YO! I just finished Book 6, I think. It’s the one with a Mavericks story sandwiched into a Flying Dutchman story. I’m not too into the Mavericks stories; I just really like Skippy and Joe. Should I skip the next book (called Mavericks) and go right to number 8?

Helloo, thank you sm for the ask! I feel you haha, Skippy and Joe’s banter is a key part of the books for me. I’ve skipped both Mavericks and their little spin off series (ie. Deathtrap and Freefall) as well, it should be perfectly okay to do so.

I know the next ExForce book in the series, Renegades, goes on juuust a bit about book 6’s events at the beginning & the Mavericks’ shenanigans are occasionally mentioned as minor events, but nothing to get lost on plot-wise I promise. I’m gonna be honest, their series seems to barely affect ExForce’s plot, and when it does, it’s only a minor passing comment / Skippy or Joe kinda briefs the reader about it beforehand. All good!

If you’re worried about it / wanna skim over their plot lines anyway there are plot summaries on the fandom wiki for Deathtrap: Book 1 and Freefall: Book 2 if you scroll down a little ways. Pretty helpful imo :D
