are constelics valid? i was always wondering this and my friend (whose otherkin) seems to not like them. i’m a little confused as to what they are too.
Hey there, grey friend with sunglasses!
Admittedly, I don't know many of the new terms being coined for some types of identities, so I had to look this one up.
According to the coiner, constelic refers to folks whose identities are picked up later in life, and are generally not permanent. Constelic identities (or stels) are not something you're born with, and whether or not you choose your stels depends on the person and/or the individual stels. Stels can last anywhere from a very short amount of time (around a week) to a lifetime (though this is uncommon).
Honestly, sounds like it occupies some of the space between linktypes and flicker identities. I'm not an expert on any of these, as I don't experience them, but I'm not surprised to see an overlap there.
My take on whether or not something is valid is this: if it is a good-faith identity that is actually being experienced by someone, and it isn't harming them or anyone else, then yes. We should always approach these things with curiosity and empathy, rather than ire, since both the human and nonhuman experiences are so diverse and unique.
To your friend, if they wish to listen: From one otherkin person to another, I would ask you to look inward and figure out what about this identity bothers you. Then, read about it, and seek to understand them before you make a call on whether they are valid.
Tl;dr: Constelic is just another form of alterhumanity that someone could experience. There is no good reason to call it invalid, if you ask me. Be curious and always seek to understand first.
Wind at your back!

Memories and phantom limbs do not a kintype make. There are a lot of 'kin who explain their identities with psychology rather than spirituality, and it doesn't make them any less 'kin than spiritual folks. The only requirement for being 'kin is that you identify as nonhuman or fictional.
Look into psychological otherkin/fictionkin experiences, as well as otherflicker/fictionflicker identities. These are both involuntary experiences that may fit what you're going through a bit better.
Best of luck, and wind at your back!
Ok so recently I’ve been thinking about my copinglinks and how they formed
I know they formed from my trauma and mental illnesses
I know it was involuntary
I go in between identifying “with “ and identifying “ as” my coping links… i mostly identify as them tho
I have mental shifts and they are involuntary
I don’t experience phantom limbs or memories tho
I know fictional character coping links formed from my hyper fixation and sometimes they are “dropped “ when the hyper fixations stops but some of them are more intense
I know that I get intense feelings of discomfort and sadness when my body doesn’t look correct or when people refer to me as “human “ when I’m having mental shifts
I don’t know what to call myself …. I really do identify as these animals, mythical beings or characters …..but I don’t have memories or phantom limbs like others
Can someone help me??

just found your blog a few minutes ago (as of writing this) and while i haven't read too much into it it seems very fascinating :0
also the amount of reptile/dragon therians and otherkin i've seen on this app makes me very happy as a koboldkin myself
Oh, heck, thank you! Apologies for my sporadic activity, lol.
And yeah, it's nice to have a community catered to draconic and reptilian identities. Happy to see another, kobold friend!

Hey friend!
The idea that otherkinity and therianthropy are just a spiritual connection to another species is misinformation.
Put simply, someone who is otherkin identifies as nonhuman in some non-physical way (usually spiritual or psychological). A therian is someone who identifies as an animal in some non-physical way (usually, therianthropy refers to Earth animals, but the definition is often expanded to include mythical and fictional animals, as well).
The only "requirement" to calling yourself otherkin or therian is that you identify as something other than human, not just with. If you heavily identify with another species, you would be other-hearted, not otherkin.
Beyond that identity, there are no requirements. You can be of any gender, sexuality, age, culture, faith, or whatever and still be otherkin, as long as you see yourself as not human in some way.
Hope this helps!
So recently I've been seeing alot of other kin and therian type things and I'm very curious about it.
Are there certain things you need to be under to be conceived as a other kin or therian?(I know the basis that you feel spiritually connected etc to another species) and in general if they're are things you need to do/feel,I'm wondering the finer details if anyone could tell me :)

✅💫?
✅: Can you make yourself shift? Yes, I can shift voluntarily, though my involuntary shifts tend to be stronger.
💫: Do you have shift triggers, or do they happen randomly? They can happen randomly, but there are things that can also trigger them. Certain sights, sounds, and smells can be triggers (mountains, moths for my tree dragon 'type, etc.), as well as certain activities such as deep meditation and biking.
Thanks for the ask!

