light has autism (i hc p much all of the wammy's kids and both yagami siblings as autistic) but when he was a kid, he got scolded for expressing himself constantly. the japanese justice system was his first special interest, and he would go on longwinded tangents abt it whenever anyone asked what his dad did. eventually, he learned it was easier to be quiet than to make noise, even if he craved attention. and, over time, he developed his second spin: psych/sociology, which helped him maneuver through the world.

light feels different on a fundamental level, but rationally he knows hes a lot better than most people at most things. in order to make sense of the two, he figured he must be above most humans, even though he has deeply rooted insecurities abt being perceived as different.

nischalia au where mischa reveals to noel (bigender king) that talia's been questioning her gender and asks him to talk to her, and the hopelessly smitten noel of course does as he asks, even if it hurts him.

he and talia have really broken conversations at first bc ugh google translate, but eventually they figure out how to use the system to their advantage and each start trying to learn mischa's second languages. they become p much best friends and eventually talia realizes she doesn't fall under the binary.

noel sees how much they love each other firsthand and it drives him crazy with jealousy, and then he figures out he isn't sure who he's jealous of. he goes to the girls (literally the rest of the choir) for help but of course one of them blabs to mischa.

mischa talks to talia who goes "oh yeah I've had a crush on noel for ages but I doubted he'd want to date me bc he saw me as a girl most of the time". mischa is sososo relieved bc he's been tearing his hair out over some unexpected feelings toward noel.

they all talk and date and no one dies the end.

imagine waking up to no texts from her beloved fiance, who always leaves her good morning texts even though its late at night for him. the last thing that was sent was hours ago about the fall fair.

its so incredibly unlike him that she panics, trying to think of a somewhat reasonable thing that happened - his phone died or he broke it, he fell asleep early, hes out with his friends and forgot his phone, something, anything.

finally, she goes to the internet. she searches, mischa bachinski, and news articles upon news articles in english that she couldnt understand. she has to ask a friend to translate.

she knows asl, lsq, and lse bc her dad is from spain and once she told him she wanted to learn different ways to communicate, they started learning together

she, ocean, and mischa dropped out of the choir bc she knew she was permanently mute and they wanted to show support

everyone joins her writing club, of course, and she and noel never stop typing ideas back and forth on Google docs (ocean hates it bc it hurts her eyes so they move to a separate doc to accommodate her)

coming out was really hard even tho her parents were super supportive bc she feels like she already has given them too much to worry about

penny holds her hand thru it and tells her how proud she is after they're done

she and penny don't start dating until college but they're so in love it makes everyone sick

saw someone critique travis' gming by saying he can't create and manage a distinct cast of characters and I just. what?

everyone is entitled to their opinion!! BUT. Dust has quite literally been one of my all time favorite campaigns, and that rhetoric just doesn't apply to it? Dust 1 was an absolutely fantastic story and the idea that "he can't bring his characters to life like griffin" is frankly absurd to me.

I understand if you didn't like graduation, it definitely felt a lot... lighter? to me if that makes sense, because griffin's dming often maintains a sort of heavy tone. but, travis is a sunny personality and that shines through in his characters!! even from a standpoint of the pcs he's played, it doesn't all "just feel like travis". of the three brothers, yes, you can pick out which characters travis plays, but can you look me in the eye and say devo is just travis? what about aubrey?

look, I understand if you want to critique travis' radio specifically, because his voices aren't often incredibly different, but his character creation is so impressive. (not going to get into it but justin is the only one without the problem of similar voices most of the time, at least in my opinion.)

maybe I'm just newer to engaging with the general fandom, idk, but there's this obsession with balance I've ended up seeing quite a few times. it's not coming back, and not everyone has to like it. balance is my second favorite season and I love it a lot, but I'm beginning to think too many people put it on a pedestal, when it wasn't perfect in the slightest. I personally do not want to listen to yall throw a fit over not enjoying travis' gming. the least you can do is be polite and respectful with your criticism.

people have talked extensively abt how they liked or dislike the hand of guidance before devo's flashback, but putting in my two cents;

literally just hearing griffin play her has made me start shaking. relistening to her introduction, how well she and amber got along, was fucking terrifying. because devo has nothing. devo is alone, and while amber and zoox care about him in their own way, devo literally can't tell bc no one helped to socialize him as a kid!! the reason I stopped mid-season to do a tma relisten was because i felt no one actively took the time to understand devo. his complete lack of control over so many situations, his frustrating helplessness, fucking hurt, especially bc I'm someone who struggled with undiagnosed autism for most of my adolescence.

and guidance made him that way. the parish took this child and beat him down into the successor guidance needed without concerning themselves with him being a literal baby. devo never got the chance to even be a kid. all he was was devotion and when he gave up on that, he was nothing, he had nothing, and he still genuinely tried to be a good and happy person. but he couldn't forget what was done to him.

guidance is one of the most genuinely evil characters in taz if I'm honest, and boy am I glad she's dead.

so I've only gotten abt halfway thru ethersea bc I did a magnus relisten around what I like to call "tolliver time", but relistening to the beginning really helps me appreciate devo beyond giggling kicking my feet pretty man. I was raised by a priest and my family is very church-minded, so resentment towards the church and parish as an entity is so real. I really love how trav creates characters who are so distinct every single time. devo is hard to get along with, unlike magnus, but not for lack of trying, unlike Nadiya. he's just very true to life and honestly to me as a person, which is devastating on a level I can't really process. I'm rambling but ugh he hurts me a lot and I am so grateful for that.

I love devo and I am a little terrified abt hearing which direction trav takes him bc he is so me?? art imitates life and vice versa n all that
