Mr Plankton and the name puns (non-exhaustive list lol). Has this been done?

재미 (Jae-mi): amusement/interest. Whenever the characters talk about "having fun", "not having fun", it also sounds like they're talking about Jae-mi (and vice-versa). Which gives us MANY, MANY double-meaning dialogue, mostly from Hae-jo, saying things like "This isn't fun" (="Jae-mi isn't here"). Just as an example, in the GIF above, she says (literal, ugly translation): "You hate it when it's not fun", but Hae-jo also hears it as, "You hated it, without me (Jae-mi)."

Hae-jo: sounds similar to 해줘. It's the imperative form of the verb "to do". So, his name sounds like "do it", as in, when you're asking someone for a favor/service. It ties into his job, as he runs an "errand house." There's a whole flashback scene in ep7 where we see how he got the (nick)name. Every errand he's asked to do by the workers at the host bar ends with 해줘, like punctuation.

어흥 (Eo Heung): growl, roar (associated with a tiger sound) / 흥 (heung): fun/excitement. There's a whole thing about Heung being seen and treated like a wimpy dog, while Jae-mi brings the "tiger" out of him. His name also mirrors Jae-mi's; they both mean joy/fun.

Kkari: comes from 따까리 (ddakkari), a derogatory term for servant / 까리하다 (kkari-hada) is old slang for "cool" in Busan dialect. My guy gets dragged here and there like a vulgar lackey, but he's actually pretty awesome.

(범) Beom Ho-ja: her last name translates directly to "tiger." Self explanatory. She named her son accordingly lol.

John Na: phonetically, sounds like the intensifier used as a curse word in Korean-> 존나, like freaking/fucking. 존나 아파 = "That fucking hurts" (="It hurts, John Na"), or 존나 잘생겼다 = "fucking handsome" Fun fact, Na In-woo's English name is John Na.

봉숙 (Bong-sook): first part of her name 봉 (bong) can be translated to "phoenix" OR "pushover" (sort of. lmao gotta love languages). Hae-jo uses the idiom with the "phoenix" aspect 봉 잡았다 (=to come by unexpected luck, good fortune), but also affectionately calls her his "jackpot" (it was translated as "softie" in the subs too, for the pushover side) since he was lucky she found him by chance, tamed him like you would a stray cat, and always lets him have his way.

Another interesting detail: she is the one to give Hae-jo his name. Like a mom. Y'know.

Gangster Chil-seong: lmao this one is just goofy. He shares a name with the soda (cider) brand. Hae-jo mocks him for it at one point.

Hey, Depp Cult: It’s over, and you got nothing that you wanted.

The appeal is settled.  That means Depp’s case is dismissed with prejudice and he signed a settlement in which Amber Heard denied liability.  After spending 26 million dollars on lawsuits in two countries, all Depp has to show for it is a twice-upheld ruling that he’s a wife-beater and also a piece of paper that says seven idiots agreed with him.  He can wipe his ass with that or roll a blunt, it’s his choice.

Amber is free.  He can’t relitigate their relationship anymore.  She has no gag order, no injunction, no NDA.  She did not accept guilt.  On Instagram today, she stated that the UK court found she had been subjected to domestic and sexual violence, and he can’t touch her for saying that.  He’s toothless.

She’s not paying a cent; her insurance is.  Depp spent 26 million and got one million back.  What a deal.

Oh, and her countersuit still stands.  He still owes her two million.  So let’s take a tally:  Judge granted Heard a restraining order, UK judgment (upheld twice on appeal) found Depp was a wife-beater and rapist, VA jury found that Depp defamed Heard through Waldman, and now Depp’s verdict against her no longer matters and isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.  That’s Amber: 4, Depp: 0.

Depp will never have a career resurgence, because in his own words, he’s “never getting clean and sober.”  Big studios won’t touch him.  He’s out of Pirates.  He’s out of Fantastic Beasts.  He’s already ruining his reputation in the European indie scene with his horrible behavior on set.  His music is shit.  He looks like his liver is trying to claw its way free of his body.

Meanwhile, Amber’s still Mera in Aquaman.  She has about as much screen time in the sequel as she did in the original.  She has another film, In the Fire, coming out in 2023.  She’s free to resume her activism work.  And one day she’ll write a tell-all book and be the star of multiple documentaries about how she was vilified and wronged, and maybe you remoras will feature in those documentaries, dressed as poop or giggling over a victim describing her rape.

(Don’t forget, the Internet is forever!  One day your kids will see that, and then they’ll go no contact.)

And let’s not forget that now, thanks to your efforts to unseal court documents, the whole world knows that Depp’s dick doesn’t work.

man im a bit disappointed with the way summer strike is going. ep 6 kinda pissed me off with the way they handled bom’s abuse. Also we are halfway through this drama and i don’t feel like enough character development is happening for yeoreum. Also yeoreum and daebum are not giving the way i want them to like tell me why yeoreum and bom’s relationship has more meaningful development and chemistry than the two romantic leads. I get they’re introverted and this is a slowburn but something is missing idk. that being said the next episode looks like we might get some progress (aside from the annoying love triangle they’re about to throw at us)

im liking summer strike so far! its healing and wholesome though i wish it weren’t so melodramatic at times but alas melodrama is one of its genres so i can’t fault it there. 

I do wish they hadn’t written away daebum’s muteness so quickly. It would’ve been really interesting to explore that in a romance dynamic and its not something you usually see in a kdrama. Apparently daebum’s character in the webtoon has a stutter which hasn’t doesn’t appear so far in the kdrama so im assuming they’ve changed that about his character too in the kdrama which is a bit of shame if so.

i'm putting them all into one category because there's a lot of them but they're all rather short. some of the longer ones are legend of yunqian, legend of yunze, led astray by love, the vampires, a practical guide to being a superstar's assistant. because they're so short the stories are generally too fast-paced and the production is not high by any means but they're all so beautiful and cute and i enjoy them a lot so i decided to include them in the list. you can find all of the ones i mentioned and more here and here
