The Many Things of a Day

 I have been reading, The Winter of Our Discontent, by John Steinbeck and came across a line from the book.  “A day, a livelong day, is not one thing but many.���  That one line, got my attention.  I started thinking about my days and how easy it is to get caught up in the one thing.  That one thing that wants to try and demand all of my attention.  How  easily I can lose sight of the many things.  One thing tries to capture me and the many things slip by faint and indiscriminately.   Today, I will attempt to focus on the many things and express myself through the many things that make up my livelong day.  One thing, not today!

When you think a scarf isn't your thing!

  This past weekend I got to spend time with my sister and of course we found time to try on many scarves. She does not like anything around her neck, and that feeling is unshakeable. But she loves scarves and felt she was missing out on this great accessory. I told her I had an easy solution for her dilemma. We found the colors she loved in mini scarves and tied them as a bracelet around her wrist and it was awesome, used as an accessory that was beautiful, different and creative. I then suggested we try some scarves in her hair. She has short hair so she wasn’t thinking it would look nice but was willing to give it a try. Again, we found some scarves and wrapped them loosely around her hair with the tails hanging down the front and she looked stunning.  The look was transforming and the look on her face when she saw herself in the mirror was fantastic. We took a mini scarf and tied it with the knot in front off to the side a bit and what a fun look that was. She was thrilled. So, don’t be afraid to try wearing a scarf in a way that may be outside your comfort zone. Scarves are so versatile, experiment with the different ways to tie a scarf, different ways to wear a scarf: in your hair, around your neck, an accessory on your purse, as a belt, as a bracelet on your wrist. There are so many options, don’t be afraid to explore and you will find something that is very comfortable for you, and speaks to who you are.

So I listened. Now it would be wonderful to captivate you with a romantic story as to where the inspiration for my designs came from. Long walks on a sunset beach, a serene drive down a coastal highway in a 1955 Goldenrod Yellow T-Bird convertible, strolling down a quaint cobblestone path in an enchanting city. But I can’t.

The truth is the muse behind my striking scarves began as a tiny nudge at my mind, instilling a simple longing of wanting something more. Something different. I wanted to create scarves that would be a dramatic accent statement, beautiful and artistic, adaptable to the aura you want to create for yourself each day, each scarf as unique as the woman wearing it.
