about pentsagram like I have a clue what that is. She makes me feel dumb. At least Val doesn’t make me feel like an idiot everytime I’m around him. In fact he boosts my ego if anything.”
“That’s my girlfriend you’re talking about, one, and two, he’s love bombing you. He’s just trying to get you to sell your soul to him. He’s abusive and you know it. Velvette wouldn’t lay a hand on you or make you get her off.”
Vlk had doubts about that, honestly, but she didn’t say anything. “He doesn’t make me do anything. I want to.”
Sage froze, their fist clenching and eyes wide. They looked over Vlk’s face, desperate for signs of a lie but all they saw was the cold hard truth. “He’s using you.” They whispered weakly.
“You think I don’t know that?” Vlk laughed meanly. “But I’m using him just as much. He makes me happy and brings back memories of the life I was torn from. So what if I get slapped around occasionally? I’m used to that. I’m used to the whole song and dance me and him have going on and it makes me feel alive— in a way nothing else in hell has!”
“You shouldn’t be used to that.” Sage cried, “If you were in a relationship like that in life I’m so sorry but you shouldn’t have to go through that again. You should be in a loving relationship where you can be happy and not have to worry about the next time your partner will snap.”
“I don’t worry.” She snorted in return, “I worried when I was alive but I’m dead now, what’s the worst that could happen? I die again?” With a huff Vlk added, “And stop trying to meddle in my business. I only told you what I was feeling because you’ve been pressing for weeks. So what if I was in a ‘bad’ relationship before. I was loved. And I’m loved now.” She was starting to lose her cool and her voice was rising. She was just waiting for Sage to pull a gun or knife and tell her to shut up and listen. She was fingering her own dagger already, which was hiding in her pocket, just waiting to have to defend herself.
“No, you’re not! Why don’t you listen?!” Wailed Sage. The tears startled Vlk and she held her dagger tightly, still not drawing it but tensing and at the ready. “I’m trying to help you.”
“I don’t need your help!” Vlk spat.
Sage threw their arms in the air and spun around. There was a knife on the counter behind them. Vlk’s eyes widened and the dagger was drawn. When Sage turned back around with a deep breath they were shocked and a little scared to find Vlk snarling and with a weapon aimed directly at them. They held up their hands placidly and took a step backwards, not wanting to escalate things any further. Vlk’s eyes flashed to their side and they followed the look. A kitchen knife. A glance at Vlk and then the knife and back again. The fox tensed up further. Sage quickly grabbed the knife, and slid it across the floor and far out of arm's reach. Vlk relaxed slightly and her fur flattened, lips pulling down from their snarl and hand lowering her weapon.
“What… why?” Was all Sage could get out.
“I thought you were gonna stab me.” Vlk responded tensely, standing up straight and spinning her dagger between her fingers. “You turned for the knife.”
“I was just turning around to calm myself. I would never hurt you.” A skeptical look met the words so Sage pressed on, “I don’t know what you’ve been through or why you were so quick to assume I’d hurt you like that but I won’t. And… I never will, okay? And I don’t want anyone else to hurt you either. That’s why I don’t want you working for Val. He hurt Angel, he’s hurt you already… you know he’s a bad person— I know you do.”
“He’s… familiar, okay? And I need something familiar here.”
“Well… it doesn’t have to be him. What’s something familiar in life, what would help you acclimate better? Any foods you like? Songs?” Sage came forward and reached to take the knife away from Vlk, not liking that she was still wielding it. Unfortunately, Vlk jerked away and her guard rose once more. Backing up Sage continued, “Okay. I just want to help you find something good here. Something that can help without being a detriment. I know you don’t like being under him all the time. You’ve told me yourself.”
“Nothing you can provide will help.” Vlk said, watching Sage flinch. She softened when she saw the reaction and pinched the bridge of her nose. “I like pizza. Just cheap and greasy pizza. Maybe that’ll help.”
“That’s a start.” Sage smiled. “What else?”
“…Nothing else positive.”
“That’s okay, we’ll make things positive so you can enjoy your time here. And when you’re ready and feel comfortable will you leave him?”
“Maybe. I still need a job. And I refuse to work for Velvette.”
“Okay. I’ll find you a job. We’ll get you out of his clutches and it will be okay eventually, alright? We’ll find ways to make you feel alive that don’t hurt you. Okay?”
“Okay.”
That’s all. Goodbye!

Even MORE Vlk nonsense. If yall are interested in other stuff I have two stories that I started and never finished. I can give yall the pieces in another post, only one is about Vlk.
