Almost immediately, she could feel her heart pounding in her chest, the woman's eyes wide for a moment. "N-no! No, please, I'm sorry. I just....you're literally the difference keeping my mom alive and...and I didn't know what to do," She said, her voice trembling gently. "We can only afford her treatments because of you and miss Mary, I...I was wrong to question you, S-sir." She mumbled, her eyes now locking to the floor in resignation.
"H-honestly....I don't even care if the rumors are true. You've been nothing but kind, and so so very generous. Its just...she's not getting much better. I don't know what to do, so...so I'll just..." She let out a sigh, forcing herself to look up at him, ashamed she even had to ask the following of him.
"I...I need more money. I can quit my other jobs and work for you if that means earning even a bit more. I'll take literally anything at this rate, I just...I don't want to lose my mom, and you're my last hope." She murmured, clenching her seat tightly. "I'm sorry I doubted you. It won't happen again, Sir."
"Mija, please can we just breathe for a second? Talk to me, what's happening, Amor?" Cassandra followed Lexi around their small apartment, the Purple haired Latina running fingers through her scalp, all but pulling hair out.
"That lawyer was serious, Ama! They...he, fuck, he said I could be a criminal! I...I just wanted to pay for your treatments." Lexi spoke, pacing more, Cassandra confused.
"What? What are you talking about, Amor?"
"The-- the-- the fucking...the car rides! I met this lady and she was super nice, but her husband was the mayor or whatever--"
"Mayor Fisk?"
"Yeah! Yeah, him! He had me drive him a few times, but like, I mostly worked for his wife or whatever. Apparently, he's like... he's like some big-time narcos level crime, lord! This lawyer says I could be in huge trouble and and... Fuck!"
"Hey, hey let's calm down a second, mija. If...if this is about me being sick, I hear good things about--"
"Don't you say it..."
"But he can help."
"Nothing is free, Ama, nothing!"
"Mister Li seems like a sweetheart!"
"Mister Li can't be that fucking nice, Ama! Even if he is, what does that change? I stop working for Mister Fisk and what? People ignore I worked for him before? The lawyer knows!"
"Maybe you should just call him."
"Please, Ama, don't be ridiculous. He's busy."
"With crime?"
"With running the city! Christ, ama! L-look, I'll figure it out, ok? You just....you just go rest, ok, Ama? I...I need a minute."
"Hello?" Lexi began, her hands sweaty, her breathing quick. She prayed he couldn't hear it. Prayed she sounded normal. "Hi, hi! It's uhm, it's me, Lexi. Your wife's uhm, her driver! I gave you rides a few times and...L-look I know you said not to call," she spoke, taking a shakey breath.
"I...I just, I heard some... some nasty rumors. There's this person, some smart lawyer type. He... he said you were a criminal. I told him it was ridiculous, but he insisted, and as your worker, or sorts, I just felt like-- I felt like-- I felt like I had to tell you. We can meet up by your office if you want to talk about it, or whatever. I know I shouldn't have called, but... I... I had no idea what to do, Sir."

Lexi couldn't help but to laugh nervously as he spoke, taking his hand sheepishly. She had come here only to ease her own troubled mind, and not once had she thought twice. Now, standing in front of Wilson, she seemed to realize that may have been...selfish.
"W-what? No! No of course not! I mean...I would like to talk about that too...but uhm, I...we...uhm, we don't talk often!" She spoke, nervously taking a seat, her fingers tapping against the arm rest.
"How is Missus Mary? Is she well...? Uhm, she told me of a daughter you have! I didn't quite catch her name, but she spoke highly! Your family seems so very lovely, s-sir!" She spoke, finding her eyes darting around.
She seemed to be surveying the room, nervous beyond words, as if looking for anything to incriminate her own boss...or dispell the rumors so she could chew out Matthew for daring seed doubt in her mind.
"Uhm, I hope all is...good! Err, Well? I'm not, heh, I'm not sure what...word to use..." She spoke, her smile nervous, shakey. "W-why don't we uhm, we talk about you, hmm? What is Mister Fisk up to? Surely you have something cool you're interested in talking about!"
'Cool? Cool? What are you, a kid?! He's your boss, get it together, Lex!!'
"Mija, please can we just breathe for a second? Talk to me, what's happening, Amor?" Cassandra followed Lexi around their small apartment, the Purple haired Latina running fingers through her scalp, all but pulling hair out.

