“Miss! Miss! Excuse me, miss.” The giant armored teen runs towards the figure in question, “I think you’ve dropped your wallet, miss.” holding the object out of his palm for the other to take, “I saw it slip out of your bag.” 

“Oh!” Layla took the wallet and looked it over real quick as if to be sure it was hers.

Sure enough, it had fallen out again... It was a little embarrassing to say the very least, but at least someone had found it before she got to far. She made sure to secure the wallet a little bit better in her purse before smiling at the teen in the armor.

“Thank you so much!”

She couldn’t help being curious though. He sounded like he’d be closer to her age, but it was surprising to think he’d be tall enough to fit in such armor. Actually just the fact he was wearing the armor around like this was pretty odd.

“Is it alright if I ask why you’re wearing all that armor? Doesn’t it get pretty heavy?” she asked, hoping that she didn’t sound rude.

Quick Update

Sorry for the delay. I really meant to be back sooner, like I mentioned in my last post. I hadn’t taken into account that it was almost October and that Drawtober would wear me out. Then November ended up being extremely stressful, especially since the tablet I’ve been using started to have issues. Thankfully, that’s finally been solved. But all of that has been really draining and that made it difficult to come online. Because of the tablet issue, I’m behind on a few projects I need to get done, so I’m not back yet. However, if all goes well, I hope to be back by mid to late December, January being the latest. Thank you to everyone who’s been patient with me.

Update

Hey everyone! Sorry it’s been so quiet over here for the past few weeks! I’m hoping to be back soon, but since it’s been taking so long, I just wanted to take a moment to be transparent about what’s up. (Medication mention and mental health tw under the cut)

So, I’ve never been shy about discussing my mental health or medication on here and that’s because it really does tend to affect my activity a lot of the time. So, last time I was online I was in the middle of working on switching anxiety medication. It was fine initially because I had been taking half of my original prescription for a while, so even though I was preparing to go to half of that before officially making the switch, I thought I could still handle setting up the side blogs and getting them moving too. Well, that dose was literally the lowest I’ve been on in years. It was about a quarter of what I was originally taking and the blogs became a little overwhelming again.

So, now I’m on the new medication, but I’m still not entirely sure of how much of a difference it’s making. I guess it’s closer to where I was before the lowest dose, but I’m still just making sure there aren’t any negative side effects to it before I really return. Hopefully I can myself situated to come back sometime next week, but I don’t want to say that’s a guarantee.

In addition to the new anxiety meds, my psychiatrist and I have decided to up my adderall slightly and that seems to help too. I’m running low though, so I may not get to too many replies till it’s refilled. I’m hoping to have this done sooner rather than later since I need to get in touch with my psychiatrist about the new medication anyways. Hopefully I’ll be back to rp more with everyone soon!

 She rubbed the back of her head as she stood up. She hadn't been expecting someone to push her out of the way like that. More importantly though, she didn't mean to worry anyone. 

"Oh yeah, I'm fine," she smiled. 

She was pretty sure she was, but then again, her head did kind of hurt... Well, as long as she could keep herself up though, that should mean she's fine right? Either way though... "I'm really sorry for worrying you."

Oh wait a second! She looked about her age! Maybe this was a chance for a friend.

"I'm Layla by the way," she offered a smile.

“I suspected you were from Ishval as well come then do not be afraid to stay beside my side, Layla.” James spoke putting out his hand in such a fatherly manner. Gentle and kind. “Do you like cakes? I believe there is a lovely cake shop nearby here. I heard they make the most loveliest of cakes here.” He said waiting for the others response. 

Yeah, it made sense that he could figure out she was from Ishval. Her white hair and red eyes did often leave an impression on others. Despite how scary he seemed fighting off those officers, she could feel a warmth in his voice as he spoke to her. The way he held out his hand even. Yes, it reminded her a little of her parents a lot. She smiled a little as she took his hand, thinking of her own father’s kindness and how he would try to comfort her when she’d cry back then. She really missed them a lot...

“Thank you. That honestly sounds great.”

She didn’t know what she had done to deserve such kindness, but she was certainly grateful for it.

“Zhilan Liu. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Layla.” She gave a small bow and her companion followed suit, “My guard here is Mao.”

If she were alone, she never would have even considered following Layla, but with her guard, she had no fear. She knew Mao would keep her safe no matter what. “Go ahead and lead the way, I trust my guard’s abilities.”

So she was from Xing. It was a little bit of a relief to know she was correct in her assumption and that she wasn’t just stereotyping the other girl, Zhilan. Layla gave a bow back to the two.

“My sister’s fiance is from Xing, so I’ve heard a little bit about the conflicts there.”

A guard? She must have been really important. Still, Layla wasn’t too worried about him. She knew her intentions were innocent and neither seemed to hold her Ishvalan blood against her.

She guided the way, and a little past her home was a more abandon building. Yasmin didn’t seem fond of the idea of Layla going there, but Layla had felt she had been by there enough times that she knew the layout pretty well. Plus, she knew it tended to be quieter spot.

“Here we go,” Layla spoke once they had arrived. “Not the nicest looking place, but I never see anyone around here.”

With one of Layla’s threads leading her to study automail under the Doc at Briggs, I figured Yasmin wouldn’t want her to go alone after Layla manages to convince her to go in the first place. I’m sure with Yasmin being as protective as she is, initially wanted to travel with Layla, but I can also see Layla wanting to take the opportunity to try and gain her own independence. Rather than letting Layla go completely alone, Yasmin and Zhen got her a little pet, a little black cat named Charcoal, also known as Char.

I could see Layla liking cats and dogs pretty equally, but what really made go with the black cat is just the superstitions about them. Black cats are said to be bad luck, but I can’t imagine Layla buying into that. I just see her really wanting to adopt one and give it a good home.

Anyone who’s checked out @spitballalchemist​‘s blog might have noticed on his muse page, his OC Silvano has a pet rabbit named Moose. I decided to try and practice some animal drawing today and did a drawing of Moose for my brother. Really happy with how he came out and I wanted to share the end result.

While Ky and I were chatting over Discord, we came to the conclusion that honorary Briggs member, Moose, got his rank of general while the Briggs crew were drunk one night. Olivier allows them their fun, but they all know that they are in big trouble if they try to insinuate that Moose is somehow the Briggs commander. It costs 100 cen to pet him and his favorite treat is bananas.

Have to finish up the page I’m working on for my friend’s comic today and keep my schedule going, but I feel like I should work on promos for this blog, @mcmmyfearest, and @ncvcralone. I also want to update the @recklessvix promo as well. I like the promo I have for Olivier’s blog though, so I won’t worry about that one too much right now. Though, the ones without promos are probably the top priorities. This will all be after I’m done working though. If I don’t keep my schedule, I know I’ll fall behind on it again. DX Also have to work on my google docs pages and I want to work on the theme for Layla’s blog. So much I want to get done, but I need to remember to take this one step at a time.

I might switch over to mobile pretty soon, getting a little tired. May or may not doodle some sketch ideas for Layla’s winter/northern wear before bed. If I get anything good going, I’ll definitely share.

Thank you! It took a few preliminary sketches before I finally got something I wanted to work with. I’m just glad it was worth it in the end. Poor Layla probably would have preferred I not put her through Ishval memories again, buuuuut too late for that.

Dmitri thinks Layla seems like a friendly girl. He'd like to get to know her better. Her white hair and red eyes are interesting, but he's seen weirder things in the land of the Fae 🐺

Aww, that’s sweet! She’s proud of her Ishvalan features, so it certainly makes her happy when others aren’t judging her for them.
