Need this reminder again and again.
btw everyone who has survived the Tumblr Muslim era and are still active here. AssalamuAlaikum and Hows life?
Back when I used to post Islamic stuff and preach the stuff at home, I was really being selfish. It looked good and I felt I was trying to get everyone to become more religious. Fast forward 10 years and I understand the perspectives of others. Its really difficult to find external motivation to be a good muslim.
It's only in times of hardship that we really connect with Allah. It's unfortunate and it should not be like this but really the khushoo we have in our duas when we badly need his help is not found in times of peace and happiness.
Also, I've realized that the company really matters. You don't need someone to constantly throw hadith and ayats at you. You just need someone that understands your state and just gently guides you when you fall behind.
To whoever reading this and is at low state of Iman. I understand what you are going through and its okay if you are not in the best headspace as a muslim but know that having this feeling and realization of having low iman, is a sign that you've Iman.
May Allah ease it for all of us.

i feel like one of the biggest struggles of adulthood is finding that balance between submitting completely to divine decree while also mobilizing your faith to stay empowered. the balance between doing what's within your control and making peace with what's not. the balance between trying your very best but also entrusting the outcome to Allah.
and none of this is easy. these are hard lessons to learn at every stage of adult life, with every heartbreak and disappointment, with every news that turns out different from what you were expecting, with global and personal tragedies filling your heart with grief every single day.
the truth is: everything in life is designed to push you closer to Allah and to being the truest, most authentic version of yourself.
this is the lesson behind the pain.

Has it ever happened to you that you plan something and when the time comes nothing goes as planned? It is a frequent phenomenon for me. 😅

All of our life is spent in the worry of
"What the people will say?"
In the end people will only say
Inna lillahi wa Inna ilayhi rajioon (إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُون)
Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him, we will have to return.’

“As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being rejected from something good; I was actually being redirected to something better. You must convince your heart that whatever God has decreed is most appropriate and most beneficial to you.”

Relatable especially when we look at how many friends we had on Tumblr and look at us now. No one knows anyone.
It's strange how people forget you so quickly if you stay a little away from them, but the comfort is that Allah will never forget you
