The Gods are inherently disturbing.

What I mean is, they do not do things that humans do. They do not act like something we have ever seen before.

I want to dispel the notion that everything you do with the Gods and see of the Gods is pleasant and comfortable. If you see the Gods as inherently human, you are putting a bias on them that gets in the way of your discernment.

The quality of interactions with the Divine is to strip you from the need of complacency and repetition. Humans are used to the comforts of their every day cycles but the Gods are not human and that is something people need to get used to. They don’t function with our morals or societal requirements. They don’t pretend to fit in to our everyday customs. To be aware of the Gods is to be aware of things beyond our control and of our habits and being. To think otherwise is to be afraid of them and thus you are closed off.

Reconsider where you stand on this because it’s important if you want to have a solid relationship with Them. They aren’t who you expect and They never will be. They aren’t who you find people talking about online. They aren’t comfortable. And They will never be human.

Being comfortable with the discomfort is more important than assuming that you need to fear it. You can fear the Gods while also knowing that They aren’t trying to hurt you. Two things can be true at once.

Learning to not fear Them by assuming They are like us is reductive.

Someone somewhere out there is having their perception of the world irreparably shattered by the knowledge that magic is real, and at the other side is a team of doctors who have to roll their eyes and pull out Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales because some high school kid tried to go Carrie with a cheap spellbook and turn all the kids at prom into frogs, and the doctors have to wrangle a couple dozen teenagers into admitting if they have a true love who can break the spell.
