You're not the only one, though.
I realized this also as I watched the show. I've always loved Jude Law but it was seeing him in Skeleton Crew that got me more interested and well, wanting to see more of him in movies and stuff.
He was AMAZING in that show, by the way.
I think one of the funniest things about my current obsession with Skeleton Crew is that I've been mildly (read: very) attracted to Jude Law for very many years now, and all it took to launch that into a full blown obsession was his presence in a Star Wars IP. Incredible.

I may be writing Chapter 3 of Where My Demons Hide...
Why is it that when I finally have time to write, my brain goes, "Nope. This is boring. Let's go read fics.." Not fair...

Developing a playlist for 'Through a Mirror Darkly' because there are just songs that vibe for this.
Putting the songs in order of the chapters/scenes is going to be a mess though...
I'll post it once it's done.

People, people, people,
I am so excited for this fic. There's a fantastically complex and intricate backstory we (me and my beta) have spun for Qimir drawing on some bits from SW lore and other references in the SW universe. It has so much meaning, and I cannot wait to let it unfold in the fic.
I'm really looking forward to this.

I was 0 days old when I realized that the actress who plays Osha and Mae in The Acolyte, Amandla Stenberg is the same actress that plays Rue in The Hunger Games.
I saw a gif of her and thought, "Huh, she looks a LOT like Rue" and wow, go figure...

There's just something about characters who don't normally smile (but sometimes do). Like the genuine kind of smile, whether it's a laughing sort of one or just a simple one.
It's like the smile is so much sweeter and nicer to see when they DO because you never ever see it.
I'm basically thinking of Dream here because I think I can number on one hand the amount of time he's actually smiled.
And well, that gif I saw of Manny Jacinto in Nine Perfect Strangers had me wishing we would have seen Qimir smiling just a little bit. I mean, okay when he was the goofy apothecary he did a bit, but it's different, and yeah...the Sith (I really don't want to call him Sith because I don't consider him that, sorry) scary cortosis helmet guy never ever smiles. That's just his character, I get it.
Still, seeing the actor smile that way makes me wish he would have.

So has anyone seen Nine Perfect Strangers? I was considering watching it. (I know, I have no other reason for watching except because I saw one gif of Manny Jacinto smiling and that's sort of why I want to look into it)
But I don't know much about it...

So the graphic is done!
I'm calling the fic 'Through a Mirror Darkly', and this is the graphic I've made for it.
I can't promise when I'm going to start....soon hopefully because the plot is being worked out between myself and the fantastic beta I've got for it. I'd like to post it on May 4th, but we'll see. I've got my hands full atm. Anyway, here's the graphic.
#star wars#qimir#the acolyte#osha aniseya#oshamir#my fics: through a mirror darkly#all i can say is osha is actually a witch here and we get some of qimir's backstory (well the one the two of us have invented)

Please, can we talk about what happened between 1x05 and 1x06?
Qimir finds Osha lying there, covers her with his poncho cloak thing, touches her with what I can only call tenderness...then in the next episode, she's there in his bed, with something over her...whether that's his poncho thing or a blanket whatever.
I know this has been done before, but I don't remember where I saw it. But please. That means that he carried her to his ship, took her to Bal'demnic, laid her in the bed, covered her.
He did not be that way. He had no reason to. Other than the fact that, I don't know, maybe he cares about her.
Which makes me wonder, what changed in him? When exactly did Qimir start to feel that way about Osha, because don't we earlier in "Night" see him igniting his lightsaber when he's facing her down. Also takes a swing at her after she latches her robot onto his back to attract the moths.
Look, I ship Oshamir, I love them. I'm just someone that likes to pick apart the 'when these two started to have a different relationship' sort of thing.
I also think it's really interesting how he flicked her out of the way just before the fighting began.

Also, um can we talk about how twice Qimir has thrown ignited sabers and kept them ignited with the Force? I mean, that's how he does it, right? Because well, you need to exert pressure to ignite it.

This is what I'm talking about....look at the way that Qimir fights...he just pushes away Yord's and Jecki's strikes with a flick of his arm (the one with the cortosis armor) and he literally very intentionally strikes Sol's saber and the other ones with his helmet because yeah, he knows the Cortosis will short them out.
I completely missed this when I saw the episode the first time.

Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood (but the dramatic violin version by Joel Sunny) is giving me Oshamir vibes.
I once looked up an enemies to lovers playlist and this came up, but it just has this feel to it. I'm not quite sure how to put it into words.
I'd love to make an edit with it but *le sigh* I have no time.

Okay, maybe this is silly but I know that Yord makes a comment that there's no method to how Qimir fights, he doesn't follow the rules of fighting or whatever (this is me remembering not very clearly...it's been a few days since I saw that episode) but like, in this fic I'm working on....I kind of want him to have a sort of--or at least start, when he's training as a Jedi--to have some sort of refined style. The kind that a swordsman has who knows how to be efficient, lethal and formidable but at the same time graceful about it, you know?
Then maybe that style shifted into something more raw, aggressive as we see in the show.
Just like my thoughts about Qimir possibly painting at some point in his past (and flettwin's remark about the Cortosis helmet being of brittle metal and therefore difficult to work with)...I don't see Qimir as this sort of hack-and-slash guy. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Whoa, folks, I've got TWO complex ideas for Oshamir fics that will most certainly be multichapter.
I promise, I promise, I WILL update Where My Demons Hide this week. I swear.
I'm just really excited by my dark side power couple over here.

I finished the graphic! And it is pretty. I think it captures well the vibes of the story. I'll be posting it shortly with the title...
