“It’s not a bad idea,” He added quietly. “I just wasn’t in the right mind to process what was going on.” Emu shuffled closer to where Kiriya’s voice was coming from, still tucked in bed. “I really, really like the idea of us being like that, don’t get me wrong! I just think I want to at least finish my residency at the hospital before jumping into this so fast...”

“Ok I think l you need the rest of the day off…” Kiriya mumbled as he picked Emu up and carried him to the apartment he shared. When he opened the door he was greeted by…Yoshin feasting on a dead rat.

“Aw geez Yoshi really! you are getting blood everywhere” Kiriya groaned as he kicked the door shut with is foot. He put Emu on the couch. Witing for him to get rest. He was nervous about his answer.

“Maybe proposing to Emu while he was deprived of sleep was a bad idea” Kiriya mumbled as he prepared a cup of coffee for Emu and a cuup of hoot chocolate for himself

Emu was knocked out for a good several hours. When he woke up, he found himself curled up around Kiriya’s pillows. His eyes struggled to open, so he settled on listening around while trying to stay awake.

“Mm,” He grumbled and hid under the covers. “Kiriya, I’m sorry...”

“Oh uh right… this is for you… I wanted to do this after we both got out of work but I guess fate had other plans” Kiriya said grabbing the box and stood on one knee.

“Emu…. since the day we met you know I have always loved you…. and I am aware that you are aware of that fact… and when I woke up I realized I wanna grow old with you despite the fact that I qm a bugster and I cannot physically age anymore… what I am teying to say is… Emu Houjou… will you do me the honors and become Emu Kujou instead?” Kiriya said opening the box to reveal a golden ring.

On the middle of the ring was a yellow and pink Cubic Zirconia gemstones with a small E and K on each side

As he sighed and patted his red hand dry, he turned to be greeted by a proposal. His baggy eyes widened as it began to process in his mind, and his exhausted brain knew what little else to do. “I... I dont- I don’t know what to say!” His hands shook, not from the burns but from the bare shock and weight of Kiriya’s words. “I... I d---”

Before he could finish his reply, the younger man stumbled and fell into the other’s arms, his fatigue finally getting the best of him as he quite literally fell asleep.

“Ah geez!! Sorry Emu lemme help” Kiriya said as he grabbed a bunch of tissues. As he bent down to wipe the coffee on the floor a tiny velvet clad box fell out feom his pocket

In the midst of him whispering thanks to the other, Emu noticed the box but didn’t pay much attention to it as he rushed to a sink and started running cold water on his hand. “By the way, you dropped a thing.”

Kiriya looked up. He stood up and hugged Emu from behind and leant in to whispered in his ear.

“So you don’t remember how I did this?” he whispered letting his hands slide up Emu’s shirt

“H-hey now, not while in here!!!” Emu yelped and jerked away, ending up spilling hot coffee on his himself. “Ow, fuck!” He winced and shook his burning hand, the other hand trying to wipe up the mess with some tissues nearby.

Emu blinked, unamused as he dragged himself towards the coffee maker in the office. “Well, I only remember the memorable things,” He grumbled. “And all I can remember is videogames.”

Kazue laughed at his flustered state and lowered the gashat. “I’m a rather unassuming character, or, at least, I think I am.” She said with a small smile, her eyes darting down to his hands. “Would you like a wipe? I keep them around in case I drop candy onto the desks.”

She glanced down at it, smiling fondly. “Beta hell more like,” she said with a laugh. “I was just waiting until I could get my hands on it for good. Eventually, it came through.”

“Thanks so much,” Emu said as he tossed the candy away into a trash bin and took the wipes from Kazue. It’s not like there was much left anyway, and he’d rather not be seen eating that mess by his senior. 

Once his hands were clean of residue, he tossed those away as well and shook his hands dry before pulling his own gashat out. “Mighty Action X,” He read aloud, a proud smile on his face. “Classic and simple, but I like it. It gets the job done!”

Kazue smiled. “You hear a lot when you hang around the CR as much as I do.” She said, before a grin tugged at the corners of her lips. “Or if you’re around to hear Kagami.”

She chuckled and turned in her seat. “I heard you were too,” she said, facing her monitor as she grabbed something from it. “I guess it makes a lot of sense that the new person was, or is, me.”

Kazue spun her gashat around her finger once, twice, and stopped it by holding it firmly and up to the intern, wearing a smile. “I’m Ishikawa Kazue. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Emu’s lollipop nearly dropped to the floor along with his jaw, but thankfully his hands fumbled up to catch the candy. Though he did it rather ungracefully as he caught it by the wrong end. 

“Ah-- fuck!” He stuttered through short, quiet curses and held the sticky mess, his hands looking rather uncomfortable. “It’s, uh, nice to meet you too!” He’d have shaken her hand, but decided that wasn’t the best option right now. “I didn’t know you’d be the new rider!” 

He eyed the gashat, eyes widening. “Mysterious Dungeons! I was wondering what they’d do with that game. It seemed to be in beta forever!”