The more Vlk got to know her new landlord the more she wanted to leave. Not because the princess of hell was anything but kind but rather because she was so kind. She was persistent, saw the best in everyone, wanted to help everyone, wouldn’t hurt a fly, and worst of all, she was so optimistic. If she had social anxiety she would be Lilith’s carbon copy. And that made forgetting her life on earth really difficult. She was already having enough issues with her feelings for Val but now she had to be reminded of the daughter she’d never see again every time she came home. It hurt so bad.
So… she avoided Charlie as much as possible. She wasn’t subtle about it either and the residents were noticing. Angel had asked about it once but didn’t press any further when Vlk snapped it wasn’t his place to know. Husker didn’t really seem to care, neither did niffty. Alastor, the sadist, found joy in Vlk’s repeated neglect of the hotel manager and Charlie’s subsequent sadness.
Of course, she couldn’t be so blunt forever because there was one particular staff member that was not having her attitude. She had been avoiding Vaggie too because of that. Unfortunately you could only run from your problems for so long. And… this was the end of the line for her.
“What’s your problem?!” Vaggie snarled, having trapped Vlk in the kitchen after dinner.
“What are you going on about?” Vlk growled back evenly, slipping on gloves and washing her plate. She wasn’t a fan of wet fur so she avoided it when possible.
“Why do you continuously go out of your way to avoid Charlie? She’s offering you a place to stay, food, and protection all free of charge and you can’t even say ‘hi’ in the morning or ‘thanks’ when she serves you food?”
“Look I get you’re her little guard dog but I’m not appreciating your tone. I don’t have to interact with anyone I don’t want to. She said I only need to do what I’m comfortable with. And right now? I’m not comfortable with her.” She tried to keep her voice even and ears and tail still. Her muzzle kept wanting to curl into a snarl but she didn’t let it.
“Why not? What has she done so wrong to get this kind of reaction out of you?”
“Nothing in particular.”
“Are you just scared of her then? Cause you know she’d never hurt you.”
“I’m not scared of the goody-two-shoes, no.” Her muzzle did twitch this time, offended at the idea.
“Then what?!” Vaggie snapped, throwing her arms to the side and glaring dangerously at Vlk. “And you better tell me so we can get it resolved because you’re not even attending meetings or anything that she’s involved in and those are *mandatory* if you wanna stay here.”
Vlk turned around, setting her plate on the counter to dry, taking off her gloves, and leaning back to study Vaggie for a few moments, all without a word. Eventually she sighed, “Your little princess brings back memories I’m trying to suppress, alright? Makes it hard to want to be in this hotel.”
“What kind of memories?” The angel shifted into a more passive stance, worry written plainly on her face. “Did she… do something to trigger them?”
“Just memories.” Vlk growled tersely, ears flat.
“Well, how can I help fix the problem?” Vaggie ran a hand through her hair and looked away.
“You can’t. But if you're so bent out of shape about it I’ll attend the meetings. Just don’t expect me to become any sort of buddy-buddy with Princess Morningstar.” With that, Vlk shoved past and left the kitchen, almost running face first into the very topic of the conversation who happened to be looking for her girlfriend.
Charlie made a pained face, when Vlk backed away, eyes wide. Biting back a response, she moved past the manager and muttered a quick, “sorry.” Under her breath.
“Wait, Vlk…” Charlie called, stopping the fox in her tracks. Vlk’s ears were back and shoulders hunched as Charlie continued, “Is there anything I can do to help your stay be more… comforting?”
“No.” Vlk said before laughing tensely and adding, “Unless you wanna go beat up some innocent kid or start cursing like a sailor.”
“That sounds f—king awful, b—-ch. What's wrong with you?” It wasn’t said aggressively and Vlk turned to face the princess in awe. She was being mean? Just the act of turning to face her had Charlie grinning an all to familiar grin and Vlk immediately wanted to turn away again but she didn’t.
“That works.” Vlk laughed, genuine this time. “Yeah. Keep that up and maybe I’ll be more comfortable around you.”
Charlie nodded with a smile and Vaggie set a hand on her shoulder, happy that they were starting to build a relationship— as odd of a way as this was.
“Night, princess.” Vlk said, turning away and going to her room.
Very faintly she heard a, “Goodnight, c—t.” and smiled to herself.

A story with the guard squad!! Vlk, Orion, and Athena belong to me. Everyone else belongs to one of these amazing people
@tamberwoof @theacedragon0w0 @mirconreadzztuff22 and y’all please give me the tags of everyone else
It was movie night and the guard squad had just settled down for their movie. It was Athena’s turn to pick so of course they were watching the rom-yist com there was. But suddenly disaster struck, they realized they had no snacks and NO POPCORN. The horror!
