The Living Dead - No More Kings
Oh, NMK. What to say other than I adore their wonderfully talented faces? I've been keeping an eye on these guys since 2009 and they haven't disappointed me yet! Their latest collection of songs are about zombies (no explanation needed), an amazing cover of "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", and karate ("Enter the Dragon").
This band writes about anything and everything - on their past albums, you'll find songs on the Peanuts characters ("About Schroeder"), Gulliver's Travels ("Leaving Lilliput"), the Knight Rider ("Michael (Jumpin)"), video games ("Critical Hit"), just to name a few. You can find more of their stuff here

Grinnin' In Your Face (originally by Son House) - The Vespers
The Vespers are a four piece band out of Nashville, Tennessee, made up of two brothers and two sisters - Callie & Phoebe Cryar and Taylor & Bruno Jones. Their music can be explained as folk. Folky folk folk. Soul-infused folk, basically. If you're interested and want more, you can find the album here.
P.S. The guitar part in this makes me mucho happy.

Let Me Have Tonight- Cait Leary
Going on with this current theme of bands from Minnesota... this lovely lady is from Minneapolis and you can check out her debut album here and follow her tumblr here. She's a self-taught guitarist and her style is...well, think Colbie Caillat or Ingrid Michaelson's style of music. It's breezy and light-hearted and so. freaking. good.

Just Like That - Narrow Vines
The Narrow Vines are another band from Minnesota (Dude, I know what I'm doing when I go home for Minnesota this Christmas! Seeing all these freaking awesome bands.) This five piece band came into being when keyboardist Chris Kline and drummer Clayton Miles started co-writing songs together.
They saw great potential in their songwriting skills and wanted to take it to the next level, so they brought in the beautiful Elyse Barnard on vocals, Wesley Berger on bass/vocals, and Zach Brose on guitars. These five wonderfully talented human beings have their debut album coming out in October, so keep an eye out for it, yes?

Bravo! - West of Aldine
Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, here comes West of Aldine in all it's groovy glory. These men were originally an acoustic trio but are now a quartet of freaking fantastic synth pop. Some find their genre hard to define, but I say think...the band Minus the Bear and you'll be on the right track. And want to know something super awesomely sweet? If you're enjoying what you hear, you can get this song and several others for free via their Facebook page! YAY FREE STUFF! YAY SYNTH POP!

To me, there's a lot of good music that comes out of Texas. The Canvas Waiting and Courrier, who I have posted about before, made me believers of that. This week, Austin dwellers O Conqueror have been added to that list. Founded just last year, Justin Green, Tito Sopena (dude, that's such an awesomely sweet sounding last name), Jonathan Baugh, and Dustin Doering have come together to create beautiful and mellow music under the name O Conqueror. The opening track "Masquerade" sounds very similar to Ryan Adams' style. Rainy day music is the best way to describe this song, really, and it's great. Some albums first tracks are all BAM RIGHT IN YOUR FACE and it's sort of intimidating, but not with O Conqueror. They're settng the tone for the rest of the album with "Masquerade", easing you into it and letting you know that the rest of the album is going to be a wonderful listening experience. "Memo" reminded me of Ryan Adams yet again, particularly with the harmonica part. "Memo" is the last track on the album, and I think it's great that they began and ended with songs that are similar in tone. They start off tenderly and end tenderly. Very well done! "Death Bed", the song you can find above, may seem like it's a sad song at first glance, but it's not, I promise! It's actually an extremely sweet song and the xylophone is a great touch. Fans of Laura Stevenson & the Cans as well as the Civil Wars will enjoy this one. On "Greatest Day", they shake it up a little and show that they are capable of more than just sweetness and deep, velvety smooth goodness with their runes. The rhythm of this track is pretty much the bob-your-head, tap-your-toes kind of catchy. "Fake Love" and "Shed Our Skin" have those certain qualities about them that...they are both one of those songs that you need to drive 70 mph down the highway with the windows down to get the full effect. Trust me. "Pushing Daisies" has got that beautifully haunting thing going on. It gave me chills, but the good kind of chills. Simply put, O Conqueror is going to go places. There aren't too many sweet, mellow and deep bands out there nowadays, but O Conqueror's album will change that very soon. Oh yes it will. Also, you can head over to their website www.oconqueror.com right now and get two tracks for free! What are you waiting for?!

For now, here's their song "Masquerade" for you to have a listen to. Fans of Ryan Adams and fellow Texas-based bands The Canvas Waiting and Courrier will enjoy this song!

I Think I Like It - The London Souls
"Yeah, you're crazy but I think I like it."
Straight out of NYC comes The London Souls. It is said this trio's name is a nod to bands like Cream, The Who, and Led Zeppelin who came out of England. It's easy to see that they're hugely inspired by these bands - the London Souls' music would have fit right in with them. Fun fact: on their self titled album which was released in 2011, nine out of the thirteen tracks were done at the famous Abbey Road Studios.
Unfortunate news though: a couple days ago, lead vocalist and guitarist Tash was the victim of a hit and run taxi in NYC. He had to have brain surgery, and he's getting better but he's still in intensive care. So keep him in your thoughts, yeah?
Edit: According to various friends on twitter as of June 7th, Tash is doing extremely well and the doctors said he would be in a coma for a month but one friend said that he's doing great and even picked up a guitar and just played. Yeah, yeah.

Music news that made me happy dance today.
The Canvas Waiting - according to this article here, TCW will be releasing a song a month over the next six months and it will all be leading up to the release of their new EP. The last time these guys had new music was when Chasing Color came out which was in 2010 so I'M EXCITED FOR THIS.
The Icarus Account - according to a post on Ty Turner of the Icarus Account's personal tumblr, they'll have new music out next month. 10 new songs. As in new album. Excuse me as I flail around for a minute.

Lament - Mount Moriah
"But if scars could sing about the permanent things, they'd say it's damaged but it was something."
The members of Mount Moriah from Chapel Hill, North Carolina met seven years ago through working at a record store together. They were originally called Un Deux Trois and released one EP, Lovers, but soon changed their name to Mount Moriah.
Under the name Mount Moriah, they have released two albums. One of them is Letting Go, released in 2010, and for only being 3 songs long, it definitely shows the incredible raw talent that the band possesses (whoa, that's a lot of s's). The other album was released only a year later and today's song "Lament" can be found on there. Fans of the Civil Wars will enjoy Mount Moriah's music and will find that Heather's voice is similar to Joy's of the Civil Wars - as sweet and smooth as a voice can be, but also possessing incredible lung power.
