I really have too much to say about the amount of growth Carla has shown through her relationship with Lisa, it’s making me insane.
Like there really is a version of her that would have said yes to this rushed proposal made in the haze of grief. There’s a version of her that was happy to rush through a relationship, to let the fire of being loved consume her until it burns her out. Until she’s left standing alone in the smouldering wreckage, because ultimately that’s where she feels she belongs.
And there was a version of her, just a few months back, that wouldn’t fight for a healthier relationship, that would let Lisa run. That would never have let herself be so vulnerable, so real, with someone who she loves with a ferocity that occasionally threatens to break her apart.
There’s just something so fucking special to me in the way that Carla still isn’t convinced that she’s someone worth marrying. Yet with Lisa she allows herself the space to believe that maybe she is. That no matter how much the fear of the wreckage eats at her, she won’t allow the possibility of their happiness to slip through her hands. That she’ll stand amidst the flames and reach out her hand even if it means risking being burnt again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
