iPhoneographer of the Week - Daniele Martire | @MD_photography

I have long since admired Daniele Martire’s work. He loves to capture people and things in a non traditional ways, sometimes adding a clever typographical message. Daniele does a great job of sticking to what he knows best, that being the lomo and analog look that his Helga gives him. Look out for Daniele in the near future as he will be producing two exhibitions perhaps, dedicating one to his mobile photography. (in dreams begin responsibilities) And now Daniele in his own words….

One of the major complaints that most jailbreakers have since the inception of jailbreaking itself has been a tie between two things: the system slows down, and the battery life drains more quickly. Well, Supercharged 1.3.1 is here to fix half of that. This little tweak will completely change the way your iDevice performs. It was designed for the iPhone 3G/below, and the iPod 2G/below, but it still functions superbly on the iPhone 3G[s] and the iPod G3. This application is so exclusive that it isn’t even available on Cydia....

At the new price, customers will save $100 on Apple's smart phone, which currently sells for $199. The deal requires that the phone be purchased with a two-year contract from AT&T, the iPhone's exclusive service provider.
"It is our commitment to always lead on price," Mehrdad Akbar, Wal-Mart's (WMT, Fortune 500) senior category director for wireless, in a prepared statement about the price change...

RecBoot is a free utility for Windows and Mac users which allow you to put your iPhone / iPod Touch in recovery mode easily. Its a great utility for for those iPhone users who's iPhone Home or Sleep/Wake button is not fully functional. Moreover this utility saves you from learning the 3-4 steps of putting your iPhone into recovery mode manually. Normally you need to put your iPhone into recovery mode when your want to do a firmware restore.

First things first… Although this port does everything that you expect your smartphone to be able to do, it isn’t usable for day-to-day activities just yet–I haven’t implemented any power-management functions, so a fully charged iPhone running Android will last only an hour or so. A few bugs and performance issues remain, too, so while the phone will be usable, it won’t be fast. If you do something unexpected (such as forcing the iPhone off), there is a small chance that you may end up restoring your device. However, it is impossible for any bugs to brick or disable your iPhone permanently. Finally, media syncing is not working, so loading your media onto your phone is kind of a pain. I’m working as hard as I can, though, and I expect to fix these issues soon.

This is a proof-of-concept project to show it's possible to create iPhoneOS Safari plugins. The code structure is pretty much exactly the same as a Safari plugin on the desktop except it uses UIView instead of NSView. If you build and install this plugin, your browser will report itself Flash capable and show a red dummy view wherever you come across Flash content in any browser using the system WebKit.

Gameloft have brought the latest game in the Splinter Cell saga 'Conviction' to the iPhone, giving gamers a chance to follow the story of super agent Sam Fisher in this intense action-stealth title.
Conviction has brought the series back from a strong stealth-oriented system that makes Fisher more of a stealthy action hero than a deadly ninja. This has simplified the controls immensely, requiring only the analogue stick to automatically transition between fast and stealthy movement and several multi-purpose buttons to jump between cover or fire your weapons. The cover system takes some time to truly master as a limited amount of objects can be used and transitioning between moving, aiming and firing can be awkward while in the thick of a battle...

Everything is basically done and all the code I have is in the source repositories so people are free to build it for themselves. However, I wanted to improve the packaging slightly to ease installation (no longer requiring people to modify ext2 partitions). The release of the binaries (and a how-to) will be sometime within the next week. The binaries will have more features than the iPhone 3G demo showed: It will have full calling and sound support. The code for that (and everything else) is already finished and is in my github if you would like to check it out.

After just a couple more weeks of work, we've made tremendous progress and brought Android to the iPhone 3G. Although this port is slightly more rough than the previous Android on first-generation iPhone port, this marks an important milestone for the more DIY-minded owners of the millions of iPhone 3G devices that are out there...
