Somewhere in Waterfall, a very loud roar can be heard, and shortly after, large tremors begin, shaking the ground violently.

Somewhere deep in Waterfall, an inky spider passes her time in a workshop, the whirr of machinery and grinding of gears fill the cave with noise, but until recently, those sounds were drowned by the deafening roar of a fight going on.

Not long after, Pocketbot hops inside, seemingly in a rush, followed by Protector. The robotic frog jumps in front of Prism, perching itself on her newest work in progress and communicating in beeps.

“Yes, yes, did you happen to get a read on the energy signatures? The magic used? Maybe whoever was in it?”

Pocketbot hums a familiar chime, communicating the name of the only familiar participant.

“Revak?” Prism shakes her head, exasperated. “What trouble did he get himself into now?”

The robot hums a low note before hanging its head down. Though Prism had only heard it a few times, she knew what it meant.

Danger.

That was all it took to send the ink running out in search of her friend.

Impulse nuzzles the spider affectionately unable to stop her own hissing. They may be off doing their own things sometimes but that didn’t make Impulse love Prism any less. She was just happy knowing they were there for each other and getting to spend moments like these together.

Okay, that was it. Prism can’t help but shower the other in kisses after hearing Impulse say that, beaming all the while.

She laughs sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck and smiling.

“I’m sorry, you’re just... too adorable.”

Prism, do you really have to apologize? You’re dating!

Well now Impulse’s face is tinted like a blueberry, you know what scratch that, it has become a blueberry. She hugs back a happy hiss bubbling up in the back of her throat. Nothing made Impulse happier in the hold wide world than getting to experience moments like these with Prism. No matter how cheesy it may be. 

> “It’s only perfect cause I was thinking of you the entire time I made it…. You don’t have to thank me though, seeing you happy.. that’s really all the thanks I need..”

> “I love you Prism.. More than I could ever say..”

The ink admits bashfully seemingly contemplating something for a moment, no.. she didn’t want to risk ruining the moment. Maybe she’d have the courage to later.

Now Prism was blushing up a storm.

“I love you too Impulse. More than anything else in the world. You’re amazing, and, well, I couldn’t ask for a better girlfriend. As long as I’m with you, I’m happy.”

It was all true. Impulse just had that effect on Prism, and all she could think about was how lucky she was to have found someone like Impulse.

> “I couldn’t possibly not like it. I can tell you put a lot of thought into it.. Now we’ll both always be together, even when we aren’t right next to each other. And the little ticking will make sure I never forget I’m not alone.” 

Impulse gushed with a grin before giving Prism a gentle kiss on the cheek in return. 

> “I made you something for Valentines Day too! I didn’t get enough time to box it like you and it took me a while to come up with something I thought you’d like.. But I think I did ok with some help..”

Nervously she moved her tail out of the way to show Prism what she’d been working on. A little sculpture, like one of those water fountain lights you could put on a desk. It depicted Waterfall, more specifically the day they met including little scenes like them at the junkyard, and towards the back them going through Snowdin. Primarily fashioned out of a combination of metal and stained glass.

> “I-I know you like inventing stuff and gadgets so I tried to make something that did stuff. I know I’m not near as good at this kind of thing but I hope you still like it!”

Prism couldn’t stop smiling, a side effect of being around Impulse. She looked on, curiously, as Impulse moved out of the way.

Her smile grew even wider as she saw the gift, reaching out slowly and carefully taking it in her hands.

“I-I love it. I mean, that’s where we first met, the junkyard and snowdin and....”

Tears well up in her eyes this time.

“It’s perfect, Impulse. You’re perfect. I-I just... thank you.”

Prism hugs her again because how could she not? Everything about the moment was perfect, it was almost too much to handle.

Which was incredibly cheesy but she loved Impulse so much.

Prism hugged Impulse back, relief washing over her as she did. Sure, she didn’t know how to best express her emotions, even when it came to Impulse, but she worked hard trying to find something that she could give the other that would possibly express how much Prism loved her. And Impulse liked it, she really liked it!

A soft chuckle escaped her lips. She was overjoyed.

“I’m so glad you like it, Impulse.”

Prism planted a soft kiss on her cheek.

Impulse carefully took the box. Even before she opened it she loved whatever was inside because she knew whatever it is would be full of love. Upon opening the nicely wrapped parcel with upmost care her face lit up with delight at the contents. She held it in her hands for a moment, just staring at the locket as her eyes teared up before putting it on and hugging her girlfriend tightly.

> “I’ll never take it off…”

Of course she did something special for Prism too but let’s wait for the moment of hugging to settle first.

“Yes... well, I hope I didn’t interrupt anything. I just wanted to wish you a happy Valentine’s day and uhh...”

She clears her throat and rubs the back of her neck a bit sheepishly.

“I wanted to give you this.”

Prism holds out the box that she hid behind her back. It was wrapped in red wrapping paper with little white hearts over it. Inside was a heart necklace, much like the one Impulse gave her, but the pendant was made of metal and had little ticking gears. At its center was a small vial with a single drop of ink.

“I-I figured... now we can match.”

In comes Prism very obviously holding something behind her back. Looks like someone's got the Valentine's day spirit! ~ @inverted-prism

The inky snake quickly conceals something using the trunk of her tail with an embarrassed expression.

> “O-Oh! H-Hey Prism! I didn’t know you were going to be stopping by!”
