I love how willing the girls are in helping people with their problems. I love the various episodes about societal problems like homelessness and mental illness and teenage pregnancy. They take in complete strangers without hesitation. they take in pregnant, terrified kids, and kids who are about to be deported.

The golden girls have staying power because they tackled these issues in the 80s and we still have these issues now. I wonder if they'd still be as popular if we didn't have the same problems they talk about. (tho the dialogue is also timeless outside of the issues they tackle)
