#PhotoLife Circa 2015: This one is a trio of wedding photos for the wedding couple. For THIS shoot however, I was not the main Photographer. The honor belongs to Ali Fahrenheit Photography. Unfortunately, I don’t have his contact information or Instagram details. I didn’t get to really see or speak to the bride at all. I spoke to the groom, though. He was a super excited gentleman, a cop in law enforcement, and a great model citizen. I don’t remember where the venue was for this. It was north east from the Bronx along the New Rochelle coast. #PhotoLife Circa 2017: Dead N Drippin went blonde for this capture, and I felt compelled to saturate this image and flaunt it more. Also, what compelled me to capture this photo this specific way is due to the curve. It gives off an interesting framing of the image where it’s not the usual boxed dimensions. Now we got some curvature and I find that quite lively. I’ve said so many wonderful things about DND and I feel like I haven’t said enough. I strongly feel that models should reach out to their photographers the way that DND reached out to me to do shoots, be it for magazines or test shoots, regardless of successful captures or failures. It’s a learning process and I had so many ideas I wanted to try and test, and DND was down for all of them. I’ve grown a lot as a person thanks to her, and we have many wonderful captures to show for it. What I absolutely want to thank her for, is for treating me like a human being. #PhotoLife Circa 2017: Here is a capture from aspiring model and friend, Sam. This was the first impromptu photoshoot that we had. It lasted for a few moments, but it was a great lesson to show that she was more than capable of being a model, and I hope she and I can capture more in the future. I also hope that other photographers can see her potential, and take interest in photographing her as well. THIS specific capture is interesting to me, however. Sam shared this on her instagram, and I like it certainly, but I’ve always been curious if she applied one of those photo filters to it. I asked myself, “How the fuck did she do that?” I like it. So, I attempted to color grade it the same way she has, without using a filter. I don’t think her upload and my upload are the exact same colors, but I tried it anyway. Oh, I think I see it. #PhotoLife Circa 2014: This photo makes me extremely happy. I’ll explain why in a moment. Before that, this is a capture of the lovely model and friend, Samantha Synn. Makeup was done by the awesome MUA and friend, Priscilla Verni-Chakmakian. Both are very down to earth ladies, and I want you to please show your love to them by checking out their instagram in the listings below. We captured these photos back in 2014. They were photos that I wanted to work on to learn retouching, but I was such a mess. Memory card failed, Hard drive failed, I was getting arrested over dumb shit, and I was depressed through the entire journey. I worked on at least this photo before everything went to hell. I was backing up everything today. And Lightroom asks me what do I want to do with some dng photos that I had. I was like “What dng photos?” so I preview, and lo and behold, they were recovered on my hard drive with weird hexadecimal names, somehow. IM NOT COMPLAINING! I backed those right up. Super happy to have them back! Looking back at this photos reminds me that I was going through so much...and it made me so much better now that such drama is behind me. 2014 me is no match for 2018 me. #PhotoLife Circa 2018: I haven't posted in a while, been really busy, so here is a simple and clean portrait. Here is a headshot capture of a friend and former superior coworker of mine named Krysta Bella, of #Sweetkrystabella. She is a Baker and an aspiring entrepreneur. If you're looking for cookies, cakes, tarts, and pies for your birthdays, weddings, get together parties, or you're just looking for wholesome honest baking to satisfy your sweet tooth, then look no further, Krysta’s got you covered. This capture is interesting because this was NOT what we wanted to do. I got to the shooting space late, I had to rush to setup the lights, the lights misfired, misc, misc, misc, misc, misc. In the end we got a few good captures, this is one of them. I figured that a quick headshot would be a good starter, but time passed by very quickly. I didn't leave empty handed, but that is no excuse. I will do better next time. #PhotoLife Circa 2018: Here is another capture of aspiring model and cool friend, Sam. I am sharing this because something happened to me on a personal level when I was attempting to work on it that caused me to stop working on everything and accept things for what it is. I