What in Dragon Blazes is going on????

Susie and Noelle? Together? And Kris knew of this?? Now his dream... wasn't one??? Unless he somehow sank into another nightmare. The pang of rejection, the fear of uncertainty, the all-encompassing darkness consuming the entirety of the festival-- everything happened so fast. All that was left for him was an unknown landscape. With little idea of his surroundings and current status, he paced around in a circle, biting at his wing in a nervous preen. Until the realization hits him he wasn't left alone, just with an almost unfamiliar lifeform. He halts in his tracks, yanking himself away from his misery with such force he plucked a feather from his hand.

Straining his memory in the din of his turbulent thoughts, the bluebird recalled the fuzzy little friend of Kris's. A 'lackey,' Berdly had once called him. Just who was he...? And why was he trying to pull his mind and fears away from Susie and Noelle? Seems awfully suspicious... Was that a sense of relief welling up in his chest? Of course! There could only be one answer! And it looked like his suspicions were true!

*N-No need to get embarrassed! I know you want to pry Susie and Noelle from my memory so you could occupy my mind palace instead.

*It's understandable, but... haha, as you say, this is our first proper meeting! I'd like to know what to call you instead of 'lackey.'

*And, uh... Do you... have any idea where we are?

Dark swallows all when the lights turn off, leaving the lone bluebird to retreat into the solace of a phone to illuminate the empty room. Closing down for the night-- an all too familiar task. After that strange dream he had, he thought it refreshing to return to his routine, only to have his headspace assaulted with unanswered questions and odd... feelings. Feelings of distant whimsy, feelings of warmth, feelings of dread. None of what happened was real! So why was his arm still asleep?

The dull light of the moon greets him on his way out the door, allowing Berdly to pocket his device and replace it with a key. The key to his haven of books, to be locked away until the morrow. A sigh leaves his beak. Why must his energy run low before the walk home? A frown curls as he steels himself for his next adventure when a voice calls to him from the depths of the blackened room behind him.

With a ruffle of his feathers and a brief halt of his heart, he flicks his head back,

*Who goes there?!

No movement, but a cold grip tightening around his shoulder.

*Am I hearing things...? I could've sworn it mentioned... Queen?

((So! How’re we feeling about the new chapters? Finished both, and hoooooo boy, we got lots of juicy stuff! Wasn’t expecting both chapters to take place in less than 24 hours, but I guess it was expected with the way chapter 3’s fountain was made. The content I got for my birdie boy validated a couple of my predictions, but overwrote others. One of them being my headcanon of where he is/what he’s doing.

I was right in assuming he’d be at the hospital all day after the events of chapter 2 (if you fry his arm/freeze him. He’s working at the library otherwise) but didn’t know the day after would be the festival. If I were to reboot the blog, he’ll be at the festival! I assume he’ll ultimately hang out with Kris, Susie, and Noelle (please Toby, please let him actually make friends with Kris, Susie and be a better friend to Noelle I’m on my knees), but to promote interaction and to keep my sanity, he’ll be alone for now.

Will prolly update his ref. Find a new way to draw him that I like.

By the way, Berdly’s ‘I keep having nightmares of burning my arm’ made me go absolutely feral. CANONICAL ANGST I CAN WRITE ABOUT!))

Oh hello! just found out about this ask blog and read through the Plot Directory, pretty cool stuff, might I ask how the main plot stuff is conjured, I've seen a lot of it is interactions with other blogs and was curious.

((Hey! I’m glad you like what you see! A lotta of my blog planning is through dming @undertheirwings / @enbyhoneyfluff on discord and writing out the main scenario, but because I want to keep this blog as interactive with other people as I can, I try to include asks and use them to help move the plot along, like having Berdly trip while doing his job, for instance. I’ve been pretty slow lately due to school and other art stuff, but rest assured, I have plans, and most of the questions I receive are still in the inbox, even stuff from a year ago.))
