Dad. 💐 Grieving you has always been painful Honoring you has been such a lonely journey And for the heavy personal & professional price just to be with you during those final moments, it is still and always will be worth it. What I won’t do to hear you shout “Coco come over here” so I can enthusiastically hop on your lap; or on the latest Kawasaki motorbike (I’m still not telling my mom 🤫)🏍; or shotgun in one of your Jaguar coupes (the two-door was my fave)! Remember when you came with the Jeep Wrangler (open top) to @PresecAlumni Boarding School so everyone could see you with your boy… Just me and you. Against the whole wide ewiase (world 🌍) #GamorLegacy Maybe one of these days you will come visit again, just maybe… 💕We will talk about the million and one entrepreneurial ideas we have that should work to help other people. Spark Joy ✨ Consistently Just out of college and a volunteer photographer for @yap.dc, I received a call to take pictures of a Kua event in DC, circa 2010. @itp85 #itp85 #OverADecadeAgo @theafricanruby was showcasing lovely bags and the my friends from the YAP crew were showing up and showing out to support. The only snag, the event was going to be hosted the same day as my mom, Muriel’s birthday in September. The @kuadesigns website then (circa 2010) spoke about the brand named after Ruby’s own mom and I remember the gallery showcasing intricate handmade bags beautifully photographed on a clothing line! 🤩 The creativity alone, ala! See the current banner photo 📸 for v2 of this. Gratefully, Muriel agreed to my plan to a birthday date in DC prior to, so I could swing by and take pictures of event for Ruby as well. Over the years, and it’s been over a decade since, I have been consistently following up and buying from Kua’s first, second and now third shop location move in Accra, to the jewelry and children’s clothes. #GhanaToTheWorld Every time I see a post from Ruby’s prolific FB page or Kua’s growing cultural brand influence, it reminds me of the joy I felt seeing Ghanaian ingenuity creativity, the beautifully brilliant people she introduced me to that day.
