when I was a kid I had a debilitating fear of spiders, and I’d get my dad to kill them. but eventually I realized that that wasn’t in line with my values and only made me more scared. now there’s still some fear, but my commitment to protecting life is stronger than my fear
this isn’t necessarily a metaphor for anything bigger, I was just thinking about it

"But you used to be this, you used to be that."
Yeah, and I used to be so miserable within my own life and the world that consumed it. I used to feel that the only way to be loved was to compromise who I was, what I wanted and needed. I used to wake up every day feeling as though I only existed for what I could provide out of my own comfort zone. I used to hide in cowardice instead of speak up for myself and many things I believed in.
And most of all, I used to let all of these things pile upon me until I only existed outside my own mind as a mask that was created by what others wanted me to be.
I didn't actually used to be such a different person at all. It's just that you never liked who I actually was.
#and i USED to think those people loved me#and it's WILD to me that people have the audacity to complain about someone not compromising themselves for them anymore#and i have never been more loved than when i started being fully and vibrantly exactly who i am#I'm spicy tonight

One time a guy came up behind me at a little party event and grabbed my ass and my instant response was to turn to look at him and say "you're a disappointment."
And idk why that worked, but I've never seen a creep question everything so fast.

I constantly see "to be known is to be loved" used with the cute things. Like remembering your favourite colour, or how you like your tea.
But lately I've been processing just how wide of a scope that really is.
To be known is to have your friends prepare a towel and time for you to shower because they know you get the big ick and can't sleep without that. To be known is to have a friend ask if you have spare chapstick they can keep because you mentioned exactly once that you have kept it on you constantly since you were twelve. To be known is to have a friend go out hunting for lemonade for you because they somehow know that will help your spiral, and bring back multiple options. To be known is to have a friend make a friendship bracelet for your plushie instead of you. To be known is to see your friend leave an even count of something because they know how you feel about odd numbers. To be known is to be reassured without prompt because they know how your brain spirals out.
To be known, loved, has such a wide scope beyond favours, or simply knowing your tastes. To be known within all your cracks and folds and have them treated as features rather than inconvenience, that's the loudest way I've ever been loved.
#last week i was known and loved so vividly that I'm still struggling to process just how LOUDLY I'm loved by so many incredible humans#and all i can ever hope is that my love is just as loud in return

Bug when you decide to describe someone sliding their fingers between our toes:

My favourite part of a tNC set is when Matt interrupts their own song to go on a monologue describing their personal ao3 fanfic smut about cthulhu that's 3x as long as the song itself, just to get us to scream about swallowing balls even louder

Calmly muting the call with my peacefully sleeping best friend, stepping away to scream into a pillow for five minutes until my lungs break, then calmly putting my headset back on to gently ensure I didn't accidentally wake him
