Ella Ashmore really is living the scariest Cinderella story. Like most other Cinderella's step-families are just abusive, which is still bad, obviously. But Ella isn't just being abused, she's being abused by LITERAL monsters. Her Stepmother pretends to be a stern but caring step-parent (see how she interacts with Ella while with others), literally wearing someone else's skin. She killed not only Ella's father but the servants too, and i wouldn't have put it past her to have done it within Ella's sight. And no one believes Ella. No matter how much she begs for help, no matter who she was before, the village shuns her, and she is written off as Cursed Crazy. The two people who do end up believing her are literally KILLED IN FRONT OF HER and then worn by her step-sisters. More Cinderella's in general should get to kill their Stepmother but Ella Ashmore ESPECIALLY deserved to kill hers. And I'm glad she did.

I love Ella and Tadius together in any way, romantic, queerplatonic, best friends with a one-sided crush, but I think how I generally think of them is like how I ship Mary Poppins and Bert: a queerplatonic(-esque?) relationship between an aro/ace woman and a man who is completely and utterly head over heels for her and expresses that love every chance he gets in whatever way he can, while she’s just quietly affectionate and appreciative towards him

Btw a thing I can’t stop thinking about in the Tadius and Ella conversation at the ball is how hilariously Tadius screws up at so many points in it (though I do think most were intentional, because it’s stuff he normally can get away with)

Especially the moment where’s he’s like (paraphrased) “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply your house is without prestige or honour” and then immediately afterwards follows it with what could very easily be construed as yet another insult. Once again, paraphrased: “truth be told I do not recognize which house you’re from so it must not be very prestigious in the first place”

Like. DUDE. I know you can probably get away with stuff like this when speaking with the prince but? !! ??? !!!!

(Also, Ella catches this implication/insult immediately, of course, and also immediately calls it out)