took a gamble with family and it turned out horrible. I had my doubts that I shouldn’t have taken that gamble, but I said to myself that they are my family, and I should at least try. The end result is that they didn’t reciprocate, and now I am going to lose out in a lot of ways. Lesson learned. I’ll be back in New York City in a couple of days for my birthday, but I’m not celebrating anything with anyone.. I’m just going to grind grind grind grind grind! I am happy with this capture. I know people will want it retouched, but no, I am happy with it as is. Circa 2018: This day I got to photograph an aspiring model and cool friend of mine, Sam. We captured this under the Bethesda Terrace in Central Park. There was a lot of stuff going on this day. People walking around getting in the shot, and a little boy that wanted to know how the world worked, and there was also a guy that was more aggressive about his catcalling than usual which nearly lead to the idiot getting sent to the hospital...but in the end, everything turned out well… This was one of my last photoshoots for the time being. Some things in my life are changing...I may be back in a month. We had to sit here for over an hour to capture this, telling people to move out of the shot, but we got it. LOL! This was captured with one light from @paulcbuffinc Digibee Flash Unit with a 47-inch Octabox attached with a grid, powered from 1 Vagabond Mini Lithium Battery. I REALLY love that I don’t have to second-guess my lighting anymore. It just works. Alright, back to photo editing I do, I’m backlogged. #PhotoLife Circa 2018: It’s always fun and refreshing to capture photograph art with the lovely Terri Claire of Ivy League Ink, and this capture I am very much happy with. Once again, Terri has outdone herself, and I am honored that she has placed trust and confidence in me to capture works as this, because shoots like these honestly require it. This capture took slight trial and error as I wanted to make sure that I got it right. The only thing I did here for retouching was added 1/3rd a stop of light to this. That’s it. Everything else was fine as is. And now, I’ll shut up and let the photo do the talking. #PhotoLife Circa 2018: Back again with another “The Night Is Mine” photo, this capture was made possible thanks to the wonderful model and actress, Michelle Principi, as well as my assistant and great friend, Ayo. This capture is moreso true-to-form Light Science, than anything else. To the Photographers that know the “Paint with Light” technique, I did something like that, here. We strolled down to Times Square, camera facing north-uptown where there were some billboards in the background, and for this effect, I knew that speedlights wasn’t going to cut it. Not powerful enough. I brought out my Digibee 800, cranked it to full power, and modified it with a PLM 64 inch parabolic. The trick here was freezing Michelle with flash control at f16 so that I knew for certain that everything else would be dark except her, and setting the shutter speed to half a second so that lights from the environment could burn into the capture. Then I simply twisted the camera while the light burned in, and there you have it. The end result is a funkadelic drug trip. LOL! I see several fashion photographers do this a lot, and since that is the direction that I am going, it’s best to be able to have techniques in your pocket. I’m not faking it til I make it...but I’m not playing it safe, either. As before, pedestrians looked, and pointed, and said a few unsavory things, but it comes with the territory. It is what it is. #PhotoLife Circa 2018: My Photography Series Project: The Night Is Mine, is shaping up to be a great experience. This is a photo from the first photoshoot for the series, and I am having so much fun. In this photo I am working with the wonderful model and actress, Michelle Principi, as well as my assistant and great friend, Ayo. We captured this around the back of Bryant Park, to the side of the Library there. We sat on the ledge while I expanded the view so that I could show the public ongoings. Despite this photo having a night-time vibe like I wanted, the sun didn’t fully set yet, it took longer than I thought. But in the end, I am pleased with the results. There were some people looking and asking questions, but that’s fine, it comes with the territory. The first photoshoot of my photo series: The Night Is Mine #TheNightIsMine is complete. The photos turned out better than I imagined. You ladies and gents are gonna flip when you see these. Special Thanks to my assistant @greasanto_orina for helping out with the lighting, and special thanks to @michellemp11 for being a great sport and model.