Vlk, never one for cheesy movies, piped up and soothed the group's panic and grief with a few simple words, “I’ll go get snacks. You can start the movie without me.”
“You’d do that?” Athena asked, “and we can just wait for you to get back— you don’t have to miss any of the movie.”
“It’s fine. You guys watch and I’ll be back in a giffy with lots of snack for everyone.” She pulled out her phone and went to her notes app to make sure she had everyone’s food preferences written down. She did. “Alright, bye.”
But before she could leave Sage stopped her, “Wait! Take Orion with you.”
“What?” Vlk growled darkly and Orion yelped.
“You’re safer in pairs. Please? It would make me feel better about you going out alone at night.”
“I can handle myself.” Vlk huffed but didn’t fight. “Come on Orion, let’s be quick.”
The hound growled but Athena urged him on and he padded after Vlk stoically.
“You have a car?” Vlk asked as they left the building.
“Nope.”
“Ah. Then unfortunately we’re stuck together for a bit.”
Orion lifted a brow but didn’t really express anything beyond that so Vlk crossed her arms and walked in silence.
Ten minutes later she was dying. She always had to have some kind of noise or else she got stuck in her thoughts and went mad. Finally she couldn’t take it and blurted, “Why don’t you talk?!”
Orion gave her a quizzical look and shrugged, a mischievous smile on his face.
“No- no don’t do that! Why don’t you just— urg— rant to me about your day or something?!” Another shrug and Vlk stopped in front of her companion, forcing him into a halt as well. “Please. I never ask you for anything. Just… tell me something. Talk at me.”
Orion studied her face for a moment and decided she wasn’t desperate enough. “Grovel.” He growled deeply.
“Seriously? This is why I hate you.” She poked her finger into his chest and decided to walk without noise. Another five minutes and her teeth were clenching. Thoughts of her parents were circling her head like vultures. She needed a distraction and it just slipped out, ever so weakly, “Please.”
“What?” His ear perked and he turned his attention on the dejected fox.
“Please.. please talk to me. I really can’t stand the silence.”
“More.”
“What more do you want?!”
“Get on your knees and beg.”
Vlk sneered and then jeered back, “You do like to see me on my knees, don’t you?”
Orion blushed and snarled, “Do it.”
She rolled her eyes but got on her knees and held her hands tightly, “Please, sir. Talk to me.”
“Fine. But you don’t get to talk the rest of the trip.”
Vlk nodded, fine with not having to talk and being able to just listen.
And so the rest of the walk to the store was peaceful, Orion chattering on about his day and ranting about Jasmine, saying a few things about Athena that were interesting to say the least, and just rambling. It was comforting and kept Vlk’s mind off of everything else.
At the convenience store she sent Orion to the movie theater down the street to pick up a few large bags of popcorn, extra butter, and nacho cheese dip (a specialty item for Sage, and no Vlk was not showing favoritism).
Four bags of jerky, one for Vlk, one for Iris, two for Xana. Vlk wasn’t a fan of Iris’s favorite snack but she would buy it if the store had it. Unfortunately, they were outside of cannibal town so pinky’s were harder to score. Vlk couldn’t really understand that liking. She had tried human flesh once and it wasn’t great but something as lean as the pinky seemed just terrible.
Regardless she continued on her search.
Nutter Butter’s and P.B Bites for Hazel.
Sage got hot fries, seasoned mango’s, and some Red hots.
Sydney got chewy chips ahoy.
Athena’s snacks of choice were skittles and airhead belts. She had a major sweet tooth so Vlk also got her a bag of powdered donuts.
Finally was Orion. Vlk got him black licorice.
After everyone’s individual snacks had been collected it was time for drinks. A case of Dr. Pepper (Vlk’s favorite), Root beer, and Fanta added to the list. Unable to hold everything properly the Fox stumbled to the counter and dropped her load onto it, looking over the pile at the clerk. Poor guy looked like he wanted to roll over and die.
Checking out took a long time, by the time she was done Orion was waiting outside with the popcorn. She did not expect the bags to be as large as there were, roughly the size of a toddler, and hadn’t expected Orion to buy 5 if they were that big. But here he was, all five giant bags tied together and slung over his shoulder while he carried a bucket of butter in his other hand.
“Where’s the cheese dip?”
“In one of the popcorn bags.”
She nodded and they left back to the tower. Needless to say, everyone was shocked and pleasantly surprised when they returned with enough food to feed an army.