🗣: Does anyone know you are otherkin? Friends, family, etc? If so, how did you tell them?
👯‍♂️: Do you have any friends who are also kin?
🐯: Do you wish you were your kintype? Why or why not?
🗣: Does anyone know you are otherkin? Friends, family, etc? If so, how did you tell them? Yes, most people in my life are aware of my nonhumanity. The only ones who aren't are my family, since they are not keen on the idea (though tbh, the more time I spend away from them, the less I care if they know). At first, I was eager to tell friends about my newfound revelation about myself, so I just talked about it. Most people were like "Oh, aight, you do you" (with one exception). Nowadays, if the topic comes up, I'll talk about it openly, but it's not something I tell people unless they ask directly.
👯‍♂️: Do you have any friends who are also kin? Aside from the wonderful friends I've met online, I've had a few irl folks over the years who were alterhuman. I knew a couple angels in university (even dated one of them for a bit), as well as a fox and crow therian (who I didn't know was a therian at the time we were in person). My first roommate (who is now my girlfriend) is also nonhuman. She was awakened by me talking about my own otherkinity, lol.
🐯: Do you wish you were your kintype? Why or why not? I answered this one in my previous post, but the short answer is yes for dragon, enfield, and elf, no for others. Being able to shift between all of them would be ideal, though.

🐯✨💚🤝
🐯: Do you wish you were your kintype? Why or why not? I could be snarky and say "I am my kintypes," but I think this question means physically. For some, yes, absolutely. I honestly long to have a draconic form again, though I also wish I was an enfield or an elf. Some, though, I'm kinda glad I'm not. Hyenas have it rough out there.
✨: What are some things that validate you? I'm not 100% sure what this one means, but I will try to answer. I always feel pretty validated when others just refer to me as one of my kintypes; it lets me know that they see me for me, not just my appearance.
💚: What’s your favorite thing about your kintype? (The species, creature, etc) I don't really have a single top favorite thing for any of them, so I'll name a few I like. My aether dragon kintype has a pretty neat vocal repertoire—we used a sound I call a "roar-howl" to communicate over super long distances. My aether dragon, Eastern dragon, and elven vampire kintypes are all shapeshifters to some degree (the Eastern the most so). I'm iridescent in a few forms. :)
🤝: When did you first hear about the kin community? My first exposure to the kin community was back around 2009-2010, when I discovered the YouTube channel of an occultist who identified spiritually as a phoenix (the channel seems to be gone now, but if anyone finds them, I'd love a link!). I did a bit of digging and came across a forum for Na'vi fictionkin, as well as I think a few other things, but beyond that I don't remember, since I buried my own nonhuman feelings deeper after that. I formally joined the community in late 2015 after I accepted myself as draconic.

💙: What’s your favorite shift you get? Why?
This is kinda tough, since I'm kind of always shifted, but I think my wings, tail, or ears are my favorite. So much more expressive!
Mental shifts for my more animalistic 'types are always fun, too.
Thank you!

🏔: What makes you feel closer to your kintype(s)?
The biggest thing that makes me feel closer is being outside, especially in nature. Hiking is probably one of my favorite activities for this reason.
In these colder months, meditation, my witchcraft practice, consuming media with my kintypes, and eating certain foods all make me feel closer while going outside isn't as feasible.
Thank you for the ask—wind at your back!

