the AMV that I first saw when I was 12 that not only introduced me to Jason (besides the Teen Titans Red X name drops), but also led me to watching UTRH, which instantly became one of my favourite DC movies and made him one of my favourite characters

Time of Dying just fits him so well; his unofficial theme song for me, I literally think of Red Hood every time I listen to it

ToD is also just really fun to play on guitar; might be my favourite song I can play (it’s between this and Bring Me to Life)

Jason Todd appreciation post in light of *gestures vaguely* everything happening with the character rn

on one hand, I really like that Jason is getting his own city and is getting away from Batman in this new run

on the other hand, I don���t like that they’re just second handing another Dick Grayson love interest to Jason, and not shipping him with Rose Wilson - even if Red Hood and Huntress’ dynamic does sound like it’d be interesting … the new look is also not doing it for me at all

but it can’t be worse than H2SH, and classist Alfred in Robin and Batman…

As far as changing characters' personalities goes, Marvel only got it right with Karen Page. Because I don't like the whole porn star-addict thing. A thousand points for the MCU just for this one.

Stephanie Brown is genuinely one of my favourite characters - her story is so sad and frustrates me so much, but she perseveres through it and manages to hold her own as that unlikely member of the Batfamily

Spoiler deserves so much better, both in-universe and IRL as a written character (after everything from her childhood, they really had to make her go through War Games and Tim ghosting her for a year?)

and TimSteph is one of the best ships, they are perfect for each other … never forget what they took away from us

H2SH would make more sense if it came out like 15 to 20 years ago, right after UTRH, y’know back when Jason just came back and was a crime boss and didn’t have YEARS of moments working together with the Batfamily where suddenly NOW there’s a concern that he may have brain damage, and NOW he’s not trusting them … bc of fucking Hush?

it would also just make so much more sense that the sequel to Hush doesn’t take place after Hush has already had other arcs dedicated to him (like Heart of Hush)

like the idea of Jason Todd coming back and having brain damage is interesting and worth exploring - he was beaten with a crowbar and blown up, and the Lazarus Pit is known to cause psychosis upon return - it would be a good way to delve into Jason’s character and maybe give him and his relationship with the Batfamily some positive development as they deal with it … but why is it taking place in the present, and why are they doing it like this?

*sigh*

just another case of a poorly written Batfamily dynamic (fuck you Gotham War)

I remember having this moment of clarity when i was a kid that when I didn’t like a villain but enjoyed seeing them, it meant that I actually did like them

like whenever I watched an episode of The Batman, and like Joker, Catwoman, or Riddler (yea I liked Marilyn Manson Riddler) showed up, or that one Black Mask episode was on, I’d be happy, but whenever that fucking Maxie Zeus episode was on, I’d be so underwhelmed

bc like who the fuck likes Maxie Zeus

Maxie Zeus sounds like the username of an 8 year old who just read Percy Jackson for the first time and got hyperfixated on Greek mythology

if his character name was Maximillian Zeus then he’d be so much more interesting, like Maximillian Zeus has some gravitas to it, like that is final boss energy

rewatched Justice League: The New Frontier, and the whole vibe of this movie just makes me that much more excited for Fantastic Four: First Steps

retro-futuristic Fantastic Four has been my dream F4 movie for YEARS (bc The Incredibles is perfect) and the fact that it’s happening still blows my mind, it’s like I manifested this

also I was caught so off guard when Kyle McLachlan’s name appeared in the opening credits 😭😭😭 his voice is actually perfect for Superman
