modern au where after being disowned and shipped off to live with his uncle, zuko creates a tumblr account. he unknowingly becomes mutuals with azula through their shared love of kung fu movies and the two of them hit it off, sharing secrets that they could never share with anyone who knew them irl, least of all each other, hearing each other out on their daddy and mommy issues without the urge to defend their parents kicking in, their strained relationships with their sibling, etc.

azula eventually (probably fairly quickly) figures out that she's talking to zuko and listening to him tell her how much he hates her, but instead of blocking him or telling him, she keeps talking to him while omitting their relation. she tells herself that she's only entertaining this because it amuses her and mai and ty lee will find it so funny when she tells them and maybe one day she'll even get to reveal it to zuko and hurt him by telling him she knew the entire time and found him so stupid and whiny the whole time.

but she doesn't want to laugh at him alone or make fun of him with her friends or hurt him with this. not really. she can't do it because for the first time ever, her brother likes her and wants to talk to her and spend time with her and listens to her when she says she feels unloved and cares about her.

eventually, the truth comes out, and zuko assumes azula was laughing at him the whole time, and she's forced to admit that she cares about her brother and she's happy that they've mended their relationship after all this time, even if it was on accident.
