Merry Christmas from Southeast Louisiana! I hope you have a Merry Christmas Day. Luke 2:11-14 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. #christmas2015 #thatlacommunity #louisiana #merrychristmas #jesus (at Tchfunctha River)

This picture was taken of me and TW Hunt in 2013 Dr. TW Hunt received his coronation one year ago today. The Scripture below was his life message as he taught and practiced the disciple of prayer. His writings were many and his effort to write and teach The Mind of Christ is a classic for anyone who desires to follow Christ. Philippians 2:5-11 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. TW was a friend to me and my family. We worked together at Lifeway Christian Resources. I learned much from him and our sons spent summers with TW and Laverne after he returned to Texas where he discipled them. I had the privilege to preach his funeral at Spring Baptist Church, Spring Texas. Today, his daughter Melana, son-in-law Steve along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren continue to share the story of Jesus. I am thankful for them and the friendship we share as family. If you desire to grow in prayer I encourage you to join others to pray. As you do this study Disciples Prayer Life and then ask the Lord to prepare your heart to study the Mind of Christ. These are two resources written by TW Hunt that will help you grow in your relationship with Jesus. If you have questions about developing a life of prayer or a disciple ministry that multiplies please feel free to message or call me. If you are without a relationship with Jesus I would love to visit with you and tell you about God's love and the sacrifice He made for you. (at River Plantation Country Club)

The Forgotten People I take the opportunity to visit nursing homes every week. I have friends, church members, and family in these homes. Today, I captured this picture of residents at a nursing home getting ready for their Christmas Party. They were going to sing Christmas Carols, eat party food and receive presents. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says 1.4 million Americans reside in nursing homes. Many in the field of Gerontology along with media teams report that 85% of residents in nursing homes do not receive one visit a year. I recall in my early days as a pastor being told by a nursing home administrator to "not only bring people from your church here during Christmas time." They went on to explain that the home gets filled with many visitors at Christmas and becomes a ghost town in January. I took that word to heart and made it a practice to visit year round and led others to do the same. I challenge you to seek out a home bound person or a local nursing home where you live and commit to visit someone as often as you can. Don't wait until January - adopt a nursing home now and commit to see them at least once a month if not more. You will be blessed more than the one you visit. This is one of the reasons I live with a grateful heart. I am blessed when I invest in people. #family #olderadults #senioradults #nursinghome #longtermcare #lovingothers #makingdisciples #makingdisciplesforgenerations (at Forest Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center)

I am thankful for @jerilyngj who is a precious gift as a wife. She is a fantastic mom and grandmother. This evening I was able to capture a moment of her teaching piano to an outstanding young pianist vis Skype who now lives in Arkansas. Jerilyn has touched hundreds of lives through the teaching of piano. Our Shitzu Jazzy greets every student with love because that is what his master does with her students. When God Sets Your Field on Fire 2 Samuel 14:28-33 This passage of scripture provides a warning , a call from a king and the cost of refusing to answer. We all have an opportunity to respond to this teaching of Scripture! The question: What is it going to take for you to listen to God and do His will? Is He going to have to set your field on fire? May we all seek the Lord and respond with obedience to His call. I hope you have a blessed day. (at Pontotoc, Mississippi)

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5 Heavenly Father, I praise You for your promise that joy comes in the morning. I come to You this morning to lift up friends who are hurting because of job loss, health crisis, broken relationships, financial loss and family issues. Lord, may the Joy of the Lord shower down on these friends today. In Jesus Name, Amen. (at Lake Hermitage)

Two Ways Psalm 1:1-3 How happy is the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners or join a group of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. As you reflect on the truth of God's Word I encourage you to chose Christ and His path. (at Seven Falls Hiking Trail)

Happy Birthday to my son @jodyjohnston you are a blessing to me and @jerilynjohnston I thank you for living out Ephesians 6:2 I encourage you to continue pursuing God and His plans for you. I pray this blessing over you from Ephesians 1:16-19 – "I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that...the glorious Father, give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe…" I love you and proud of you.
