hey so Los Angeles is in crisis right now.

Multiple concurrent wildfires are happening, two of which are extremely devastating. The Palisades Fire, which at this time is the deadliest wildfire in LA history, has burned 18 square miles worth of land and destroyed over 1,000 structures. The Eaton Fire has burned over 10,000 acres. And the Santa Ana winds are rapidly escalating the fires to where containment at this time is borderline nonexistent and firefighters are at a loss for what to do. People have died. The air is extremely hard to breathe from smoke. Elderly, disabled and transient populations are at great risk. Even 20 miles south and 30 miles west of the Palisades and Eaton Fires, the smoke is so bad that there are air quality alerts and the moon is red at night. These have been called “catastrophic urban firestorms” and the people affected need your compassion.

so. miss b's antibiotics course has finished. we unfortunately got nowhere near enough to cover a vet visit right now, and had to spend all of what was raised just to keep our cell service on. all of the symptoms she was having have completely stopped, and she seems to be doing a lot better, but obviously i still need to come up with the money to take her to a vet so we can make absolutely sure she is all better. i've set a ko-fi goal for the amount we need, in the hopes that having a visual on how much has been raised will encourage people to contribute. i do still have other expenses besides this, like keeping a roof over our heads, so for the time being this is less urgent, but any support via the usual ways (leave a cat emoji in note) is appreciated.

How intimidated do you think trans women on this site feel to even speak up about their being banned at all anymore after what the CEO did to predstrogen and the ways that staff has continued to allow administrative punishment of random trans women, who rightfully email staff asking why they got murked, who in response get an email typed by an actual human person waving their hand around going, ohh don't you recall? You were weird and sexually strange once. I know you know what you did. You've read our TOS. You know we have rules against being sexually strange. You are so naturally implicated in your own execution that we won't waste our breath even explaining why this happened to you. Don't worry, this wasn't random- this was premeditated by a real human person and we've all reached a rational conclusion together, us here at staff and what could have just been one spiteful person or an army of TERF Pinkertons, and we find your assuming of the latter to be quite disrespectful. Think of all the kind, compassionate people on staff who're wishing really really hard that this kind of stuff stops happening. Stop the Sept. 24 Execution of Marcellus Williams, an Innocent Man

DNA evidence proves Marcellus Williams is innocent.

Marcellus Williams is scheduled to be executed on Sept. 24 for a crime DNA proves he did not commit. The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney reviewed these DNA results and filed a motion to vacate Mr. Williams’ conviction because he believed the DNA results proved by clear and convincing evidence that Mr. Williams did not commit this crime. Although the circuit court has not yet scheduled a hearing to address this motion — and no court has ever considered the new exculpatory evidence — the Missouri Supreme Court set an execution date for Mr. Williams.

heres a lil throwback of me n my wife from when we first started living together 🩷

so, as many ppl know by now, im a mixed Black tme nonbinary person, and my wife (left) is an Afrolatine trans woman. we are both disabled, and my disabilities are so severe that i can no longer work a regular job. my wife, on top of managing her own disabilities, is my full time caretaker, and has also been furiously on the job hunt to try and get us more stable income so we can be less reliant on ebegging to no success. she has a potential job lined up, but until that shakes out and shes able to start getting paid, we need help!

we get less than $150 a month in food stamps, which is not enough to last us the entire month given i have a lot of complex dietary issues and restrictions that make buying food expensive. my wife needs her allergy medication, as she has pretty severe allergies on top of chronic sinusitis, so every day she has to go without is another day she risks another sinus infection she'll have to deal with. we also just recently had a roommate move out who left a large majority of our apartment in a disgusting state, and we need to buy several types of cleaning products so we can start to deep clean my apartment.

all that to say, we have a lot of expenses with no income right now, and to top all that off, i am diabetic and have not eaten a meal in 6 days. that is extremely dangerous, and i would desperately like to avoid an ER or urgent care visit because my sugar crashed too hard bc i cannot afford to eat. folks can help by donating here, here or here, or can support us monthly here. thanks so much for reading, reblogging and kicking me some change if you can.

Arabic doesn't have vowels and there are many letters in Arabic that do not have phonetic equivalents in Arabic, and some phonetic sounds in Arabic might be judged not as important to include in English writing.

Basing your claim that someone is scamming or lying about their identity because they spelled their name as Shahed on one occasion and Shahd on another is actually, genuinely racist. When my friend nabulsi read her ID it was in fact the one and only spelling of the name in Arabic.
