ECL310 Week 9 TUMBLR Response:
For this post, the video I have chosen looks at teaching vocabulary words to Bilingual fourth-grade students in America. The modalities the students engage with are; linguistic (the written word), verbal (the spoken word), auditory (listening to the words) and also acting having to display that word (displayed through movement). The acts are also filmed showing good use of multimodality.
I would use this as a mentor text for aiming to improve the vocabulary of students who are having trouble and issues with understudying the meaning of words, thus then providing them alternative methods, rather than just reading the word or being told. The multimodality of this resource will provide students with an opportunity to have multiple exposures to the learning and could assist with the many varying types of learners.

ECL310 WEEK 7 TUMBLR RESPONSE:
One of my goals this trimester has been to become more familiar with lesson planning and the scaffolding that is required behind lessons. Being able to choose, make use of the correct materials and resources can be very important as a teacher.
1. My first online resource is Teach Starter, a website that offers primary school resources that can help teachers find helpful engaging activities for their classroom. Which are Victorian curriculum aligned and easy to access. Teach starter is also available to download as an application on iOS and android for easy access.
This will be shared through the youtube link below:

2. The second of my resources also is an online website called scholastic teachables. this website provides many resources, mini books for literacy and ready to go lesson plans which can be set to year level, subject and skill level.

The chosen resource I have selected is the Poetry 4 Kids, the website includes a number of poems under different genres and categories for students to select from. The website is also able to provide a blog space, lessons, about the authors and media whether it being in the form of games or youtube links. This website was used for a number of lessons whilst I was on placement, introducing students to poetry and the funny poems were a hit with students. The class was able to easily access the resource on their Ipads and read through a number of poems.

This Digital poster I have made is an adaption from my placement with their grade 2/3 class. when they were working on persuasive writing texts before NAPLAN. The original poster was one that my mentor teacher had written as a class on a large piece of paper and was clipped to the whiteboard. This poster can be beneficial to students as it can provide them with a clear outline of how they are to structure their writing and if needed can go up and look at it.

The children’s picture book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle was a novel that fills me with a great sense of nostalgia when looking back at the book. The books bright and vivid colours drew me in as a child, wanting to find out what could possibly happen to this caterpillar that was able to eat so much. My fond experience with this book, can place me in the position of future students and see how a particular book can impact them. The experience in which the students can discover a story as a group and connect, can provide reading as a positive experience and leave them with memories they can cherish for many years on.