The New Age concept of ascension - what is it?
The concept of ascension is central to New Age belief, so you'll hear New Agers talking about it a lot. So what is it?
New Agers essentially believe that it's humanity's destiny to undergo "spiritual evolution" to a next level of existence. At this point in time, the popular belief is that our DNA - or at least the DNA of those who "download" "DNA upgrades" from Source will "shift to 5D" in the near future.
Despite its name, "5D" has nothing to do with mathematical dimensions. Instead, New Agers believe that matter exists in varying states of density, and the fifth density is essentially more ethereal than "3D," or the third density, which we presently live in.
Ascension is functionally the Christian rapture with a eugenicist twist. Where Rapture-believing Christians believe that if you'll spontaneously be translated to spirit form if you convert to (the right kind of) Christianity, New Agers believe that you'll essentially be spontaneously translated to spirit form if you get close enough to God, or Source.
Some people believe that New Agers don't think they have to do any work to ascend - but this really isn't true. Most of them that I've seen believe that they have to "raise their vibrational frequency" so they can connect to Source energy and receive these "downloads." It's functionally the same idea that in order to go to Heaven, you have to get right with God.
So what are the problems?
First of all, it's spiritual eugenics. They effectively believe that people who practice their form of spirituality literally have superior genetics to those who don't. Many believe that it's just nature, fate, God's will, or whatever you want to call it, that those who don't or can't "upgrade" will essentially die off.
Because New Age doesn't have any central authority, beliefs surrounding this vary wildly, and there are relatively benign beliefs about what ascension will entail; EG, Earth will split into two timelines - one where the people who ascended get to live, and one where the people who didn't ascend get to keep reincarnating until they finally do get to ascend and join the other Earth.
Unfortunately, there are also those who believe that climate change is not a man-made phenomena, but rather is part of Earth's ascension process (they believe that Earth is going to ascend to 5D, too), and that related deaths are meant to purge the world of the unevolved.
Another concerning belief is that of "ascension symptoms," where symptoms that could potentially be very medically concerning are dismissed as a natural part of the ascension process. Couple this with a strong mistrust of actual medicine and real doctors (New Age is tied up in conspiracy theories of all kinds), and you've got a recipe for disaster.
One other thing the idea of ascension has in common with the Rapture is the number of times it's been supposed to happen, but failed to materialize. Lots of New Agers expected it to happen on December 21st, 2012. When it didn't, many rationalized it by saying that a consciousness shift had still taken place, and that this consciousness shift was important in preparing the world for actual ascension later on. Basically, it was pretty typical failed prophecy rationalization stuff.
New Agers continue to draw in people who are simply unaware of the movement's long, long history of failed predictions. The average person isn't going to go back and comb through 50+ years of New Age literature to see just how long they've been making extravagant predictions that just never manifest, let alone realize that all of these other failed predictions means the current predictions aren't all that likely to come true, either. If someone looks into it, there's a high chance they'll accept the rationalizations and believe that the predictions actually apply to their own near future, because "your generation is the special generation" is a powerful ego trap.
So yeah, in a nutshell, ascension is just the Rapture for people who believe in spiritual eugenics; and just like the regular Rapture, it has a long history of being involved in failed predictions.

Mostly I need this reminder for myself, so here goes!
When questioning a new kintype, the most important thing is to remove as much influential stuff as possible. If you think you’re a dragon, and you keep researching what’s Normal for dragonkin, or immersing yourself in Flight Rising, you’re not learning about yourself as much as you are impressing an external idea into yourself. Asking yourself what feels right is more important than seeing how you compare, in the early stages and frankly in general.
Especially considering how startlingly easy it is to give yourself false memories based on external influence or internal expectation, as hard as it is I recommend leaving it alone for awhile as opposed to trying to label and box and define and display Right Now. It’s harder to unlearn something than it is to learn it, and if you’re convinced that you must be A Thing and then you talk about it with all of your friends, multiple layers of perceived pressure can prevent you from considering the idea that you might be wrong.
Let it percolate a little and come back to it before you start poking it with a stick. If it’s a kintype at all, it’ll come back louder and more defined when you can’t ignore it anymore, in my experience.

Me, getting to be the Little Guy that edits the Otherkin Fandom Wiki page on A Field Guide to Otherkin to inform everyone that Lupa sucks, actually: ✨🐺✨
For those unaware, Lupa lied about why she took the Field Guide out of print: she originally claimed it was because she felt the book was outdated and because she was no longer a therian. She confessed later in an interview with Dr. Devin Proctor that it was actually because she disapproved that "people [were] trying to literally prove that Otherkin exist in a literal manner in the same way that for example transgender people exist," and because she didn't believe even before writing the Field Guide in otherkin as a form of legitimate nonhuman identification. She took it out of print with the goal of making it inaccessible, and making it harder for otherkin to legitimize themselves and for scholars to engage in research into the otherkin communities. She's done active, intentional harm to otherkin and the otherkin community, and she's openly admitted that that was the point.

Draconic witchcraft is, simply put, a path in witchcraft that involves dragons. Like how some witches work with deities or the Fae or other entities, draconic witches work with dragon spirits. This path is as highly varied as dragons themselves, so most draconic witches tend to walk this path solo (though not always).
Draconic Wicca is a subsect of draconic witchcraft that overlaps with Wicca. These folks follow the Wiccan Rede and most of the tenets of Wicca, but they also revere and work with dragons, either alongside or instead of the Horned God and Goddess.
Draconic witchcraft isn't really new, but it's definitely not an ancient path. It's been around since the last century, but it really took off in the 90's when D.J. Conway started publishing her books on the craft, and since then, quite a few folks have picked it up and started teaching (with mixed results in my view).
I'm not sure what it is, but dragons have gained some recent popularity in the world of witchcraft (if you ask any owner of a metaphysical shop about it, they'll tell you), so it's been a lot more common to stumble across this path by accident.
ok, I'll bite
what the hell is Draconic(?) Witchcraft/Wicca?
Is this something new that has popped up in the last few years? Is it an aesthetic thing? I'm honestly a bit confused.
