jay was wondering what he saw first. if it was that pretty jacket or you. 

yes, as an idol he wasn’t exactly able to flirt with random people at the store, yet he couldn’t help but notice you getting out of the car. 

he tried to focus again. oh boy, he did. jay just needed to buy that stupid piece of cloth and leave. that’s when he goes forward the hanger, so he could finally end the urge to start a small talk with you.

however, the blonde did not expect to find your hands clinging to the desired item’s fabric. and probably there wasn’t a scientific explanation that could clarify how fast you got there, maybe jay stayed a bit too long wandering to the department, but you did. 

“so… are you going to keep staring at me or will you let me get the jacket?” you ask, but he could only blink. were you really talking to him? and over his coat?

“i’m sorry, what? i-i literally grabbed it first!” of course, he wasn’t stuttering because he was nervous…

“dude, just give up. i spotted it before i even entered here.” they merely answered and both of them were tightening the grip under the material.

“hell no, i’m simping over this way too long!” and with that, you start an idiot argument over who saw it first. at some point, you didn’t know if it was because you, somehow, found it unnecessarily funny messing with his confidence or because he was gorgeous, but you decided to give it away and let him buy it. plus, you kinda wanted to be nice. 

so you watch him check out with the jacket, which he made sure to note that it would look super oversized on you (since he apparently knew a lot about fashion), and leave. you felt a bit uneasy… it seemed rushed to say that, but you liked being around him. 

at the same moment, jay is questioning all his life decisions and how it could affect his career as he positions the outfit’s bag on the hood of your car with a note for you behind the receipt: 

“i lied. you saw it first”.
