(at MUSEUM NASIONAL INDONESIA) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBDXfGfgqPw/?igshid=flfubpzeubak

Gedung Arsip Nasional
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Kota Intan Bridge was constructed in the 17th century by the Dutch government to connect the West Kali Besar and East Kali Besar. Kota Intan Bridge located atKota Tua Jakarta which was known as Batavia on the time of Duta colonial. Kota Intan Bridge was made of wood and equipped with leverage to get the lower side of the bridge up when there was ship or boat passed by. In the Dutch colonial time the ships which deliver spicy from hinterland to the warehouse would pass by Kota Intan Bridge. In the government of Indonesia, Kota Intan Bridge was restored and was made to be permanent; hence it cant be leveraged anymore. The reason behind because at the moment there’s no mo ships pass trough the bridge. It was told that a famous painter Vincent Van Gogh had visited Batavia before and painted a painting of Kota Intan Bridge. #traveling #jakarta #indonesia #history #heritage #oudbatavia #kotatuajakarta #greatest_shots #topshot #sharetravelpics #lonelyplanet #destinasian #1000kata #window #iphonesia

Museum Kebangkitan Nasional or "Museum of National Awakening" is a history museum in Jakarta, Indonesia. The museum is dedicated for the history of Indonesian National Awakening. The building of the museum was constructed from 1899 to 1901. In March 1902, the building was officially opened under the name of STOVIA, the colonial medicine school for theJavanese and other native people. Students were obliged to live in the dorm until the completion of the 10 years study. In 1920, because of the increasing number of students, studies were conducted in a new building (now the Medicine facility of the University of Indonesia). The building was then used as a MULO school (equivalent to junior high school), AMS (equivalent to senior high school) and school for pharmacist assistants. During the Japanese occupation, the building was used by the Japanese to contain the Dutch war prisoners. After the independence of Indonesia, the building was used as temporary residences for the KNIL and their families.

Gereja Sion (Indonesian for "Zion Church") is a historic church located in Pinangsia Administrative District, Taman Sari, Jakarta, Indonesia. Dating from 1695, it is the oldest church still standing in Jakarta. The church was formerly known as De Nieuwe Portugeesche Buitenkerk ("The New Portuguese Outer Church"), referring to its position on the outside of the city wall, as opposed to Portugeesche Binnenkerk, "the Portuguese Inner Church"). The church was also known as Belkita during the period. The church was built outside the old city walls for the so-called "black Portuguese" - the Eurasians and natives captured from Portuguese trading posts in India and Malaya and brought to Jakarta (then Batavia) as slaves. Most of these people were Catholics, but were given their freedom on the condition that they joined the Dutch Reformed Church, and the converts were known as Mardijker or the liberated ones.

The Menara Syahbandar (also known as de Uitkijk), situated about 50 meters from the Maritime Museum, is the former watch tower that was built on the remains of the old bastion Culemborg. The watch tower acted as a signal box and observation post since 1839 over the roads of Batavia. Before 1839 the signals with the ships were exchanged from the flagpole at the old VOC-shipyard situated straight behind the watchtower. The tower lost part of her function after 1886 when the new harbor of Tanjung Priok was opened.
