Being descended from the literal loins of the king of the gods, came with some perks. From the men to women to even the children, their bodies were peak perfection. They could handle the pressure, storms and heat that Jupiter threw at them every second of their lives, electricity was literally a toy to them and their strength was unmatched in the system.

As things were in the Sol system, traveling was never really hard. Travel in between the inner planets took minutes, seconds if you had the money and status to afford it. But the outer worlds were a different story, Jupiter in particular. While it didn’t take long to arrive, getting thru the multitude of storms and typhoons the size of Mars and Venus combined wasn’t a fun time. For the mortal children of Zeus; however, the howling winds and rolling thunder were like lullabies, a nostalgic reminder of home.

Many Venusian myths say that when Aphrodite was given her planet and began to seed it with life she began with a song, her voice shaping and sculpting the planet to her liking, the surface resonating in harmony. She then began a dance causing plant life to spring forth and join her fervor. The lakes and ponds sprung from her sweat and the oceans from the orgasmic joy that overtook her body. Where the rivers and oceans met sprung forth many diverse and beautiful animals. From the waters that lapped the golden shores sprung the first people of Venus, statuesque and blessed with the divine beauty of their holy mother.

Creator deities of the mercurians, Hermes blessing their people with agility and the ability to process large amounts of information. Hephaestus blessing them with the gift of innovation and ingenuity, anything they touched could endlessly be optimized. When Hermes and Hephaestus were given their planet, Hephaestus carved and chiseled the regolith causing it to yield and be maleable to his divine hand. He begat many grottos and valleys, turning mountains into hills and hills into mountains. Hermes agilely took the mud and soot left over from Hephaestus’ work and began to shape many statues and sculptures in their likeness. Calling over the burly god, Hermes with Hephaestus filled them with a little of their ichor and divine breath, giving life to the first mercurians.

Even with being the hearth of the system and so close to the sun…there was something cold and impersonal about Hephaestion Alpha…maybe she was just a simple offworlder who knew nothing.

He knew his place and his role in society. Here in Hephestion Alpha, we were always reminded that there was no place for frivolous artistic endeavors. Logic and innovation was the true lifeblood of this system-wide civilization and that if we lost sight of that we’d be doomed. In spite of that, his mind would still daydream about the lush islands of Venus and vast hills and valleys of Luna.

She asked “reti vus rakh?”. She saw my confusion and her eyes quickly lit up and understood that I wasn’t from Venus. With a smile that could stop even the priests of Kronos from counting the sands of time, in a rich altoesque voice she asked me where I was from and if I needed help with directions…
