This is a version of the 8 minute track I made for the sound in my Intermedia paper’s group project last year. It was supposed to be unpleasant and industrial and the reference I was given was Portal 2′s OST - specifically some of the tracks that play in the second part of the game, in the waste dump and closed off areas.
I’m not actually sure what happened here - I made a MIDI track that was way too upbeat and fast, exported it then reimported it as an audio file, and Ableton somehow absolutely mangled the audio warping? Maybe it was my drivers. Either way, it sounded perfect for what was needed and I really wish I could reproduce the effect reliably.
I threw in some sound effects and tones from one of the Soniss GDC audio packs for good measure.

This is the first version of the loop, which I can never show to anyone who does actual chiptune, ever. I still managed to shoehorn the Touhou trumpet in there. I will never stop.

Here’s a short loop for the first semester Unity game project.
This is the second version of the loop, which I had a lot of fun making! Kerenza suggested that I make something for a water level, but if that water level was in Minecraft. Floaty ambience is fun and I absolutely adore Spitfire’s LABS plugins.

This is a loop to be used in the opening dungeon area for Souper Kingdom Adventure, the game myself and a group of other students made during the 2018 soup themed Play By Play jam.
There were meant to be more dungeons but in our defense, we had only started the game course last week.
During this game jam, my laptop encountered three different blue screens and also decided during the restore process each time that Ableton was a non-essential program and could be uninstalled.
This meant reinstalling Ableton and all sound libraries I regularly use three times before I realised what was causing the problem. Somehow it was completed.
