How is your week?!? My my my! Mine started with a broken computer yesterday but because I have amazing friends, it also got fixed yesterday!! Life thunders on and it unfortunately puts me a day behind schedule but I'll gratefully take it. Not too shabby for a leisurely Caturday eve! All done with my brand new 00000 Princeton brush. I LOVE IT!! I can practically stipple with this brush. It's so tiny. I did the top half free hand on my new smooth Bristol pad while listening to a livestream, drawing at the kitchen table with @a.little.rabbit. Sounds like a great start to the weekend to me. May the Force be with us all on this glorious day! Especially now that have an administration hell bent on breaking all that is good in this country. Let's hope this disastrous "healthcare" bill doesn't get pushed through tomorrow, resulting in kicking 24 million people off insurance, cutting Medicaid and Medicare, overturning the pre-existing condition rules from the ACA and so much more. If you're still reading, sorry to be a bummer but if it moves you to learn about this or pick up the phone/email it will be worth it. I wasn't gonna do anything for The Fourth but reading about this new attempt at Trumpcare launched from the Death of America Star put this image squarely in my head. Worth my lunch break. Slide to the end to see how I made a million in Mars futures! Happy Monday, here is a new batch of my Transit Peepz™, collect them all! 🚌🚎🚍🚔These are done in about 5-10-15 minutes on the bus with my trusty Pilot Metropolitan in my tiny little pocket sketchbook. Most of these fine citizens are staring at their phones, asleep or otherwise not paying attention to my (artfully) loving gaze. The girl with the high hair was about 1-2 minutes, the first sleeping bearded gentleman was about 15 because he was fast asleep and I had all the time to study him. I had one lady behind me tap me on the shoulder to ask me what I was doing because she thought my behaviour shifty (looking up and down at this one sleeping dude) and wanted to make sure I wasn't up to no good. "Uh, I am drawing" was my response and i held up my booklet while she went on and on about how she didn't know what I was doing. I nodded and smiled and just reiterated (3 times) that I was drawing. She really saved the day there. Also, one day I'll be able to stop drawing people with raincoats, I'm sure of it. Maybe. Happy Tax day! Told you I was into little animals in big mechs. Here's a WIP of this li'l digging guy, working for the weekend! This was done with my trusty Winsor & Newton brush and India ink. Initially meant for March of Robots, I never got around to finishing him & I have too many pieces right now in various state of unfinishedness. I've been pretty stressed lately for many reasons (tax day one of them) and not enough drawing time/unfinished drawings only add to that stress. I'm not one of those people that turns stress into great art. So I have been forbidden by my ❤️darling to start any more pieces until I finish those. A little update on the death ranger craving pizza! Not sure whether to colour or just add some nice ink washes. It was my birthday today 🦄🙈🐼🍆🎉and it's been lovely today. Very leisurely. My darling got me some fantastic presents including a new bike as well, never had a bike as nice as that. Also some new pens and a great portable watercolor set! I'm excited to try them all out! Then spoke to my fambly abroad and then the always beautiful @kimillustration took us all out for a lovely dinner, so tasty. Then @msnmedia took us all out for a classy night enjoying the Oregon Symphony playing Mozart's Requiem. We all dressed up. Lot of double Windsor knots were tied. And there you have it: my first watercolour piece on this blessed day of Caturday. What do you think? I started it last night while listening to and watching the always lovely and entertaining @alisavysochina draw & colour her many witches. I learned a lot from her great live stream earlier in the afternoon so I decided to put it into practice. And practice I did. She makes it look so easy! I spent hours layering and blending and adding. Biggest things I learned that watercolour can be quite forgiving! I love erasing my messy patches with water, blending mistakes and I do enjoy adding texture with a simple napkin. My biggest problem so far I think is mixing the right colours. My values are all over the place but all in all I'm quite pleased. I need a proper palette thingie, currently using the plastic protective sheet my water colours came in. Next one I'll try and do quicker, following Alisa's example with a base coat and some darker tones. I want to achieve a cleaner and lighter look with less coats. I've been digging on small animals in big mech suits lately, so perhaps you will enjoy this raven-slash-crow! I've also been digging on crows as characters for a while now, preferably in a suit or other clothes. I got this cool dry brush effect because I left my brush pen uncapped for a while and as a result it wouldn't properly ink any more. This was an unplanned doodle, just let my mind wander and my hand ink! About time I do more of that. Been a rollercoaster week. How was your week?! Work and life still have me a little pinched right now but I wanted to break my non-posting streak and give you guize a little WIP of this Death Squad member having a well deserved lunch break. "In between the blood and lamentation of your poor victims, sometimes you get a little peckish. You're only human! Have a slice of pizza, and some 'you' time because you deserve it!" Lately, this is how far I get with any of my drawings before I run out of time or have to do smth else. Real stop and go and it's killing my flow. Add to that work, life, my internal world and my seeming inability to balance it all, that's where you end up. I will figure it out soon, I'm sure.
