do you think that a certain genre of queer person is so obsessively weird about pride flag discourse becuase their flags fill the gaping hole in their personality where a hogwarts house used to be

You know what never made any sense to me? That trend of cis- CIS!!!- people making those "when a he/they has the biggest chongalongas you've ever seen and doesn't like to be called a girl" posts.
Like, famously, we can't control the size our boobs are? Very large breasts aren't easily bound? Binding is expensive and not always medically advisable? Respecting people's pronouns shouldn't rely on strict adherence to cis-passing norms? I thought all of these were like... established trans theory and yet I found many trans people defending these posts and saying they had a point. What point??? That people with big boobs get misgendered frequently if they aren't women???

The whole "trans men are ruining their beauty" or trans men themselves being afraid to transition because they're afraid they'll become an "ugly man" is very funny to me as someone who only experiences attraction to men, even just aesthetically. I promise you, this idea of "ugly man" is not universal, there's plenty of people who find masculine traits much more attractive than feminine ones.
I think someone going from hairless to hairy is extremely attractive. I think the way Testosterone dominace changes your body composition and face to look masculine is peak beauty. And I promise you that there's plenty of women and gay men who feel the same way. Not everyone is attracted women or to feminity. Those traits you think are ugly is very attractive to a lot of people, it sucks that part of society and even other queer people makes you feel this way about yourself but there's plenty of people who feel the opposite.

Human culture isn't designed intentionally by anyone. Human culture is emergent, and is built continuously by everyone through the constant feedback loop of interaction with other people, individual experience, and social learning. No one is designing it from the top down.
It is a mistake to assume that any aspect of human culture is "for" anything in the narrow sense. Certainly culture emerges out of a historical process which can often be traced, and certainly there is the broad sense of "purpose" in which an aspect of culture might be perpetuated because it benefits certain people in certain ways, etc., but this is all an unplanned, decentralized, non-directed process. There have been efforts in human history by powerful institutions—like states—to shape culture in particular ways, and sometimes they see some amount of success, but the vast, vast majority culture is not produced in this way.
There's a particular post I'm vaguing here, whose political orientation I don't even particularly disagree with, but it significantly rubbed me the wrong way because it was worded as if culture was basically something engineered from the top down, in which everything has a discernible, coherent "purpose" that can be logically deduced. No! I don't think that's actually true!
