just thought of this while thinking about Bonding earrings.

So the new headcanon is that every family has their own earring design, kinda like bonding earrings but instead they symbolize what family you belong to. The inheritance of these can be matrilineal (child wears earring of their mothers family), or patrilineal (child wears earring of their fathers family).

Children are generally given earrings from both their parents’ families, and can choose which parents earring they want to wear at any time.

They also don’t have to wear their parents earrings unless they want to, and normally they only wear them for special occasions like graduations, parties, festivals, and family gatherings.

Each family only has one earring so that both Bonding and family earrings can be worn at the same time (I forget but if each person has two bonding earrings then they’d just wear the bonding earring that represents their partner.)

Oh, and the reason why we haven’t seen any of these earrings yet? Well, aside from the fact that they don’t normally need to be worn, none of the party from Vaugarde has a good relationship with their parents, so they don’t want to wear their family earrings.

Some forgotten Island HCs I've been thinking about for awhile

Their culture being so heavily related to the stars originating from being a seafaring country, they relied on them to navigate and guide them

Learning how to follow the Universe is often compared to learning how to follow the waves of the ocean and work with the breeze to safely get where you need to go

People there often traveled to other countries, from their love of sailing the sea, learning more about how the universe works from around the world, and the extra bonus of their cloaks keeping them comfortable no matter the climate of where they visit

Children learn at a young age how to calm themselves and meditate to help connect with the Universe and to focus on their wishes

When they're real little, their family will either hand sew a cloak or go to a special tailor for their children that they can wear and keep for the rest of their lives

Most have a simple base design to add onto and accessorize, though some will have a more detailed cloak. It's relatively uncommon to see them without either their cloak or hat when out and about, usually only taken of when swimming, at home, or on special occasions.

The country is considered practically nocturnal as most of it's citizens will spend the nights awake to watch the stars, wether navigating the ocean or studying the stars. Most stores and buildings are open throughout the night and closed in the morning and afternoon, especially the further inland you go. It's people are often known to have good night vision but are easily blinded by the sunny sky

The nocturnal part reminds me of this one fanfic...I think it was part of The Play is Over, but the Script Remains collection on AO3? Bambouche had an entire night district as a result of being close to the island and they used to have many visitors from there, if I recall correctly. I recommend the series a lot btw, it has great writing.

There are different rituals for different types of wishes! For example, a ritual like what Siffrin did at the favor tree would be for large scale wishes. Or there's one I made up for my fanfic that's specifically for wishing for different appearances.

Also I know I'm not the first one to say this but the secret fourth hand sign could also be wish craft - they literally say "boy, I WISH I could talk to Loop rn!" and perform a particular hand sign. Within my headcanon, I think this ritual is only used for this one specific wish, and isn't a preexisting one; I think Loop made it up.

And I think the reason Loop was able to successfully make up an entirely new ritual for wish craft is because they were born of a wish; they exist because of a wish they made.

(I have so many headcanons about wish craft lol, mostly because I'm writing a fic centered around the idea of wish craft)

Guess who's back again! This time I wanna talk about Bonnie (+ Siffrin in how they interact with Bonnie and such)

Potentially sensitive topics: alcohol mention, mention of running away from home, mentions of children not being as well-supervised as they probably should be (I think that's all of them)

I feel like Bonnie likes hanging out with Siffrin a lot (when they're not overcome with guilt like in the game). Bonnie gets a lot more freedom when around Siffrin, which leads into the fact that-

-Bonnie definitely hasn't had a normal childhood, even before this. They probably are used to having more autonomy and independence than most kids at this age, and has for a long time. I'd bet on that because Nille is probably busy trying to keep food on the table and keep everything afloat. She might not have time to do all the normal parenting things as well. Not to mention the whole "ran away from home" thing.

Anyway, lightning round, go!

Bonnie probably got some bruises and scrapes by doing things Siffrin permitted at least five times.

Bonnie definitely learned how to start a fire after promising to not do it in front of the rest of the party (they didn't want Bonnie getting burned) or anywhere anything unintended might catch on fire.

Siffrin definitely was a bit TOO relaxed with how much they let Bonnie do, but as another semi-feral child, he didn't really know any better. No one taught him what a "normal" childhood looks like or what is considered "safe" for a child.

This is also because Siffrin loves being the "cool adult" for Bonnie and is maybe a bit permissive when trying to make people like them.

And maybe also because he knows HE didn't listen to authority figures who tried to control everything but DID listen to the ones who rarely said no and realized if THEY don't do it, no one in the group will.

The "Oh this is definitely alcohol and yeah you can have some" incident was DEFINITELY not the only time something like that happened. I'd bet it happened at least ten times over the course of the adventure. It doesn't STOP happening either.
