Whenever a hermit is gone for a long period of time, one of two things happen, either a joke funeral is held and they are treating as if they are dead of they left without warning but are very not dead, or if there was warning, the trend where people bake a cookie of someone they miss, except all the hermits do it and make their own. They all take pictures and video to send to the vacationing hermit. If they are unsure as to the safety of a missing hermit, they will break any and all laws to find their friend, including but not limited to the laws of nature. There was once accidental time travel to find a missing hermit.

Well, they did find Wels, so looks like time travel is a perfectly valid solution! No hermit is ever lost for long, unless they want to be.
