That's where our Cal finds himself in this universe: in the middle of a rescue mission that's a matter of life or death.

Chapter 9: Quiet

Tropes: Hurt/comfort, fluff, Healing

WARNINGS: panic attack, light blood references and mentions of death.

You smile with a slight eye roll before taking another bite. A bit of sauce lands on your cheek, and you don’t notice. Instead, you turn to the side of the counter to click into a datapad, searching for something on there. Cal stares at the bit of sauce, captivated. It’s just a smear of sauce, but something within him aches to just… reach over there and brush your cheek. Is that allowed? Could he just reach over and do that? He wants to; that much is clear. But he’s never felt the impulse to try something like this before, and he isn’t too sure what the protocol is.

I recently taken an interest in Tintin (being French, I surprisingly didn't grow up with those stories) and the similarities would not stop piling up ! A young redhead, throwing himself into danger and always being hit on the head; and his little fearless white companion who is always saving his best friend butt... let's say I immediately took a liking to our boy reporter who is just... Cal if he was Belgian.

I liked the challenge of recreating Hergé's style !

We break.” He steps between you both. “Question is…” he grins, “who should I start with?” “Don’t touch her,” Cal says, louder this time. Panic mixes rawly in his voice, along with a tremor he can’t suppress. He tries to lean closer to you, but the chains yank him back, metal biting into already tender skin. “Don’t hurt her. Let her go and hurt me instead.” Jungo turns his head slowly, savoring the fear in the air like it’s perfume to smell. “Ah,” he drawls. “So that’s what this is. You’re…devoted to her.
