hi guys!! after reading @aphelionbruise‘s fantastic collection “split my lip,” i felt very inspired, so i got to work. now i have big news: my own poetry collection, “LUCKY TO BE ME,” is now available on payhip for $1.50! it contains 15 poems, the majority of which have never been posted or published anywhere except in this collection (such as the short piece pictured above). since this is my first collection, it would mean the world to me if any of you would purchase it, or if not, if you could spread the word!

My name is DEADNAME and I am a girl who is not a girl; I am alive but not living, Lazarus-like, unholy in my conception.

My name is WHORE shouted at me from a car window as I pull my knee socks higher to vanish the strip of thigh peeking out from below my skirt.

My name is BITCH and I think I might exist just to be hated; can’t do anything right, can’t even live without a social commentary on whether I deserve to.

My name is LESBIAN and my friends call me Attack Helicopter, put me in the boy’s dorm and in the same breath, tell me I will never be one of them. One of the boys I’m sharing a room with fucks me when I’m half dosed on medication and alcohol and the others walk in to watch. I’m part of the group until I’m not. I’m one of the boys until it comes down to it. The girls won’t have me in their room and the boys kick me out when they’re bored.

My name is NON-BINARY and this time around I cry when I come out. My best friend takes me to the barbers and they shave six inches of hair from my scalp in something that feels a little like rebirth.

more diet coke cans than i can count/ more packs of paracetamol than i can count/ it’s taking 30 chalky pills and never being able to be able to touch painkillers again/ trading pads under tables like a drug deal gone wrong when the only male teacher in the school catches you and tells you to share the candy you’re hiding/ using strawberry lubricant as lipgloss/ young blood- pink blood- not quite there yet blood in white regulation pants leaking through school skirts and thank god the uniform is black/ feeling his hot body against yours and his cock twitch in the small of your back/ it’s house parties with the worst alcohol stolen from your parents cabinets/ nicknames that only make sense to your group of friends/ squealing when your friend says your dad is actually quite hot/ being too old for friendship bracelets but making them anyway and binding them around tanned wrists/ dying your hair blue in your boyfriends shower/ his mum just laughs at the stains/ it’s a different world from the one you’re used to/ but still feels completely like home.
