#masada In 66 AD, a group of Sikriim under the command of Menachem ben Yehuda the Galilean raided Masada, and took control of the weapons warehouses that had been here since Herod's time. The fort was then held by a small Roman garrison. The Sicari returned to Jerusalem. Menachem ben Yehuda, or Yehuda's grandson, killed Hananiah, who was a retired high priest, because he thought that Hananiah was collaborating with the Romans. As a reward for his actions, Hananiah's friends stabbed Menachem. Ben Yehuda and killed him. The Sikriim fled from Jerusalem, returned to Masada, and held it from 66 to 74. The commander of the Sikriim in Masada was Elazar ben Yair. According to Josephus, the Sikris did not actually participate in the rebellion.

"The Reef Palace" during the Herod period, the "Cliff Palace" during the time of the commissioners. It was surrounded by a mighty protective wall against the winter storms. To the north - the remains of the pier from Herod's time.
In the palace - a restored stylobate.
A well on the beach - the water is sweet above the intermediate face.
In Shonit - a peristyle courtyard.
The pier line - the anchorage in Herod's time reached here. The longitudinal axis of the port was 800 meters.
