Takeda, BIPI, Lily and Bayer- available educational medical grants
Just as in many other fields, continuing research and education in the field of medicine often depends on the availability of funds. As a test search in finding available funding in the field of medical education, we looked at three companies in the pharmaceutical industry that offer educational medical grants.
First we looked at Takeda, global pharmaceutical company. They offer  educational medical grants in the following therapeutic areas:
Gastroenterology (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)
Neuroscience (Major Depressive Disorder)
Oncology
Through their educational grants, they support:
Certified Continuing Medical Education
Non—certified, Independent Medical Education
Patient education and tools
Quality Improvement Education
Second company we looked at was Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals and they offer independent medical education grants in the therapeutic field of Oncology and Respiratory, as well as a special grant in cooperation with Lily with the specific educational focus on Diabetes.
Third company we looked at was Bayer, one of the biggest global pharmaceutical companies and the support they offer is in a wide range of therapeutic areas through medical educational grants with instructions about the application system and conditions available in detail on the link.
This is not a comprehensive list of grants, of course, but it is an example of a possible first step in medical education funding search - checking web sites of big companies (medical supplies, tech companies, pharmaceutical, etc.) present in the field you are interested/working in.
Good luck!

Solidity Vertebral Body Replacement (VBR) device - Ulrich Medical innovation in spine implants
Ulrich Medical USA, Inc., medical devices company focused on developing and commercializing musculoskeletal implant technologies in the United States recently introduced the latest innovation in their spine implants portfolio, next-generation vertebral body replacement (VBR) device called Solidity.
Ulrich medical chief commercial officer Erika Laskey said in a statement following the launch:
“We are very pleased to release the Solidity VBR to the market in response to continued surgeon demand for additional corpectomy treatment options for their patients. The Solidity product incorporates more than forty years of our unparalleled experience in the research, development, manufacturing and commercialisation of expandable spine implant technologies worldwide.”
Solidity vertebral body replacement device expands the company’s spinal implants portfolio, which comprises expandable VBRs, interbody cages, rod-screw systems and plates. It received FDA clearance less than 2 months ago and the world’s first implantation of this titanium implant was performed in Palm Springs, California on December 28, 2018 by neurosurgeon Blake Berman, D.O., FACS, FACOS, Section Chief Division of Neurosurgery, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, and Medical Director of the Spine Program at the Institute of Clinical Orthopedics and Neurosciences at Desert Regional Medical Center.
Solidity is a titanium implant that consists of a main centrepiece with 625 end cap configurations in a single set. It is used for surgical reconstruction of defects of the spine and it can be used with a variety of implants based on a patients’ individual anatomy. It is designed to allow a maximum range of device access in order to support any surgical method. The device also enables revision and fine-tuning of a construct to fit patient anatomy.
One of Solidity VBR’s distinct advantages is its innovative design that allows for Solidity end caps to be attached in a full 360° orientation on a Solidity center piece. This maximizes the range of device access to support any surgical approach. In addition, the end caps can be replaced or exchanged after a construct has been assembled, allowing surgeons to revise and fine-tune a construct to fit patient anatomy.