"9 sounds--" She began, silence meeting her on the other side. She pulled her phone away to find he'd hung up. "9's good." She mumbled to herself, tucking her phone away with a small sigh.
Maybe it was how quickly he had hung up, or how calm he had been, or the fact he knew about Matthew before she even said a word about him. She couldn't piece it together, but something made her feel just a bit off. She decided it best to bury the feeling, ignoring it for now as she instead prepared for tomorrow.
Trying to make herself look presentable, she took a few of her mothers clothes to make herself look not like a total crazed lunatic. She wore a simple black dress and heels, nothing like her usual clothes, but it made her feel just a bit more confident. Shutting the door of her car, she walked towards the town hall, standing a bit more straight as she walked inside.
"Hi, hello there. I'm Mister Fisk's... Chauffeur, Lexi. I uhm, I had a meeting with him at 9. Upstairs and...? Ok, ok thank you," She spoke gently, before heading upstairs to Fisks office. She gave a few gentle knocks at his door before opening it, a polite smile on her lips. "Hello, Sir! We spoke yesterday." She introduced herself, stepping inside meekly, closing the door behind her, standing nervously.
"Mija, please can we just breathe for a second? Talk to me, what's happening, Amor?" Cassandra followed Lexi around their small apartment, the Purple haired Latina running fingers through her scalp, all but pulling hair out.

The mention of her mom seemed to set her off, Lexi standing suddenly, slamming her hand onto the table. "Do not talk about my mother like you know her, like you know us." She began, voice trembling slightly, though much less than before. "You have no idea how hard it is, no idea! Every day, I kill myself working doubles, then hit the road and give rides for pennies because no one trusts the taxi that's breaking apart. I struggle, I nickel and dime everything to try desperately to make ends meet, but apparently, you suddenly know better. Mr. And Mrs. Fisk are wonderful people. They don't care how poor I am. They don't even care what I use the money for, not like those programs that say she's too high risk to give money to."
For a moment, she clenched her fist, rage consuming her for just a moment before she took a breath, sighing softly. "Even if he is a criminal, his money is just as good as anyone else's. I'm sorry to have wasted your time, Mister Murdock. Really, I am, but I'm not going to let you just talk down the only people who have helped me when New York turned it back on me."
Straightening her wrinkled outfit a bit, she didn't even offer a wave, turning to leave in a huff.
Cool autumn wind blows gently through the streets of New York, papers blowing in the wind. Lexi walks calmly, wearing her best outfit; a cheap pair of heels, a white fitted shirt, a black pencil skirt that hugged her hips, and a black belt to try and tie it all together. It was just her old outfit from when she was a secretary, but she couldn't think of anything better, anything more fitting for a serious meeting.
She clutched a crappy off-brand purse, heart pounding as she walked. In her other hand was the business card, Lexi thumbing it gently, nervous. Just the mention of the name "Fisk" had made that man nervous...what in the world had she done?
'Just calm down, breathe, Lex, breathe. You didn't do anything wrong...probably. is this the...well...yeah that's looks like it.'
She carefully opened the door, stepping inside and closing the door behind her, fidgeting with the card a bit.
"Excuse-- excuse me? I'm, uhm, I'm Alexis? Lexi? I...shit...uhm, I was told to meet someone here?" She spoke softly, peeking around carefully, eyes darting around. She was used to sketchy parts of town, but Hell's kitchen?
As someone approached, Lexi all but jumped out of her skin, flinching in surprise. "H-hi! Sorry, I'm, uhm, I'm a bit nervous is all..."

The silence that followed was deafening. You could hear a pin drop, or her heart pounding. The color drained from her face, a nervous chuckle coming from her.
"Wha--what did you...say? You're, uhm, you're kidding, right? He...he seems kind of nice. A-and besides, he's the mayor, he can't....he..." She looked as if she could pass out at any second, swallowing hard as a knot formed in her belly.
"I...I needed the money. My mom's sick, I can't just...I can't just stop now."

Taking a small sip, she took a second to calm down, her hands still shaking on the cup. "I was doing like, uhm, Ubers and the like. That's when I found Miss Fisk and gave her a ride. She kept calling for more, and they paid so well, I never really said no. Eventually, she brought her husband along, the uhm, the mayor, or something? I think it was a date," She mumbled, looking around, still nervous.
"Then he started calling too, and he paid more. Sometimes, it was just around to like a rally or something. Other times, he'd call me late at night, but his wife did that, too." She answered, having to stop a few times to breathe.
Looking over to the lawyer, she swallowed hard before asking, "Is that bad? Like...will I get in trouble for that? I never asked what either of them did, I just did it." She took another sip. "Is that guy, Mister Fisk, is he a bad person? He seemed kind of nice. Maybe a bit blunt but he never like, yelled at me or anything..."

She sits when instructed, a bit faster than she anticipated, her hands cupped together as she tries to stop herself from shaking so much.
"Hmm? O-oh...a water would be great, please," She answers, voice tiny, and only then does she realize just how dry her throat feels. Part of her tries to reason she shouldn't be terrified, the other part, it can't help but think she did something wrong.
'She gave me so much money. It was...it was for mom. How could helping someone you love be wrong? Was Franky right? Was that lady a criminal? Was her husband a criminal? I thought he was the mayor, though. I though--'
Her heart pounded rapidly in her chest, breathing a bit more strained than she had thought, her hands shakily reaching for the water.
"Thank you," She mumbles, quiet, taking a slow, sharp breath. "Where...where do we start...?"

