IT'S 2AM AND I AM HYPED OUT OF MY GOURD OH MY GOD episode 2 dropped while i was at work (i use youtube in my classes) and i could barely contain my absolute glee. season 3 apparently cured my art block bc i could not get home fast enough to bust out this quick york. forgive the busted ass rim lighting, the drawtectives hype imbued me with the hubris to attempt a background and for once i was compelled to commit to it, in honor of julia lepetit and her 5-second hallway.

i got a new tablet last year around this time, one with a touch screen and a pen, and this is some progress i made, including some style experiments. first one is from late december 2020 and the last one is from a few days ago, december 8 2021.

in my heart she's half orc half elf :) but i'll have to check with the DM about the mechanics of that if i ever play her. i didnt know a lot about subclasses and animal companions when i made her and ive never really... gotten around to giving her one? if that makes sense? so she's kinda half-developed for the time being lmao

Riziva Norran, tiefling warlock

a spoiled twentysomething treating his time on the mortal plane as a traveling gap year. the only reason he's a tiefling and not a full demon is bc his demon mom cheated on his dad with a human; he uses the fact his dad is unaware to blackmail his mom into a warlock pact with him.

Iko Ygreon, human wizard

Isoi Ygreon, human warlock

twin sisters! Isoi fooled around with magic and got herself posessed by a demon, then made a bargain (and a pact) with them to get back control over her own body, but the demon remained inside her. Iko immediately went searching for spells to help her sister, teaching herself to do magic and traveling from library to library to find a way to banish the demon. i also have a teeny liddol corruption arc planned for isoi... as a treat :)

Spike Blackburn, satyr wizard

technically i created Spike for an original work but i made a whole new backstory for them so i guess it counts? theyre kind, nerdy and smol, even for a satyr. everything about them is brown, their arcane focus is a ring they found once and they permanently look like they had their life together until a few weeks ago. their magic looks like pink and gold lightning. their full name is actually Álttágas Ruovdi Beaivibárru (anglicized to Atlas Blackburn, Spike is a nickname that stuck), and it's based on words from the sámi language. (i forgot which variant tho and i'm trying to find the specific resources i based myself on to check, but no luck so far)

Gilligan Crawhorn, halfling monk

i usually write quite a lot of backstory for my characters but i reaaaally went nuts on this one ehehe. (i'll refrain from talking about his criminal past here or otherwise id never stop lmao). way of the open hand monk, wields a spear named Mercy. he's like 47, his beard and dreadlocks are greying a bit and he always looks exhausted and malnourished. his left arm has a full sleeve of tattoos and there's a constrictor snake tattoo around his neck. he's grumpy and stoic, but tries not to be, and is also chock full of self-loathing. like, its insane. he also may or may not have taken on a different name when running from his past 👀

Falke Cadiatou, earth genasi barbarian

my sweet anxious baby whose biceps would probably be bigger than my head. their overprotective parents tried to find them a hobby to burn their energy off, landed on swordfighting and their child grew up to be ripped af and good with a zweihander. is very protective of their friends, always has snacks with them and goes into rage when the internet connection on their shitty laptop crashes.

Tempest, tiefling druid

i always like to describe her as 'trans and full of rage' ehehe :D her full name is Tempest Felicity Rannoch Argyll, she's a circle of stars druid and served as a sailor/navigator on a ship after running away from her transphobic home. i'm planning on getting her the inspiring leader feat, and then have the party sing sea shanties together to build courage and team spirit :D

Vinnitskaya Raimes, drow bard

is extremely gay. idk what you expect from me but i'm a simple creature, i see a bard and i make him gay. he's just a pleasant dude with dad vibes :) instead of playing music he's more of a storyteller, but he does ridiculous dance moves and finger guns to give bardic inspiration. also, dad jokes. a lot of them.

Scoop, kenku cleric

my sweet gal is a kiwi kenku and a grave cleric :D she was born 18 years ago, but in kenku years that's like early thirties bc their lifespan is shorter. she's a mortician in training and refers to herself as the sound of a shovel hitting dirt

Gwythyrnaomh Leitz Adnan, eladrin paladin

yes you read that name wrong lmao :D i smooshed a welsh and an irish name together and called it a day. noble-born and rich, in her mid-forties, single mom of two children, freshly divorced from her awful husband. hates it when you don't use her full first name and gets irritated at the leaves and flower petals that keep growing in her hair as per her eladrin magic. she's haughty and snobby and generally unpleasant to be around, but will help people in need if it serves her cause. i wanted to toy around with a lawful evil paladin and see where it would get me :)

Emeraude Cavender, half-elf rogue (?)

hoo boi did he change classes a lot. originally a sorcerer, then a wizard, then an arcane trickster rogue, then a soul knife rogue, then a bloodhunter, etc etc. i'm still not completely sold on one particular subclass but i think rogue fits him best. emeraude loves his friends, his uncle and his tiny little bat friend named Dipper (a north american small brown bat btw, they fit in the palm of your hand and theyre so cute). where tempest is trans and full of rage, emeraude is trans and completely devoid of rage; he's very chill and only the tiniest bit smug. he's a rich boy with a pastel purple mullet and a love for black velvet robes.

Dunixi Kalyan Eneko, half-orc sorcerer

a wild magic sorcerer, and because of this he's just always been extremely unlucky. his name is basque and is pronounced doo-nee-shee, but he often goes by Dionisio or Dion bc when he was a kid people would call him 'dunce' by means of a weird wordplay on his name and the fact that he's very clumsy. his magic looks like a flow of multicolored geometric shapes, like the patterns on the seats in those old tour buses. honestly he's just a guy who's doing his best lmao

Tsisana Miluvoj, air genasi blood hunter

i love her a lot bc theres a lot of things about her that come full circle i think :D loyal, hardworking, witty, lively, easily infatuated. has no memories of her life before she was 10 and doesn't know where she's originally from, but her hair looks like the northern night sky so... 👀... her order is her family; i felt like ghostslayer was the most thematically appropriate here :) the name her mentors in the order gave her, Tsisana (shortened to Tsisia or Isi) is an alternative word for 'forget-me-not flower' in Georgian, which, again, considering her backstory... heh... she also has a few tattoos with those flowers and her skin colour is pretty close to them.

here’s my D&D character for an upcoming one-shot! their name is Falke Cadiatou, they’re an earth genasi barbarian and they’re an adorable awkward mess.

their subclass is path of the ancestral guardian, which i kind of reinterpreted in the modern context as them just having severely overprotective parents who literally materialize as protective spirits and help their child in battle.

they wield a greatsword, more specifically a zweihänder, because those look cool and i couldn’t stop myself eheheh :)

since it’s gonna be a game set in a modern setting, we’re all gonna be playing students. i had some fun ideas for falkes background, but ultimately settled on the far traveler and decided to make them a student who lives just close enough to campus to not need to move out from their parents’ house, but instead has to endure a long commute every day. (it sucks balls. speaking from experience.)

i’ll be playing the one-shot with some friends from uni and the setting will be our actual campus, which i still think is a huge brain move. i’m so excited :D

my first real attempt at a full illustration with full background, lines and shading, or at least the first attempt i’m really happy with! i recently did my first playthrough of night in the woods and lemme tell you. this game is actively changing my life rn. the characters are amazing, the many layers of narrative are amazing, and the art is just stunning. i found the art style to be very forgiving in terms of shapes, which encouraged me to commit to a full piece, and i really like how this piece turned out in the relatively short time i actually spent on it.