//OOC Lore stuff? Having Lexi work at the bakery and help her mother fight cancer is one thing, but I'm always thinking about what to do after.
//I eventually would like Lexi to maybe have powers so she can interact with more people, or introduce a romance plot since I love fluff so much, but I have no idea what to do. If you're interested in writing, please shoot a DM! I'm at a loss and could use inspiration.

The way the color drains from his body earns a small, nervous chuckle from Lexi, who plays with her apron gently. "U-uhm...yeah...You sound really serious. Is it...bad?" She asks gently, pinching and rolling the apron between her fingers, heart skipping a beat. She seems panic rising in her chest, and a thought fills her mind.
'Oh God, I'm going to be in so much trouble.'
She takes business card, letting her fingers run over the material, as if trying to ground herself, taking a small breath she didn't realize she was holding.
"Hells kitchen? I...yeah, ok, I'll uhm, I'll come down sometime. Thank you Mister," She pauses, looking down at the card, her hand shaking as she holds it. "Mister Murdock." She finishes, stashing it away in her pocket, the business card burning, as If she's done something wrong.
She doesn't have much time to ponder it as more people come on, another rush, one that forces her attention away. The young woman is so enraptured by work that she fails to see the lawyer leave, but now she has a new task; praying to God, she hasn't done anything horrific yet.
"You got this, Lex! I'll be just a call away, I promise," Franky gently spoke, gently and playfully bumping Lexi, who looked serious as the dead.
"Franky, I swear I won't fuck this up. I swear." She spoke, eyes resolute, Franky snorting.
"Jesus, Girly, it's just a single day. I'm just going on a date, you can call me if you--"
"No! No...you need some time off, Franky. Besides, I'm getting overtime anyways, now shoo! Your man isn't gonna wait forever!" She huffed, Franky laughing.
"Oh baby, he will." He assured playfully, Heading out of the shop, flipping the "Closed" sign to "Open", Lexi shuddering. Truth be told, she wasn't fully ready to run the bakery on her own.
She placed both hands on the counter, head hung low as she took in a shakey breath. "Come on...come on calm down...momma needs her medicine...just..." She spoke, the bell above the door jingling as a customer walked in, Lexi immediately shooting up, Putting on her best smile.
"Welcome to Starks Sweets! What can I get for you?" She asked quietly, her hands still a bit shakey, but determined to do her best.

The gentle hum of the coffee machine was drowned out as a few people came in, Lexi greeting them by name, working as fast as her legs could possibly carry. When the machine gave a small "Ding!", she rushed over, grabbing the cup, before all but flying over the counter.
"Here you are. Wait, lawyer? Hmm...I--i may need one. Hold on, I've got..." She rushed back over to the cash register, more comfortable now, in her element as a few more people came in. She seemed to thrive in the chaos, but was careful to greet every person like family.
Only after she quickly wrapped up did she come back, letting out a sigh. "Goodness me. Where were we? Mm, oh! Yeah! I may have uhm, gotten a bit involved with someone. A lady...my coworker says she's married to some Fisk fellow, I don't know. I'm not doing anything illegal just driving her places? Or...or is this like, complicated? Should we set up a meeting? I, oh dear," her nerves seemed to take over again now that the rush dissipated. From calm and cool, to nervous and stuttering once more.
"Can we start over? I'm Lexi. Uhm...I have a lot on my mind, sorry..."
"You got this, Lex! I'll be just a call away, I promise," Franky gently spoke, gently and playfully bumping Lexi, who looked serious as the dead.

She calmly bagged his chosen desserts, gently humming, handing over the change and treats. "You're dressed really nice, especially for such a sketchy area. What do you do for work?" She asked, scooping a bit of coffee, preparing the puck. "Anything important, or just going out in a date? Oh, any cream or sugar?" She asked calmly, each step she took like a dance, flowing behind the counter like a leaf through wind.

Lexi watches the man, still nervous and on edge, but something about how well dressed and calm he is makes her relax a touch. She watches him set the cane aside, almost confused as he sets down the five. "Hmm? Oh, yes, it is! You couldn't tell?" She asks for a moment, before seemingly realizing it wasn't exactly a smart question.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to uhm, to question you. Let's see...uhm, if you're having a bit of trouble seeing, I can just grab you a few random sweets! A Croissant, a Chonca, a small flat bread shaped like a pig, and a glazed donut.
"Let's see, uhm, I have a Croissant, Franky's specialty, a piggy that my mom loves, and some other random stuff. That's uhm, $4.70! Sorry for, uhm...assuming," She mumbled, her breathing a bit faster than expected, her hands fumbling with the coins as she grabbed a quarter and a nickel. "Would you like a coffee? On me of course, I-- I feel bad about...you know... would you like them for here or to go, sir?"

//OOC; Yes, admin is still alive, I just kind of don't love the formatting of Tumblr for RP. I still miss my friends though, so I may just suck it up, you guys were pretty freaking cool.
